Short in the rear window defroster. Within 5 minutes of turning off the defroster after only having it on for 2 minutes at 2:30am leaving work, the back window exploded outward and shattering. No rocks, no other folks on the road. Upon research, and after contacting insurance company and the glass repair company, this is a very common issue in 2015-2019 F-150s. But there are no safety recalls. Praise god my children were not in the backseat, they would have been riddled with glass. How is this not a safety issue?.
While driving on the highway on several occasions, the transmission drops from 6th gear to a lower gear, either seeming to slip, or locking the wheels causing a bad jerk. I have an appointment in two days , but am concerned that there may be more damage to my vehicle that will show up later due to this issue. I had another dealership try to charge to to repair my truck. I am hopefull that the new dealership will do right by me.
The vehicle experienced intermittent transmission-related drivability issues before the recall remedy was available. The vehicle had delayed/hard shifting, an intermittent wrench warning light, and a reduced power/limp mode condition where the transmission would not shift normally. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ford dealer on multiple occasions, including diagnostic visits on 10/09/2023, 05/12/2025, and 02/09/2026. Ford later issued recall 26s28 involving the powertrain control module/transmission control system, and the recall remedy was performed. After the recall repair was completed, the original drivability concern continued, including sluggish shifting and delayed engagement between gears. As a second attempted repair related to the wrench warning light and transmission concern, the dealer identified the possibility of a faulty transmission lead frame and reviewed replacement under the applicable coverage. However, the dealer refused to replace the lead frame because the related fault code was not currently present during their inspection. The intermittent nature of the failure causes the code to clear after the vehicle is restarted, making it difficult to capture during a dealer visit. I provided photographic proof showing the wrench warning light was present after picking up the vehicle on the same day the recall repair was supposedly completed. Despite this evidence and the continued symptoms, the lead frame replacement was not performed. The vehicle has not been involved in a crash, but the intermittent loss of normal transmission operation creates a safety concern, especially during acceleration, merging, or uphill driving. The issue has been reported to Ford and inspected by a Ford dealer. Repair documentation, photos, and service records are available.
Vehicle safety hazard & recall remedy denial recall: 26s28 / NHTSA campaign 26v237 summary of issue: I am experiencing active, unsafe vehicle symptoms directly tied to recall 26s28, including intermittent transmission signal loss, warning lights, and abrupt downshifts while driving. I initially contacted Ford in April/may 2026 immediately following the recall notice, but was informed no remedy or repair parts were available at that time, forcing me to operate a vehicle with a known driveability and safety hazard for three months. Now that the vehicle is at the dealership, Ford is refusing to perform the physical lead frame replacement under the recall/field action solely because the vehicle has not latched a permanent diagnostic trouble code (dtc), despite the technician confirming physical hardware failure. Safety impact & systemic failure: 1. Defect root cause: the lead frame degradation is the primary root physical defect of recall 26s28, not secondary damage. 2. Unreasonable safety risk: forcing drivers to operate vehicles experiencing active downshifting and loss of drive power until a specific dtc latches poses an immediate highway crash hazard. 3. Inadequate remedy program: Ford’s requirement for a specific stored dtc creates an unreasonable barrier to recall execution, denying necessary hardware repairs to vehicles experiencing the exact safety failure described in the recall. Ford must be held accountable for providing a functional physical remedy for vehicles exhibiting active recall symptoms, regardless of whether a transient electrical fault registered a permanent dtc code.
Going down highway (60mph) a sudden rear wheels lock up jerking the steering wheel out of my hand sudden down shift causing me to be put in the median. . . Wrench symbol pops up trucks in limp mode. . . No 1-6 gear light or light to show if I am in p. R. N. D. M. 1. 2. Truck won't start back up until it wants too if you cut it off in limp mode (factory reset) unhooking negative battery cable dosent work. Check engine light appear had is scanned showed issues with body control, modules power control modules and the transmission range sensor power steering loss of voltage. . It constantly does it when ever it wants to with no warning with conditions getting worse truck now pops out of gear when stopped if in limp mode. Wrench symbol never disappears still no 1-6 light on the dash. The sudden down shift only occurs sometimes but down shift is called a money shift its catastrophic to all mechanical components (transmission. Motor. Rear end) truck being diagnostic at Ford in a few days. . Cooperate contact has been made multiple times with no help!!!.
