The steering wheel became very difficult to turn. The power steering failures occurred on multiple occasions and eventually went out completely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic power assist assembly malfunctioned. The electronic power assist assembly was replaced and the failure was remedied.
