1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2020

Driving eastbound on I-10 at 75 -80 mph, on a mountain, suddenly advanctrac fault warning and engine power lost. Vehicle entered limp mode. I was forced to limp on the shoulder to reach a safe area to stop with cell service and wait for a tow truck. This was a very dangerous situation. Semi traffic at high speeds were blowing past very little shoulder space to navigate. At each guard rail I was forced to stop - wait for a break in traffic- restart and pray for enough momentum to get around the area. I finally limped into wilcox az and contacted Ford roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed 74 miles to smith Ford in lordsburg nm $280. Fra advised that due to covid 19 no personal transportation is available. No alternate transportation is available in wilcox az. Smith Ford service does not open until Monday. Another roadside service $205 put computer on it. Code p2112 throttle actuator a control system stuck closed. Pyramid roadside service found damaged wiring behind accelerator pedal and loose pedal. I had to walk alone in the desert to find a hotel. I eventually walked another 2 miles pulling a suitcase to a grayhound station to phoenix Sunday (274 miles). I will contact dealer tomorrow. Ford has been aware customer satisfaction program to replace defective etb 2015 & 2016 f150. I purchased may 5, 2019 and was not made aware of potentially dangerous situation. No recall was issued for this dangerous defect. Not only could I have been seriously injured on the interstate, I was put in very high risk situations both due to covid 19 high risk in this part of the country but also my personal safety being alone without transportation in an area with limited resources. Thus far I am out of pocket $800. 00 and do not know what additional expenses I may incur until my truck is repaired. I live in papillion, ne and have a long way to go to get back home.

2 Wiring problem

While diving onto an interstate on ramp, the back glass shattered. Nothing struck the glass, it just broke. When the window was replaced, it was discovered the rear defroster wiring had burned both on the window and in the truck. The rear defroster overheated the window and caused it to shatter. It nearly started a fire.

5 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2018

The tailgate opens on its own randomly while parked and when moving. This first started happening in the fall of 2018 and I still on going and happen to me again this weekend 1/14/2020 Ford had issued a recall for this issue on 2017 and newer trucks but mine is not listed in the recall. How do I get it added to the recall to fix this safety problem. The recall covers f-250, f-350 and f-450 trucks from the 2017 through 2019 model years. All the trucks have electric tailgate latch release switches in the tailgate handle. Ford says water can get into the electrical wiring and cause a short circuit, activating the switches and releasing the latches. That could allow loose cargo to fall onto the road.

6 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

I had my truck towed to auto fair Ford and had to have the fuel pump replaced with $100 extended warranty and the car is a year old. After fixing it they were having issues with it not starting and called Ford to trouble shoot the issue. Today 3/2/18 they called to say a mouse or rodent chewed through the wiring. I have lived I'm my home since 1999 and many cars in the drive way this has never happened before. My brother said the wiring is soy based. I called liberty mutual insurance and comprehensive has a $500 deductible. They will look at the truck 3/5/18 at auto fair Ford in manchester nh. I now have to pay$600 to a vehicle I have owned less then 5 months to auto fair Ford. Seems odd this is happing on a new vehicle.

7 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2017

Purchased used 2016 F-150 in oct 2017. Shortly after purchase tailgate would randomly open while vehicle was in motion. Power tailgate would also open when key fob was used to lock vehicle. Tail lights would also illuminate brightly as if brakes were applied when they were not when vehicle was in motion. Other times tail lights would flicker on and off when vehicle was in motion. When computer was scanned no trouble codes were found. Eventually after several trips to BMW dealership in spokane wa where vehicle was purchased vehicle was taken to wendle Ford in spokane wa. At wendle Ford technicians found extremely frayed wiring harness in area at rear of truck where bed and frame meet. Wendle tech's said that they had never seen this type of damage / defect before, and when checking with Ford corporate there were no service bulletins reference this type of problem. This description of events was prompted after reading a news report of Ford super duty trucks exhibiting tail gate openings while vehicle in motion. All service notes and documentation can be obtained through wendle Ford, spokane wa.