Ford motor company conducted the recall that is referenced on 04/14/2026. It is now 07/07/2026 (almost 3 months later) and Ford still has not provided the fix for this recall. It is my understanding that this recall is a software issue; if so, why has Ford taken so long to provide the fix. The reason for my complaint at this time is that I was using my Ford F-150 on the turo platform. Turo is a car sharing platform. The Ford was being rented on the turo platform when the recall happened in April 2026. That individual that had the truck rented had to return the vehicle due to this safety recall. Also, on the day of the recall, turo "delisted" the truck (which is required by law or by turo's policy) and it can not be rented again until that safety recall is addressed. Also, I had another booking on the turo platform that had to be cancelled because of this safety recall. Thus, this safety recall has not impacted me financially as well as other individuals that use their vehicles to produce an income to make a living. At this point, I rarely use the truck as well due to this safety recall. I believe that Ford should provide the remedy/corrective action for this safety issue sooner than later. To identity such an issue then to take this long to provide the fix (especially is this is a software issue), seems egregious. I would like some assistance in pressing Ford to provide this fix due to the safety issue itself and due to the financial loss that it has caused. I'm attaching a report from the turo platform (excluding the names of the renters) in order to see the potential financial impact.
I started my truck this morning and turned on the heat and defrost. Came inside to gather my things for work and when I returned back there was a strong burning smell both inside and outside. I placed my work items in the back seat, closed the door. I heard something falling and found the back windshiled windshield had exploded.
I was on the freeway in eastern colorado going 75mph which is the speed limit. Luckily nobody was behind me. My truck went from 6th gear to 1st out of nowhere and I didn't know what to do, very fast deceleration and I almost lost control. I was able to manually shift with the buttons on the gear shifter back up to 6th gear. Recently on the freeway it's been acting awkward and not shifting out of 4th gear.
I got a code p0722-00 it says something about a sensor and a molded lead frame in the transmission this is affecting how the truck shifts gears and the amount of gas it consumes and in some cases it says that it can go from speed 6 to 1 currently not using it until its fix but I am reporting it just incase a recall were to happen later on.
Backup camera will just show a blue screen for a day or two, then it will work for awhile, and then it will go back to the blue screen. I’ve also had the whole system go out, including the radio, and after I turn the truck off for awhile and turn it back on, then the system starts working again.
The power moon roof components are made from plastic, which over time have cracked from sun exposure. When the rail system cracked, it caused the sliding glass panel to become loose and rattle around while driving. It also allows water to enter the inside of the vehicle when it rains, causing damage to electrical components.
In June 2025 and again in December 2025, when my truck stopped at a red traffic light and I applied my brakes to stop the vehicle, my two rear wheels/tires started to spin rapidly non-stop for 60 seconds or the duration of the traffic light, causing a great deal of smoke and noise. My truck acted like a "drag racing" machine on a short track revving its engine and spinning its tires for a very short burst of speed down the track. Cars behind me kept their distance and I thought my truck would bolt forward at any time causing a serious accident. I applied my brakes as firmly as possible, praying my truck would not lose control and bolt forward into the lane of traffic. In June, my mechanic thoroughly inspected my vehicle for four hours, going on a test drive, pulled off all the wheels and checked every pertinent component, ran 3 diagnostic code assessments and found nothing. When it happened again on December 11, 2025, I contacted another mechanic who told me he could not address the issue since it was a known Ford issue and to contact NHTSA and Ford (pe25-002). Finally, there were no warning lights on my dashboard when it happened during these two incidents.
