Between 35 -45 mph transmission seems confused on shifting, sounds like sensor or fluid control issue, also mild periodic vibrations 1-2 sec at random times also 12v to 120 v transformer constantly faults even when low amp device is connected. Both have been previously reported this to service dept but issue seems to be ignored. . .
Took my 2017 Ford F-150 in for a diagnostic on may 8 2026 for wrench symbol check engine light and issues down shifting and sliding tires shop manager and technician claimed the vehicle is unsafe to drive and talked to the service manager deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive wanted it grounded do to the safety concerns related to recall 26s28 (pcm/trs) stated the down shifting is cause catastrophic failure to all mechanical components transmission engine and rear end kidding the tires especially in wet weather the truck would cause a accident. . Cause the sliding of the tires. . So my truck is at apple Ford of lynchburg grounded as of may 9 2026 I still owe on the truck and have no ride dealer nor manufacture was willing to pay for a rental that cost $65 a day wanted me to pay then reimburse me once a remedy was available I cant afford that. . 1600 a month we are roughly 2 months away from hopefully a remedy being available stated by recall website. . So if my truck is showing all the signs of the described in the recall(26s28) has stated in it why is Ford not putting a do not drive on the recall for all these trucks if the technician seems them unsafe. . I shouldn't have to pay for a rental I cant afford cause Ford is lacking a remedy and wont even buy it back cause of safety issues codes po732 inccorect 2nd gear ratio.
Going down highway (60mph) a sudden rear wheels lock up jerking the steering wheel out of my hand sudden down shift causing me to be put in the median. . . Wrench symbol pops up trucks in limp mode. . . No 1-6 gear light or light to show if I am in p. R. N. D. M. 1. 2. Truck won't start back up until it wants too if you cut it off in limp mode (factory reset) unhooking negative battery cable dosent work. Check engine light appear had is scanned showed issues with body control, modules power control modules and the transmission range sensor power steering loss of voltage. . It constantly does it when ever it wants to with no warning with conditions getting worse truck now pops out of gear when stopped if in limp mode. Wrench symbol never disappears still no 1-6 light on the dash. The sudden down shift only occurs sometimes but down shift is called a money shift its catastrophic to all mechanical components (transmission. Motor. Rear end) truck being diagnostic at Ford in a few days. . Cooperate contact has been made multiple times with no help!!!.
My 2017 f150 5. 0. The transmission shift sensor is intermittent. Changing gears while driving at low speeds. The indication panel flashes like a christmas tree. It locked up the brakes twice. Why isn't there a recall for it. The truck only has 73000. Miles.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving in fifth gear, the vehicle suddenly downshifted into second gear. Five minutes later while driving in third gear, the vehicle abruptly downshifted to second gear. The fault with the electrical system was displayed. The recall letter for NHTSA campaign number 26v237000 (power train) was received. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was contacted, who informed the parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.
I started my truck this morning and turned on the heat and defrost. Came inside to gather my things for work and when I returned back there was a strong burning smell both inside and outside. I placed my work items in the back seat, closed the door. I heard something falling and found the back windshiled windshield had exploded.
Vista roof not operating as intended.
While driving vehicle shifts from 6 gear to first gear on 6r80 transmission amd hard shifts. . Wheels lock upbwhen vehicle downshifts abruptly. . . . . Spoke with Ford mechanic and this is a known issue with lead shield and or speed sensor. . This item need a recalled and repaired. . . No codes are thrown but it is a well know issue. . . Recalls are on 10r80 transmissions lead shield but not 6 speed. Please help.
While driving down the road all of a sudden vehicle slams then shifts down indicator lights for gear selection starts flashing. It has happened 4 times so far this week February 17, February 19 of 2026.
