1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2025

It's the same issue as recall notice 22s02/NHTSA recall 22v011. The replacement part is mr3z-7583-a 1x ($2-$5 part with 30 second install), but they do not show it under parts for my truck, they would prefer to sell me the whole brake pedal assembly ($50+ part and labor probably diagnosis charge in addition to part replacement). The part becomes brittle and breaks. This caused dead battery, 5 hours from home, due to lights staying on, allowed me to start and put truck into gear without touching the brake, lost acceleration between 45 & 50 mph, cruise control would not turn on and message presents that hill assist is not available.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2024

Led headlamps become too dim to drive at night. 1. Dealerships may recommend headlamp unit replacement (around $3000usd). 2. However, uniform dimness in both lamps indicates an upstream electrical issue. 3. Recent service inspection (invoice #565749 at autonation Ford in bellevue, wa) indicated that all existing diagnostic procedures to inspect voltage and battery health came up negative, but they have no process to diagnose the control unit or measure the candle output of the headlamp projectors. 4. Case #cxh02252436 has been opened up with Ford to ask engineering to develop a procedure to diagnose, repair, and potentially issue a recall with the part.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2022

Unknown: on 1/2/2021 at approximately 11:30pm, we were awakened by neighbors to warn us that our home was on fire. Neighbors witnesses an explosion from our truck, that blew up most of the Ford F-150 and cause major damage to my van next to it. The fire department has investigated the explosion and listed cause of fire to be electrical issues from the Ford F-150. Thankfully no lives were lost, but would like to see that this be investigated to avoid loss of life as a preventative measure.

I don’t know if this question qualifies in this section but I’m just trying to find out why my 12v outlets in my truck are not working and also the plug-in for my trailer hitch, neither of them are working. To the best of my knowledge I’ve checked fuses and couldn’t see anything blown. Thank you.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

April 26, 2017 the following components malfunctioned simultaneously when returning to truck from shopping: running boards would not deploy or retract; airbag(s) warning light on dash was lit; climate control system, both heat and cooling was out of service; front windows would not respond to controls; seat comfort functions did not work; mirror adjustment and retraction inoperable; back-up system and warnings inoperable; cross traffic system fault; blind spot warning error. Wiring harnesses replaces and picked truck up may 12th 2017. That evening while driving with a trailer, a message appeared concerning the trailer being disconnected. That disappeared and then the following happened: warning messages began to appear on the driver's display screen saying, your vehicle is not in park, check manual, downhill assist not operational. Then the lights went out, the truck lost power (the engine was still running), it shifted into downhill assist, front windows didn't work, passenger seat moved by itself, driver's seat began to go back as if the truck was turned off, then it returned to driving position, the sync display went dead and came back on, the driver's display shut down and came back on. All these things continued to repeat as bells sounded and I limped 5 miles back to my son's house. Same problems exhibited when son took truck to the dealer the following am without trailer. Another harness replaced. Picked up truck and drove without incident about 800 miles. When starting truck, trailer message reoccurred. There was no trailer attached. Two days later after being parked, all the 1st set of failures reoccurred. Running boards, ac-heat, air bags, windows, mirrors, cross traffic system, blind spot warning were all inoperable.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

The image in the driver side rear view is distorted into dual or blurred image. It is difficult to capture while moving, but is, escalated when multiple vehicles and lanes are present. Escalated even further in inclement and night driving conditions. The spot mirror is integrated with the main rearview mirror further distracting the driver from the road ahead as well as points to the same line of horizon that proves to be both driver and passenger rearview mirrors, making side and rear safety cushion observation ineffective and inefficient. Many citizens install pick up bed truck caps to protect their belongings. The design of these mirrors alone is detrimental to safety observation. Add in defective performance sits on the slope of reckless endangerment. Which brings me to the indented signaling programed into the turn indicators. This indented feature promotes unsafe turning/lane change maneuvers. Using the 100 ft. Rule. It is impossible complete a safe lane change and share the road with other drivers in the time allotted 3 flashes. Three before , three during and three after is pushing a less experienced driver. None the less is the accepted courteous driver rule, not to mention the rule of law. At the very least this mirror should have a warning of poor visual when installing truck cap and dealer should be required to warn prospect thereof. As well as the manufacturer needs to offer an optional application. Safe cars save lives. This photo examines the defect occurring at center angle of mirror. The defect is more pronounced moving towards the edge. But definitely occurs before the line caused by auto dimming film. ( unable to upload photo) but available on request. Update! 5/11/2017 as of now I am allowing fomco to repair and replace this defective mirror. I still believe it to be a safety design flaw and should be removed upon verification of towing intention.

9 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

Lately I have been doing more driving at night and I have found when I am behind a new f150 the running lights are very hard to see. All you can see from the rear of the car is a hint of red a the bottom and top of the light, unless you are looking at the car from a side angle the rear running lights are pretty much useless. I almost hit a black f150 the other day when it was raining hard, because I couldn't see its running lights. This needs to be fixed immediately weather Ford adds a center light under the tailgate or recalls these lenses for safety.
