Gears dropped fast on the highway, rpm's went up because my foot was on gas because I was on the highway, rear end locked up and I skidded going from 60mph to 30 in a second.
Lr wheel fell off on hwy 40. Shop that towed us in and fixed the problem said probably caused by swollen lugs nuts and subsequent torquing issue.
Replaced lug nuts that had swollen and was not removable with standard socket at repair shop to repair flat tire. Chrome lugs with dissimilar metals caused the swelling. Unable to change tires to deal with roadside emergencies.
Could not remove the lug nuts. They did not fit in the lug wrench. They had to be hammered off.
Defective lug nuts came on my truck which I bought new in 2015. The bradenton auto nation Ford dealership says that they can’t rotate my tires due to the swollen, defective lug nuts even though I paid for that with my oil change. I feel it is Ford’s responsibility to replace these defective parts to keep my truck safe and drivable in the future. There should be a recall for this issue.
My wheel lug nuts are swollen and a lug nut wrench will not fit on them. This appears to be a manufacturing defect which has been reported by many f150 owners.
Swollen lug nuts at just under 47,000 miles requiring replacement by Ford with the same faulty lug nuts at my expense for $156. 00. No recall per Ford. They will need to replaced again at some point. Faulty design !!!.
While driving down the road, only 48 mph, my back rear wheel studs busted my my lug nuts came off. I have researched many forums and other F-150s have had this same problem, with the same tire. The safety of myself and my family was put into danger, with this being an unforeseen issue. There were no warning lights or check engine lights on at the time of the accident.
Some factory installed lug nuts swelled and deformed. This made some difficult to remove with tire iron and needed additional tools, and some impossible to know if they were tightened correctly afterwards. A lug nut socket would not fit correctly so a torque wrench could not be used to tell if nuts were tightened to spec.
2015 f150, has a 6 bolt pattern. Ford dealer on oil changes and rotating of tires, uses and impact which rolls the chrome cover over and could not get the factory lug wrench on without using a 5 pound hammer, I just happened to have with me. Happened a couple weeks ago, on night trip to up of michigan, from ohio. Ford lug nuts from dismissed lawsuit still pose problemshttps://fordauthority. Com › 2019/08 › Ford-lug-nuts-fro. . . Aug 19, 2019 — the Ford lug nuts are made of two pieces, and the lawsuit alleged that the two-piece design was defective and dangerous. Critics of the two- . . .
Ford dealership service representative advised me that when attempting to rotate my tires, they notice the lug nuts were swollen. They advised me that I would need to purchase new lug nuts if I would like to have the tires rotated. The cost would be over $100. I researched this online and many sites star that this is a common defect in Ford lug nuts.
Wheel lug nuts deteriorated (rounded off) and could not be removed with standard equipment.
Lug nuts are distorted. They won't allow the lug wrench that comes with the vehicle to remove or tighten them. I was unable to remove a wheel after tire went flat due to 2 of the nuts warping and not able to find any wrench that would work. I had to grind those 2 lug nut "caps" down with an angle grinder (scuffing the alloy wheel) and then chisel the caps sides down far enough to get a 20mm socket on the nut beneath the "cap". I cannot use this F-150 until I find replacement one piece lug nuts to fit. I will not put the crappy capped nuts back on this vehicle. Ford may have saved nickles, but going cheap on something so vital will cost them many future customers, including me.
While taking my vehicle to the fred beans Ford dealer in langhorne, PA for an oil service I was advised all my lug nuts must be replaced. The advisor reported they were all swollen and some are stripped in the rear. I see now that many other consumers report the same failures from the lug nuts with two metal components installed at the factory on newly issued Ford and other car manufacturers. Ford offered to replace mine for $337. 55. I purchased replacements for 61. 43 and with a tip at my tire store the costs were totaling 71. 43. The lug nuts heat up and fail and those remaining are impossible to get off with the wrenches provided by Ford or star designed wrenches. It's not the cost, it’s the hazard I didn't know existed! they pose a safety hazard due to the metal failure. Since I generally change my own oil, I would not have known about this safety issue except by luck taking it to the dealer. I had it in a tire store the same day, they didn't mention the issue. I was unable to remove the lugs, the wrench wouldn’t even fit over the lugs. The tire store's power tools were able to power them off. Consumers need to be notified of this hazard.