The front driver door lock/latch actuator is failing. The driver door does not lock or unlock using the key fob or the interior power lock button. The only way to lock or unlock the door is manually with the key or by pushing/pulling the lock from inside the vehicle. This issue started shortly after we had a historic/unusual cold freeze in florida. The vehicle is kept outside, so it was exposed to the freezing temperatures. This creates a safety and security concern because the driver door power lock system does not work properly and may prevent the door from locking or unlocking normally when needed. The issue has not yet been inspected by a dealer or independent repair shop. No warning lights or messages appeared before the failure. The component is still installed on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request.
I seen there were some issues going around with the 6r80 and wanted to voice my concerns as I am having this issue as well. Intermittently ive been having issues where ill be driving, could be doing 65 down the highway. The wrench light pops up for a second and my truck slams down into 2nd or 3rd gear and goes into limp mode. This could happen at any given time without warning. This just happened to me on Monday, went and got a code reading, and have a code for the output shaft speed sensor. Although I was fine, it is certainly not okay the truck just decided to slam down into gear ultimately slowing down the vehicle tremendously fast while being in traffic. Could have caused an accident or worse.
While driving, my 2017 Ford f?150 experienced a sudden loss of the output shaft speed (oss) sensor signal, causing the transmission to stay stuck in a higher gear and triggering the wrench light. The truck lost power and would not shift properly. A diagnostic scan showed two transmission codes: one for the oss sensor and a second code indicating an intermittent electrical signal drop. I contacted a Ford dealer before the repair, described the symptoms, and asked for an estimate. The service advisor did not disclose any known issues and never called me back after saying he would check parts availability. These symptoms match the known failure pattern of the molded lead frame in the 6r80 transmission. My truck exhibited intermittent behavior, harsh shifting, and unsafe drivability. I had to pay $1,250 out of pocket to replace the lead frame to restore normal operation. I later learned that NHTSA has opened an engineering analysis into 2015–2017 f?150 trucks for this exact issue (oss signal loss due to internal electrical degradation of the lead frame). My vehicle’s symptoms, diagnostic codes, and required repair are consistent with the defect under investigation. This failure creates a safety hazard because the truck can suddenly lose the ability to accelerate or shift correctly, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. I am requesting that NHTSA include my vehicle in the investigation and that Ford be required to address this defect.
Since the brake recall was performed when driving the brake light will come on in the instrument cluster. When the light comes on the brake pedal gets stiff. Like it's stuck and takes a little effort to break free. This is not present when the light is off. Before the recall was performed I never had an issue with the brakes or the light coming on. Also. The door ajar light in the instrument cluster comes on when all the doors are completely closed. Will turn off after pulling over and turning the truck off, and back on. Sometime it comes on for a whole day no matter how many times I restart it, then be fine the next time I use the truck.
Fords around the 2017 year have an issue with their backup cameras not working which is the issue mine is having. When putting truck in reverse backup camera is fully fuzzy with green lines or just goes fully back. It still beeps and can detect something close, but the actual camera doesn't work anymore.
The contact's husband owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was stopped at a red light, the vehicle shut off with an "alarm" alert message on the instrument panel. The contact's husband sought assistance and had the vehicle jumpstarted, and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an oil change was performed, and the battery was tested, and the contact was informed that the battery was in good condition. Upon leaving the mechanic, the vehicle shut off again but another attempt to jumpstart the vehicle failed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The vehicle remained with the dealer for four days; however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure persisted upon return of the vehicle and the vehicle was towed to lafontaine Ford grand rapids (3385 alpine Ave NW, grand rapids, mi 49544); where it remained unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 74,800.
Truck has been downshifting at low gears prior to this main incident. Usually at low speeds between the 1-3 gears. But today I was driving down the highway at approximately 65 mph in the 6th gear and without warning it seemed to electrically down shift into 1st gear. I describe it as electrically because the rpm’s dropped almost instantly for a second and seemed to reboot. Which is extremely dangerous especially on a busy highway. Not only could I cause me to crash but also others to wreck into my self and poses a incredible risk for my fellow drivers and this is the reason for my complaint. Going from the 6th gear to 1st has to be some sort of recall and or an indication of far greater problem. What is even more odd there have been no check engine lights on for any of these instances.
