I purchased a used 2016 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab, 4x4, 2. 7l engine on 01/29/2021. My driver's side door won't close/ latch properly, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. I have read the Ford forums, and it seems as though Ford F-150's have this as a common issue in cold weather climates. There have been numerous recalls for this safety issue, but it does not appear by my VIN # that there is an active open recall. I will check with Ford to see what they will do to remedy the issue.
Door will not latch due to cold temperature. Will work when heated, but then refreezes not allowing the door to latch. Can not operate vehicle with a door not latched closed and it is primary vehicle. I recently purchased the vehicle used from a dealership who is not responding to this issue.
Hood was released while driving down the freeway (it didn't open all the way due to the safety catch under the hood). This is about the 6th time this has happened iover the last 2 years but first time it has happened while driving on the freeway. We stopped using the emergency brake about 3 months ago because we thought maybe our foot was accidentally hitting the hood release lever on the inside panel. Therefore, this most recent time it happened, we didn't have a foot anywhere near the hood release lever the entire trip. Had it in the dealership 2 years ago when it first happened and they apparently didn't fix it or didn't know what was wrong.
Driver door did not latch when closing it. After heating it up and oiling it, it latched again.
Vehicle was stationary. Just started the vehicle and the rear window defroster turned on by itself. Moments later the rear window shattered.
The driver door came open and wouldn't close. I had to hold the door closed while I drove home almost 40 miles away!!! it was very difficult to hold because it kept wanting to fly open. This first happened when I got in my truck to leave my farm, but I had no option other than to drive home trying to hold the door shut. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Drivers side door does not latch all the time when closed. Car was parked in the garage with temps in the high 40's and had not been in any wet weather or washed in 4 days. Shut it 5 times and it would just bounce back opened. This has happened on and off since we owned the truck(1-2019). Happens more often in cooler weather. Have talked to the Ford dealer since 1-2019 and they said there was no recall and to use penetrating oil on the latch. Which has not helped.
Door latches 'freeze' and will not engage in cold weather (vehicle is parked outside and in cold weather this is frequent problem). This problem had previous recall / repair but fix is not working. Rear window defroster does not work in one section of 3 part window (has one part of three section - section on drivers side). Vehicle has 30,000 miles. Window sections that do work get hot.
When I got off work got into my vehicle after a rainy day water poured out from my control panel on the ceiling of my truck. This the second time it's done it. Water comes out of the buttons used to control the rear window button also from the passenger side handle used to help upon entry to the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary for 10 hours and rain was happening all day. When I got in my vehicle the interior was dry but as soon as I turned right water began to pour from the control panel on the ceiling.
Every time the temperature dips below 20 degrees the driver's side door will not latch nor lock. The dealership has attempted to fix it, in fact claims to have fixed it, but the issue remains. In talking to other owners of the same vehicle they also have the same issue. I consider this to be a serious safety issue, apparently Ford doesn't.
During cold weather environments, doors freeze and are unable to open from the inside or outside.
My vehicle was repaired under customer satisfaction program 18n03 for the door latch freezing overnight and being unable to close the door after opening it in the morning until it warmed up. This was originally repaired under the program 18n03 in March 2019. In February 2020 the same door latch had to be replaced completely as the door would not lock or unlock unless manually operated from the inside. Given the short time frame between the two repairs the original freezing and being unable to latch must have damaged the door latch causing it to fail less than a year later. The dealer and the Ford customer satisfaction agent both refused to repair the latch the second time under the program costing me $583 out of pocket.
Problem with 2016 f150s door latches won't latch sometimes when cold allowing door to fly open when driving. Recall was previously performed but apparently didn't fix problem.
Door latch stuck open after opening and unable to get to reset so door would stay closed. Vehicle was unsafe to drive until temperatues outside went up above freezing. Vehicle was parked in driveway and remote start was used to start/warm vehicle prior to trying to leave for work. Happened multiple times this winter, but only recording one date below due to limitation in online reporting system. When looking up this problem found vehicles have been issued recall for repair, but my vehicle VIN is not included in the recall for this issue.
During freezing conditions, rear door will not latch shut. Parked driveway.
My Ford was taken to the fox Ford in waynesburg, PA to fix the 2 recalls on 12/30/2019. One of the recalls were regarding the door not opening or closing. They said they repaired both recalls. And one week later on 01/06/2020 the drivers door could not get into had to crawl over the passenger side in order to start the truck. Then once the door was pushed open from the inside the door would not close. The truck sat for approximately 15 minutes to warm up and the door would not latch close unless you used the lock. Called the fox Ford back and told them and they rescheduled my truck back in on 01/13/20. They called me and told me that they took a look at the door again and said that they could not see anything else they could do except put more lube on/in it . And they could not do anything else for me if it happens again with out charging me or having another recall. Therefore I am notifying you.
Apim unit and plastic body components 2016 f150, 31,071mi. , sync3 v3. 0. 20204 symptoms: malfunction of the power window controls, radio controls and instrument panel. The apim also controls many other safety functions, such as rear camera, safety lanes, park assist, backup guides, gps, cruise control, trailer/tow information, and other warnings/features. It is notable that Ford has issued recalls for the apim due to safety issues in different year f150s, as well as explorer, escape, expedition, fusion and Lincoln models navigator and mk2 models, to name a few. This has been reported once, I spoke with a Ford representative and he setup an appointment at the dealership that was to setup an appoint for diagnosis before they setup a repair/replacement appointment. An appointment to setup an appointment to setup a diagnosis appointment to setup a repair appointment. Seriously, what is up with that? finally, a plastic component from a side-step flew of while traveling a highway, narrowly missing an on-coming car.
