2 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

During the scheduled oil change service on 8/15/2024, I was informed that wheel lug nuts were swollen and tire rotation and inspection were not completed, even though I paid for a maintenance package. I replaced the lug nut two years ago for the same issue, and this will be my 3rd time replacing lug nuts on the vehicle.

3 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2024

I had my vehicle in for a state inspection at a Ford dealership. They told me they could not remove the rear wheels because the lug nuts were swollen. In order to remove the rear wheels the lug nuts will be destroyed. What happens if I get a flat tire? how will I get the tire off? I have to get a new set of lug nuts and have them available if I ever want to get the rear wheels off. This is nuts (excuse the pun)! Ford should replace these lug nuts not me.

4 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

Oem lug nuts swelled according to pinnacle Ford resulting in extraordinary measures and costs to remove them. The lug nuts are available for inspection.

5 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

6 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

The lug nuts on all four wheels needed to be replaced because of swelling. This was determined by evergreen Ford when I brought the truck in for oil change and tire rotation, etc. If this was not found it could have been a huge safety risk for the occupants in the truck and for others. A wheel very likely could have come off causing sever injury or death. If evergreen Ford did not notice the problem I could heave been driving with faulty lug nuts. I did replace all the lug nuts at the Ford dealership. I am very surprised that Ford motor company did not issue a recall on this hazardous condition sooner, that knowing very well for several years, that this issue existed. I spent $82. 32 + tax that Ford should have taken care of thru a recall. Most importantly I hope that no one gets injured or dies because of the faulty part which Ford motor should have taken care of a long time ago.

7 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2023

9 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2023

This is in regard to problems with the lug nuts on my 2016 Ford f150. The truck has approx 31,000 miles. I can no longer use the lug wrench provided by the manufacturer (Ford) because the lug nuts are "swollen", according to the dealership. The dealership refused to rotate my tires because of this issue. They advised Ford would not warranty replacement of the lug nuts. They admitted the lug nuts were "defective". This is definitely a safety issue and should be repaired at no cost by Ford. Please issue a recall on these lug nuts.

10 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2023

Having my tires serviced at Ford dealer and they indicated I have swollen lug nuts so they can't rotate the tires right now. I asked about repairing the problem and the service tech recommended I buy parts from an auto parts store because the oem parts will still be a problem because the oem parts are defective.

Lug nut were swollen so they couldn’t be taken off without cutting. Ford technician stated it is a know issue that Ford knows about. Aluminum caps over steel bolts. According to the tech at the dealership, they could also break while driving due to the swelling.

12 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2023

I went for service to the goodyear dealer where I bought my tires for an oil change and tire rotation. They were able to do the oil change, but unable to rotate the tires due to what is, apparently, a very common issue. The manager apologetically told me I had swollen lug nuts, that it was caused by the use of aluminum clad steel nuts, and even if they got the lug nuts off, it was quite possible they wouldn't be able to put them back on safely. He said they didn't have any replacement lug nuts and suggested I buy solid steel (chrome plated) aftermarket dorman lug nuts (costing upwards of $5 to $7 each), offering to install them for free when I brought the truck back for tire rotation. He also indicated that it was a safety hazard, because if I had a flat tire, it was quite likely that I would be unable to change it. I have verified his statements. In fact, I was shocked to find that this is a very common, very well-known issue, and wonder why you haven't already done something to compel Ford to issue a recall? leaving thousands of motorists stranded on the side of the road because they were blindsided by this issue is bound to lead to some potentially serious repercussions. I have no file to upload. Thankfully, I found out about this the easy way. Shame on you if you sit idly by while others are finding out the hard way.

13 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2023

Lead frame failure. Electrical component attached to valve body on transmision. On multiple occassions my truck would downshift from 6th gear to 2nd gear. The first time I was traveling at 55mph with an engine rpm of 1500/1600s, on flat ground with no load and not attempting to speed up or slow down. This caused the engine to rev up to 4500 rpm causing me too very sudden and violent jerk forward. After a few seconds normal driving resumed. I contacted my local dealership for service and over the next couple of days had a wrech symbol pop up twice and that said see manual. Nothing in my owners manual helped me solve that. And the truck would only accelerate very slowly until you got up to around 35mph then normal driving resumed. . On the next occassion a few days later, while driving to the dealership for service regarding this issue the problem occurred again under nearly identical conditions. This time the at faster/express way speed of 70mph. This cause not only a sudden jerk forward but also caused me to jerk my steering wheel sending me into another lane. No other drivers were next to me and no one was hurt, injured, or damaged. Normal driving resumed after a few seconds. While researching this issue online I was able to discover hundreds of accounts for drivers wanting to know why their transmissions suddenly downshifted on them too. These issues are problematic at best and deadly at their worst. In 2013 you determined these issues were so bad as to result in a national recall. The same problem is still occurring. I reached out to Ford and this is my problem they say.