The rear camera displays vertical lines. The camera has been replaced, the tailgate wiring harness has been replaced. The wiring integrity has been verified by Ford technician. The code b115e-08 is diagnosed. Ford wants $1000 to 'replace ' the camera. ???? I bought a new camera. Its not a faulty camera. There are 100,000+ 2017 Ford truck recalls for this same issue. Its all over Ford f150 forum, google etc. Why isnt my truck included? all Ford wants to do is replace all the modules and send me on my way for $1000.
While driving aout 50 mph in drive truck suddenly downshifted to second gear locking the rear tires up and nearly getting rear ended by another car. The drive indicator light was flickering and the manual m2 was lit up as if it didnt know if it was in manual shift mode. Stopped on the side of road and turned vehicle off and back on but problem continued. About a mile or so down the road the problem stopped. Taking to the dealer today to have checked out. No codes were thrown.
Transmission suddenly downshifting. Slamming into gear. Not catching. Due to electrical problem.
Backup camera quit working.
I bought my 2017 Ford shelby f150 (v8 5. 0l, 6r80 transmission) used from a dealership in 2022, and noticed when depressing the sport mode on the shifter, and hard acceleration, that the truck will suddenly downshift to a very dangerous gear while on the freeway. I heard the ntsa engineering analysis that is ongoing, and wanted to include my experience. Since I don't touch the sport mode on the truck, it has not happened since. Ford needs to do a recall on this very dangerous issue.
Truck is dropping gears/drop into neutral/reverse/park while driving. Problem initially began only within the instrument cluster, but as time went on it progressed to dropping gears with erratic gear indication on the instrument cluster (flickering through p n d r m 1 2). A video can be provided upon request, but cannot be attached to this inquiry. Once the truck was taken into the shop I was made aware of other f150s of the same year/model having the same issue, and that Ford is currently investigating. The technician at the Ford dealership correlated the issue to the lead frame harnesses part.
Was driving down the highway and there was a strong smell like something electrical was burning. I thought it was someone's brakes or clutch burning. About 3 minutes later I stopped and went into a store and when I came out my whole back window was shattered. In doing research online, I see this appears to have been a common problem with Ford f150's since 2010.
I took my 2017 Ford f150 XLT super cab 4 x 4 into matthews-currie Ford dealership. It was diagnosed unsafe to drive. They replaced the transmission & driveshaft. The truck still was not functioning correctly. Took it back into the same dealership where they determine the engine was also bad. They ordered a junkyard engine that leaked all of the oil due to a loose or faulty oil pan plug. & had the truck in their possession for well over two months. The truck still does not operate correctly & they are refusing to stand behind their work. No warning lights. No indications of problem other than how it drove. There is no cooperation from another dealership due to this one working on it prior. I pay for an extended warranty that nobody wants to honor due to the fact that this dealership has worked on it and they don’t want to get involved after having all of this work done by somebody else. My safety was put at risk due to the fact that the driveshaft & transmission & engine were all failing at the same time & the dealership proved that by not letting me leave with my vehicle. Once they diagnose the issue. They said it was on roadworthy. This put me in a position of having to rent vehicles out of my own pocket & be reimbursed 50% of the cost of rental. They had the truck returned to them due to problems. They did not diagnose when I asked them to do a full diagnosis of the vehicle when I noticed it had an immediate problem one day into owning it. This worries me because not only do they want to not honor their work. They have caused additional electrical problems to the radio. & the air conditioner not cooling as it did before they replaced the engine. They stated maybe I should try to buy a more extensive extended warranty & they would consider fixing it. They treated me very unprofessionally & could not give a descriptive explanation of where they got the replacement used engine who rebuilt the transmission & why the electronics & air conditioner failed.