Dec 2019, I reported to the car dealer that my door latch was frozen and my door would not close while I was trying to go to work (still in driveway). Fred beans of west chester, PA told be there was nothing they could do that I should be able to heat it up. Although this is now oct 2020, I found in my folder while looking for something else mfg recall number 17s33, NHTSA recall # 17v652. I setup up an appt, dropped off my car and they called me this morning 10/5 that they cannot repair because they will not get reimbursed.
2016 f150 crew cab door handles freeze and either, do not open, will not latch properly, or not close at all. I have seen discussions online concerning recalls for this exact issue, year, make and model, but when I check the VIN number it says there are no recalls. This is an extreme safety issue. It has come open while driving, and not opened on other occasions. This happens when the temperatures are around or below freezing.
Doors locks are freezing up and door will not close on my 2016 f150. Truck have been serviced on 12/6/18, 8/3/18, 4/13/18 and I'm going to bring it in 12/19/19 for service for frozen door locks. My vehicle stationary at work on 12/15/19 and I couldn't lock the door until 20minutes later. Then 12/12/19 in morning I was driving and the door was unlock I pulled over and it wouldn't lock so my wife had to hold the door until I dropped her off. This is a major concern with Ford. This is a inconvenience for me and Ford should compensate me for this issue or Ford should buy the car back because something is wrong with the doors and this is a safety concern.
The locks on my truck froze in winter and as my wife was goin down interstate the door came open and I've went to the dealership where I got it nd they refuse ta fix my recalls and told me it would be 4 days without a vehicle and I'm active military and can not go without a vehicle they offered no car ta me and we're rude and not willing ta show me which of the 10 recalls on my truck if any had been fixed . I just bought this truck in 2019 and am having nuthin but issues and I believe it ta be a lemon and the dealer is of no help.
The power lift running boards operate while the truck is in motion and when in park the door opens to active this feature the board comes out and stays out but more often it just retracts causing a miss step and falling when exiting the vehicle.
While diving onto an interstate on ramp, the back glass shattered. Nothing struck the glass, it just broke. When the window was replaced, it was discovered the rear defroster wiring had burned both on the window and in the truck. The rear defroster overheated the window and caused it to shatter. It nearly started a fire.
Seal seams causing leaking into interior of vehicle. Causing carpet to get wet and water to collect in the doors.
On the newer Ford f150's the master lock sits outside of the door frame. Criminals can break this lock and grain access to the vehicle in less than 30 seconds. I have had my truck broken into 3 times now due to this security issue. Ford refuses to acknowledge the issue they engineered into the f150. I do not feel safe in my truck and will imedietly be looking for a replacement that is not a Ford.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v652000 (latches/ locks/linkages) and 18v568000 (seat belts, structure). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Lamarque Ford (3101 williams blvd, suite f, kenner, la 70065, (504) 443-2500) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The panoramic sun roof will not close and is stuck in the partially opened position. The glass has a partial crack in it and I am concerned that it will shatter injuring any passengers. The vehicle only has 21000 miles. I believe this to be a design defect. I contacted Ford customer service and they refused to take any corrective action on this problem. One month earlier the roof would not close and I brought the vehicle to the dealership and they pressed on the glass and finally the glass panel returned into the track and closed.
Plastic tracks on panoramic sunroof broke. While stationary. I was unable to close sunroof.
On 3/12/19, this vehicle was in motion on a federal highway with a driver, and (1) passenger in the front seat. Earlier in the day, said vehicle was in the dealership for a recall fix. The recall was to fix the driver and passenger door locking mechanisms from opening prematurely. While in motion on the highway after leaving the dealership the passenger side door came open and would not latch any further. During the initial repair process there were customer service issues with dealership staff; after speaking with the dealership again following the incident their response was, "that's what you get. " due to incidents at the dealership it is believed the repair was not completed correctly on purpose risking lives of those in the vehicle.
Rear door latches will not open when it's very cold outside. Have had two recall services to fix the problem, but it persists.
2016 Ford F-150 super crew has ongoing issues with both the door latches not re latching or releasing and the door locks not locking or unlocking when in freezing conditions (4 doors and all 4 have different variations of this problem). All applicable recalls and updated recalls from Ford have been performed by the dealership yet the problem continues.
Had door latch freezing TSB and recall both performed by dealer. On Feb 8, 2019, drivers door once again would not latch shut due to freezing of the latch. After letting truck idle with full heat on for a while, it appeared to have thawed enough to latch. It flew open on the first turn I made. Somebody is going to get killed if this problem isn't fixed.
Have gone through 2 recall fixes and problem remains: doors can be opened but will not latch in cold weather. If driving is a necessity, you drive holding the door closed or with bungie cords. This is a safety issue as the latches are not latching and Ford has yet to be able to fix this.
Freezing door latches causing the door not to stay shut in cold temperatures or open the door can fly open because you think that it is shut while you're driving down the road causing damage to the door losing personal belongings and if a occupant is not seatbelted flying out of the vehicle the doors on these trucks will not latch when you shut the door they bounce back open and then sometimes you think their latched and they're not then taking a turn and the door swings open Ford is aware of this problem they have put out TSB's and fsa in order to try to repair it with no success I personally have had my truck in the shop for this issue 5 to 6 times with no fix this is very dangerous and scares my kids that are inside the back of my truck when their door flying open or when they have to hold it shut while we're driving down the road to school.
During low temperatures the door latch does not engage, leaving the door free to swing.