Unable to remove lug nuts with lug nut wrench provided with vehicle. Lug nut wrench does not fit over lug nut head.
Told 02/01/ 2018 at a Ford dealership that all my lug nuts were swollen due to the alloy that Ford motor company used on the 2015 model. They recommended I replace all lug nuts due to not being able to remove them in case of a flat tire. I replaced all lug nuts thinking this problem was corrected and that the parts used were better or improved parts. On Feb 11, 2021, I was told again my lug nuts were swollen. I informed them I had them replaced and the tech said, "ok. " on October 12, 2021, I was told again that the lug nuts were swollen and needed to be replaced. When I stated I had them replaced in 2018, I was told that I needed to replace them with after-market parts. I was never told this back in 2018. The dealership put the same defective oem lug nuts on my vehicle costing 311. 04. I went to a tire business and got them all replaced with after market parts for a cost of 59. 54. I was guaranteed that this would never happen on these lug nuts. The tire business was well aware of Ford's defective lug nut problem and stated they have replaced lug nuts on many models. I confronted the dealership about my concerns and they are looking into it. I feel no one is taking responsibility for this problem. . I called Ford directly and filed two cases regarding this situation in Feb 2021 and oct 2021. I have the case file numbers. They stated the first case was closed already. Why, I do not know and the representative couldn't tell me either. I feel like I am just being blown off about this issue. The oem lug nuts are defective and should never be put on vehicle.
When turning onto a road and starting to accelerate, the truck suddenly lost all power and the traction control, advance traction control, hill descent control, maintenance required light all came on and the truck went into limp mode. Luckily I was able to pull off the road and avoid being hit.
I got a flat tire and tire could not be removed. The lug nuts holding the tire had swelling to a different size so tire can't be removed. I was stuck on side of road.
On July 24, 2020 while driving on interstate 291 driving 45-50mph with heavy traffic, with absolutely no warning there was a loud explosion. I thought I was rear ended. Simultaneously the rear tires locked up while approaching a work zone. I skidded uncontrollably for approximately 100 feet. Ultimately came to rest on the shoulder. As my family and I exited the vehicle there was heavy smoke coming from the rear and underside of the vehicle. We thought the vehicle was on fire. The state police arrived on the scene within 5 minutes upon us exiting the vehicle. The transmission wouldn't go into gear so the vehicle had to be flat bedded to the nearest dealership, marcotte Ford, holyoke MA. Was told by the dealership the rear end failed and locked up. Upon their test drive I was told there was a total failure with the transmission. They said they had to wait for a decision from Ford to either rebuild or replace the transmission. August 19, 2020 I was notified that the transmission was rebuilt and that I could pick up the vehicle. I did not receive any prior phone calls from them to inform me of what was going to be done to correct the situation. .
Malloy Ford in winchester, va just notified me that they recommend that the next time the wheels are removed that all 24 of the lug nuts be replaced for $160. 00. I know from my previous 2009 Ford f150 that the lug nuts are made in two pieces and that they corrode and expand and eventually the socket wrench will not fit the nut. Imagine having a flat tire on the highway and not being able to remove the wheel to change the tire. This has been an issue for a least eleven years and I believe longer. I had to replace the lug nuts on my 2009 f150. The tech told me that I should go online and find (non Ford) one piece lug nut replacements because Ford's design will only corrode again. Why is this still happening?.
The truck seems to be rubbing and shaking. Someone said make the hubs and bearings.
Design flaw in vista sunroof on supercrew trucks is a known issue to leak. There is a service bulletin out but requires a $1200-$1500 repair fee. In addition, known flaw in lug nuts expanding to point of not being able to remove wheels. Coat to replace another known defect is $14 per lug nut. Major issues should be covered when related to locked wheels and water leakage into passenger compartment during operation.