The door locks on all four doors keep freezing and will not stay locked. I have to thaw them out with a hair dryer to get them to lock closed. With my kids in the vehicle and driving down the road at normal operating speeds the doors will just pop open enough to hear the road noise outside and the interior lights come on along with the doors open warning on the main dash. My children have to hold onto the door handles to keep the doors somewhat closed until we get to our destination. While this happens I am forced to go lower than normal speed limits and drastically slow down in turns just to keep the doors from swinging open while completing the turns all while my kids hold onto the doors. This is extremely dangerous. But I'm forced to do this as my kids need to get to school and I need to get to work. I have read that Ford has chosen this is not a concern for recall. I feel this should be a recall as peoples lives are at danger of flying out and and the danger to the general public.
Back up camera blue screen in 2017 Ford f150.
The wiring for the rear defrost caught fire. A week later it caused the rear glass to completely shatter. We didn't know it was the rear defrost wiring until we had the glass replaced and were able to see the wires fried. I have farm animals and routinely leave my 3 children in their carseats in the truck with it running when it's cold outside and I feed our animals. If it had caught fire with my kids in the truck I wouldn't have known and they wouldn't have been able to get out. I talked to 2 Ford dealerships, 2 different lawyers and a service rep through Ford's website. Even though this exact issue is everywhere on Ford forums no one will do anything about it because there's no current recall. The only thing we could do to make sure this doesn't happen again is to pull the fuse for the rear defrost. This is a devastating accident waiting to happen and no one will do anything about it.
I live in a cold climate, wa state, and own a 2017 Ford f150 XLT. On several occasions, both the drivers front door and passenger front doors have opened while driving without activating the door handle. This only occurs when it is wet with rain or snow and below freezing outside. On several occasions, when wet and cold, the doors on this truck will not latch shut as the latching mechanism is freezing on the interior of the vehicle doors. This truck has already been into the Ford dealer and the door recall notice has been addressed and fixed per corwin Ford. The problem has not been resolved and continues to this day in an extremely dangerous state. I was advised there was nothing else they could do to help the door suddenly and unexpectedly opening issue and that I should contact both Ford and NHTSA. This is a very dangerous situation as my son was driving home from the ski resort, the doors would not latch shut and a passenger nearly fell out of the vehicle. This is unacceptable and extremely disappointing. I feel this safety issue has not been handled by Ford motor company and I am very afraid to have my son drive this truck in this dangerous condition. Please contact me regarding this complaint as I can give further details on the issue and send videos of this issue occurring. When this occurs, there are no warning lamps present. Please see the attached repair invoice for the recall notice.
Similar to the 10-14 f150 recall for the 6r80 transmission lead frame failure. Driving down the freeway at speeds of 50-70 in 6th gear truck has down shifted into first causing loss of control. Transmission then disengages entirely and loses power mid driving. After turning truck off and waiting, starting the truck it returns to normal. Failing speed sensor and lead frame are the cause in this transmission from Ford called the 6r80 in year models 10-19 however recalls were only ever issues for the 10-14 generation for repairs of less than 10 years of age or 150,000 miles. My truck is the generation after, a 2017 model with 146,000 miles. Truck is currently at Ford for repairs and diagnostics. In the most recent event with the truck shifting from 6th gear to 1st yesterday I was in heavy traffic and when I lost control of truck I had to "sweep" to the side of road / ditch to avoid collision with vehicles behind and beside me at speeds of 65-75. I believe the year models 15-19 should be included on the existing recall if equiped with the 6 speed automatic transmission being the fact they were built and manufactured with the same failing parts before the current recall was put in place a few months ago according to online sources. Fortunately I was safe in all 3 incidents but yesterdays close call has forced my hand in "parking" the truck until Ford can repair any malfunctioning parts. If a recall is placed after my trucks repair it would be nice to have compensation for this bill. Truck has had scheduled maintenance including transmission on or before owners manual recommendations at designated Ford dealers other than oil and brake changes which I do myself at home. Please consider the 6r80 transmission as a point of recall for all models not just earlier generations as most of these trucks may not have the mileage yet needed to have serious mechanical failure. In which some failures can have trucks towing loads than can cause serious crash events.