14 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2023

Factory installed lugnuts cannot be removed for tire rotation during a scheduled oil change service at preston Ford in aberdeen maryland reason given is that the lugnuts had swollen and a lug wrench could not fit over them had to buy all new lugnuts. I feel Ford should be aware of this because it is a safety concern if you have a flat tire and try to loosen the lug nuts, the lug nut wrench will not fit over the lug nut posing a possible dangerous situation, especially if you’re in a remote location service was performed on 26 January 2023 lugnuts installed February 1, 2023 at preston Ford aberdeen maryland. I do have a Ford issued case number cas41112248p3c1n3. I am asking Ford to recall these lugnuts, and credit me for the price of a standard set of lugnuts and labor required to install them.

15 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2023

Lug nuts were swolen and auto shop recommended replacement by a certified mechanic. We were told by a certified mechanic swolen lug nuts can snap off putting pressure on the other lug nuts. Charles mckee, 7918 price avenue, b. R. La 70811. On 10/11/21, I brought my 2016,Ford, F-150 into hollingsworth richardson, baton rouge, la for an oil change, and tire rotation. I was informed by the intake clerk that the technician could not rotate the tires because he could not remove the lug nuts. Later, I discovered that from. About 2010 to 2015, Ford manufacturing used composite materials over the lug nuts that would swell, thus rendering the lug nuts immovable. I contacted Ford manufacturing, and made a complaint. They were to respond within 24 hours. Two days later, after not receiving a response, I contacted Ford via chat, and was told that my case had been summarily closed. This potentially dangerous defect required me to purchase 24 replacement lug nuts at a cost of $73. 00, then take my vehicle to a local mechanic, who used a compression air wrench to remove the defected lug nuts, and replace them with those that I purchased. The mechanic who did the replacement work did not charge me for his work, having had the same problem with Ford. Regarding the on-line chat fmc, and their dismissal of my complaint, I took screen shots with my cell phone, nd saved it to my picture file. If there is a class action suit log pending, I would like my name to be added to the list.

27 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2020

Luckily I was not stranded on the side of the road but having worked for Ford this is a known issue and has now happened to both of my Ford trucks. Ford makes lug nuts with aluminum casings that after 1-5 uses become swollen and making it impossible to remove lug nuts from vehicle especially in an emergency situation which could result in someone taking more time than needed on the side of the road struggling to break said lug nuts loose and will result in someone being struck by another vehicle. . This has been an ongoing issue for 10 + years. I have spent hundreds of dollars replacing these lug nuts. Multiple of which had to be cut off by mechanics. Please do something!!.

33 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

Took truck for regular service and advised that they could not rotate tires. Lug nuts are of a flawed design that swell due to heat, moisture etc. Dealer mentioned that I should buy replacements from an auto store as Ford is still selling the same defective lug nuts. Issue is so common that service dept said Ford actually engineered and sent a specialized tool to dealers to remove these defective parts. Advised that in the event of a flat tire, I would not be able to change due to lug nuts swelling and tool not fitting. Not only are customers on the hook for $200+, but also possible towing fees for a non-mechanical, routine issue.

34 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2019

Failure of integrated wheel ends (iwe) on both front wheels due to seal failures and loss of vacuum. Symptoms: grinding or groaning at low speeds with or without brakes applied. Vibration in steering wheel and brake pedal. Dealerships will initially deny problem and blmae the brakes (I. E. Dragging caliper). My truck was inspected by 3 shops to rule out the brakes and I still received a similar comment at the dealership. 1/30/dealership finally confirmed issue and replaced both iwes at 35090 miles. This problem has been an ongoing issue with Ford for many years based upon the vast number of complaints on truck forums. Numerous complaints of iwe failures. The problem is so frequent that the first recommendation from most dealerships is to replace the vacuum solenoid or inline check valve. In my case, the replacemnt parts did not fix the problem.

35 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2018

An unsafe, road hazard, a booby trap f150 truck. This is what I got from a Ford dealer in covington. An unsafe truck. Whose fault that the truck is on the roads? would like to find out. Ford comp. Or the dealer? we are an older, seniors, minority couple just trying to buy our first f150 truck. On Dec. 31st 2018, bought a 2016 f150 Ford truck from this dealer. I was told that this truck is covered by a special Ford comp. Take back the truck. I have his message on my voice mail. They will try to fix it full warranty being a buy back truck, including even the light bulbs, on top of the regular warranty. . Said that vibration came from the wheels no, called them again, sent them few emails. I told them that I will go on a hunger strike in front of their dealer. Finally, the owner, math, called me to or they will give me another truck. They knew that the truck is not safe to drive on the streets. It's road hazard. And not talking about the smoke inside the cabin. You can die of suffocation. Drove another our or so to their dealer. Had erddyn, the seller guy to drive test the truck. After few minutes of drive, we noticed the vibration. He said is normal. Then it started to vibrate even worst. I asked him about the strong smoke smell. Did not say anything. Got back to the dealer, inspected the truck. The truck was in good shape. After 2 hours of talk with the owner, they offer me get me another truck. Older year model, inferior class. Did not accepted, so, they said hit the road. And left after wasting over 3 hours. So, here I am with a very unsafe truck driving on the roads. Sooner or later an accident is gonna happen, or me dying of suffocation in the cabin. No. I'm gonna protest in front of their dealer , and then I'm gonna do the same in front Ford motor company headquarter. Is their fault too. Putting back on the roads a unsafe car? and covington Ford to sell it.