My F-150 has had 2 turbos in 1 year go bad on it, causing me to not be able to accelerate at highway speeds. Losing gas mileage and coolant also. My tire sensor has also gone bad on the truck and caused me to over inflate it.
All lug nuts are swelling- hard to get off. Tech told me it will get to point I will have to have them all replaced and if I were to get a flat tire there is no way I would be able to get any of them off at this point.
Attempting to change a flat on the side of the highway, I was unable to get the lug nuts off because the Ford standard wrench supplied with the jack kit is too small and wouldn't fit onto the nuts even when trying to force it on by banging on it with a rock. I was left stranded on the side of the highway for a couple of hours waiting for aaa to bring the correct sized socket. The aaa service man said that he had to use a 7/8 socket. This situation put me in unnecessary danger and is a major inconvenience. I called Ford customer service and they said there is no open recall and that I would need to have a Ford dealership look at the issue. They also said I would most likely have to pay for a correctly sized lug nut wrench.
I was driving on 680 and without warning my front driver side tire fell off. It felt like a flat tire and as I was pulling over the tire went flying. New truck under warranty 500$ monthly payments, this should not happen. I drove truck from WI to CA. Had Ford inspect the vehicle, they knew it was not safe said it was and let me drive it away 2600 miles later tire problem happens. I took it back to Ford for repair, they replaced all lug nuts from closed cap to open face, I asked about lug nut class action lawsuit ant they had no comment.
Lug nuts on truck get swollen and the dealer could not get the lug nuts off of the truck. I had to buy twelve new lug nuts at my cost. They replaced with the same lug nuts. If you break down and the lug nuts are swollen you can not get your tire off to change it. This is a safety problem that needs to be fixed, Ford will not pay for the replacement of the part.
My tire pressure sensor fault light stays on for no reason.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 50 mph, either one of the wheels or the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that the failure occurred so fast that he did not know the particular wheel that locked, stating that it could have been the steering wheel. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an aluminum barrier. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Sadly, we feel we have purchased a lemon occasionally engine or transmission squeals/grinds, if accelerate too quickly/power up. ,and now, on cold days [temps low 40s & under] hear rubbing/grinding whirring at left front tire? gets louder when depress brake, and can feel in brake pedal. Sound occurs during slow forward speed 2-40 mph, on gravel driveway or paved road. Scheduled service today for noise; they were more interested in fixing recall item [locks - rpr time 3+hrs], if they had parts in stock. Recall srvc completed [under 1 hr], and "no noise was heard. " I requested further look for cause of noise, service advisor said quick lane would check suspension?. 2 hrs later, nothing seen, nothing heard, nothing repaired. As I pulled away from dealership, having signed off on service, the truck immediately began making the noise [funny serv advsr didn't hear when he brought truck around?]. I drove less than 1/10 mile back to dealership, took the service advisor for ride; at which point he acknowledged he heard noise, but tried to assure me it's a 'tire issue. ' my husband and I believe otherwise - this is not tire noise, the noise never crescendos or changes pitch with increase or decrease speed, on gravel or asphalt, and we have never felt 'tire noise' in brake pedal. This noise/friction merely ceases after you've driven a few minutes [for now]. Service advisor assured me I was not doing any further damage to truck, continuing to drive it without resolution to the problem. I asked him if I needed new tires, he said indeed not, mine are in great shape [original tires] with 63,000 miles on them [but it's a tire issue?]. Something's up [similar concerns have been raised in forums on the internet- along with dealer dismissal/failure to resolve. We want our truck repaired [resolution of these mechanical failures] while it's under warranty, or we want a new vehicle.
2015 Ford F-150 wheels get stuck on the hubs very quickly and easily. With both the aluminum summer rims and steel winter rims. The removal of the wheels take excessive force to complete, much more than what the vehicle's included jack can handle on roadside. Can be very dangerous and very costly when changing a flat tire.