My 2017 Ford F-150 demonstrates every single aspect of an existing recall for 2017 f150 vehicles. However my VIN number is not included in the recall. My truck shifts suddenly in and out of gear causing me to have momentary instances of no power. This has happened, for example, turning left on busy roads with acceleration disappearing in critical moments. The vehicle downshifts suddenly on occasion. The gear indicator moves rapidly between gear 10 and gear 1. The vehicle routinely does not downshift to 1st gear at stoplights. The vehicle often shifts hard from gear to gear. The vehicle sometimes cannot go to the next gear, say from 7 to 8, and will be in some version of neutral during this time before finally connecting. Electronic issue plague this particular vehicle. All of these items have been noted in the existing recall. I am requesting an expansion of the recall to include all 2017 Ford f150's with 10 speed transmission. Ford dealer has indicated I need to replace the transmission for close to $10k. And they noted they see this problem constants - showing me a stack of folios in their repair facility for the same reason. The problem has been diagnosed by Ford dealer and an independent qualified transmission specialist shop this is an ongoing issue - per the questions below there is no specific date associated with the issue.
I am writing to express my concern regarding a recurring issue with the backup camera on my 2017 Ford F-150 larit. Although my vehicle is not currently included in any official recall, it is experiencing the same symptoms reported in recalled models—reporting distorted images, blue screens or total failure that compromise visibility and safety. This issue has been increasingly problematic, especially given the importance of a functioning backup camera for safe maneuvering and compliance, my truck is experiencing the same backup camera defect and should be included in this recall. On November 4th, I spoke with representatives from Ford customer service and Ford consumer relations to inquire whether the repairs might be covered under Ford’s goodwill policy. Unfortunately, I was informed that they would not cover the cost. Despite this response, I respectfully request that Ford reconsider covering the cost of diagnosis and repair under a goodwill policy. I am a loyal Ford customer and have maintained my vehicle responsibly. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this issue without undue financial burden, especially given its safety implications. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope we can work together to ensure my vehicle remains safe and reliable.
This first began when we went to oregon from dry central valley in California and hit rain. Multiple error messages appeared: service advance trac, check 4x4, hill assist not available, abs, steering assist fault, etc. Power steering assist was lost and is now intermittent which creates a dangerous situation. The abs brakes made load groaning noises. I went to o’reilley’s and used their obd2 scanner. It showed codes: u1012-00, u0212-00, u0121-00, p062c-00, all being communication errors. I got a new battery and had a shop scan it. The clockspring was bad so it was replaced with an oem from sunrise Ford. He can’t get any communication with any of the other modules. I researched the issues and disconnected the battery while I cleaned the abs controller connection with electrical contact cleaner. I checked some of the grounding points that weren’t checked by the shop. All of the error messages are now gone except the steering assist fault. My research showed that this may be related to a wheel speed sensor or the front hub that contains the sensor. It also might be the abs controller. I entered engineering test mode and have the following continuous dtcs: c40182, c12100, c41582, c42082, c15100, c21200, c42982, c10200. Since they all end in 00 or 82 I think they are likely related. I was told in an online forum that they are communication errors. I think that might apply to the 00 errors, but don’t know about the 82 errors. The truck has under 28,000 miles and the extended warranty expired in may 2024.
2017 f150 - v8 - 6sp/automatic transmission; original owner; 91. 5k miles; lead frame issue. . Vehicle downshifted on it's own and check engine light came on. . Additional issues with vehicle not starting and transmission not showing in gear. . Dealership finally diagnosed with lead frame issue. . Research shows recall on 2011>2016 f150's for identical issues and lead frame replacement but tells me that although recalls show a pattern, my 2017 is not covered! $1519 repair!!.
My cam phasers are starting to go out vehicle has 97,000 miles. Also, the screen display for stereo goes black frequently.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to indicate the transmission shift position. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17v053000 (power train, electrical system), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 159,000.
