3 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

The instrument panel air bag light stayed on continuously, so I was concerned that the air bags might be defective. When I took the vehicle to a Ford dealership for servicing, I was told that the front passenger side seat belt pretensioner/retractor was shortened internally. I was told that unless the part was replaced, the air bags would not deploy upon impact. If I chose not to repair the part, I was told that the vehicle would pass our state's inspection. In order to protect my family's safety, I believed that I had not option but to replace the part. I requested that the dealership give me the defective part, which they did. I still have the defective part. That repair cost me a total of $1097. 98.

4 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

I have owned this F-150 since new and most of its life it has been stored indoors. Recently I noted that any time the vehicle is driven in the rain or left outside while it rains, the rear corners of the cab leaks water. The source of that water is a failed seal surrounding the rear window, which I diagnosed in my shop after removing the headliner and other trim in order to observe the leaking with some water and compressed air. The issue that I noted during the repair was that the airbags that are mounted above the rear passenger windows in the headliner on both sides of the vehicles wicked up moisture that had been caught by the headliner. They were both wet to the touch, which was concerning. Further, the airbag inflator which is mounted in the rear corner post of the vehicle and the seatbelt recoil mechanism both also showed signs that they also recieve moisture from this leak. The vehicle is out of warranty, so there is no manufacturer remedy for the issue unless I were to pay for a complete rear window reseal. I did not have a dealer take a look at this issue at this time. Multiple other owners of f150's of this age have had similar issues with water leaking into the cabin and leaching into the airbags, as described in numberous online forums.

The person occupying the other vehicle had received injuries and needed medical attention as well. The contact was unsure of the specific injuries of their injuries. 11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2019

While driving at variable speeds, low and high, the passenger airbag off light comes on while an adult passenger is occupying the passenger front seat. Took to Ford dealership 4 times but because the VIN does not match a recall had to pay 4 different diagnostic fees. Have videos as proof, does dealership said can’t recreate issue even with video proof and did nothing to help. Opened 2 cases with Ford corporate and nothing was done about it. Took vehicle in again and was adamant about this being a recall regardless of VIN matches or not, dealership adjusted weight sensor and told me this would be it and they would not address this issue or my truck anymore, even though I had told them that my wife is the only passenger and she is pregnant carrying our child. Airbag light indicator illuminates stating the passenger light is off when an adult passenger is in the front passenger seat, has happened at multiple speed from 1 mph up to 50 mph. Could result in an injury or fatality if accident were to occur. Tried to upload the video but NHTSA only allows photos to upload can’t upload the video.

12 Air Bag problem

Takita recall: passenger seat when occupied shows off; sometimes it shows on. . This is while the vehicle is in motion in city or on highway.

13 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2017

I have been getting getting airbag symbol on dash for about 3 years. I have brought the truck to 4 different Ford dealers to repair. The first time it came on, I was told to park truck and not drive it by Ford, the airbag could deploy at any time. When I bring the truck to the dealer, they claim to repair issue. After I leave dealer, in about 1 month, the light will come back on. The last Ford dealer (hood in hammond) which has claimed to repaired it, after it came back on, they says that the front seat needs to be removed to repair. Also seat tentioner has been replaced by another Ford dealer. I have had to use my extended warranty and have to pay $100 copay. I have contacted Ford a couple time also. This issue has been going on for about 3 years. I do not know if airbags will work or not. Very dissapointed with the unprofessionalism of dealers (service managers) and Ford customer service. This issue of not knowing if airbags are working properly are not is very distrubing. I am giving an estimate of mileage and date when first occured.