Fords around the 2017 year have an issue with their backup cameras not working which is the issue mine is having. When putting truck in reverse backup camera is fully fuzzy with green lines or just goes fully back. It still beeps and can detect something close, but the actual camera doesn't work anymore.
Vehicle was sitting in driveway running. I turned on the front and rear defroster to clear windows before driving. Approximately 60 seconds after turning on rear defroster, the back window shattered. Multiple reports online indicate this is a common occurrence in F-150 and should be looked into further.
I work on route 95 doing road construction and I am usually running highway speeds. When leaving work heading up 95 the truck threw itself in second gear out of nowhere. Almost got hit in the fast lane because I could not maintain speed and rpm’s went to 7500. Had to pull over turn the truck off and on and it was fine. It can drive fine for a few hours or a few minutes then the transmission will downshift again out of nowhere while just throwing up a wrench light when it happens that then turns off. It has happened about ten times now. Sitting in driveway. Nice truck to scary to drive.
Shift hard while driving. Hesitates from the stop position to go when pressing the gas.
2017 Ford f150 with 2. 7 ecoboost since oct 2024 thru present error code p2450 with check engine light same issue with 2016 models and there are no recalls fore the 2017. Why??? after vehicle sitting off fore shoot periot check light comes on with same error code looks like your fixd sensor showed engine code p2450 on your 2017 Ford F-150 definition: evaporative emission system switching valve performance about engine code p2450 indicates a malfunction with the evaporative emission system switching valve, specifically its performance or operation, which may lead to incorrect fuel vapor management within the evap system.
Sudden jerking movements when accelerating and braking. Needs new transmission. Reading there have been many reports of 10r80 transmission issues with Ford.
Transmission downshifts and back tires locking up.
Driving interstate and a wrench warning came up on dash screen. I knew that wasn’t good. Two local mechanics diagnosed as circuit a (transmission) needs replaced. Park light not illuminating and won’t even crank to start. I got it started , finally, and wrench came back on. Loud “thunk” noise when switching into reverse was advised not to drive until repaired as it is dangerous to me and others recall was issued for 10 pin and needs to recalled for 6 pin ASAP Ford is welcome. To check it out anytime as I just have it setting waiting on recall. I need a truck, please issue recall.
Transmission makes a sudden hard down shift. . . . . And it always throwing codes . . . Well maintained but getting too expensive. . . . 2017 f150 ecoboost 3. 5. . . Jumped into lump mode while between 2 semi trucks and one one my side also. . . . I held down on the throttle so that it wouldn't stop in between the semis and finally had a chance to pull over. . . . Turn my vehicle off. . . It drove normal but now have another code. . . Possible misfire. . . . Cylinder 1 and 4. . . . Last month it was cylinder 3. . . I've talked with Ford on helping with the bill they said they don't do that. . . But offered me some other things that may be covered undered some other recall. . . . Every other month it's something. . . Ooo yeah, had cam phaser done also. . . . Out of pocket. . . Can't find the cam phaser bill but if you need it I can request a copy from the mechanic shop. . . . Lloyd 434-755-5522.
I was driving on the PA turnpike and upon hitting a pothole or bump the mount on the frame that the lower control arm bolts onto broke off. I was going under the speed limit with two small children in the car and a piece of my frame broke off after a slight bump. Every mechanic and person I speak to at Ford is saying it shouldn't have happened and they can't believe it. There was no warning and I drove onto the turnpike got almost all the way home before it randomly broke. I spoke with Ford and they are unwilling to help after running my VIN. They say unless I put a complaint in and you open a recall that they will not help me. This is a 2017 truck with minimal rust it should not be breaking off a simple bump on the highway. I had a 9 year old and a 10 month old in the car and the front left of my suspension broke away from the vehicle after routine driving. Something needs to be done about the situation Ford should be more concerned they have a frame break on such a new vehicle. Thank you for your time.
Back up camera does not work blank blue screen or freezes up or graney view can't see any possible hazards behind vehicle.
I purchased a 2017 f150 in March of 25’. Miraculously no issue started until approx 4000 miles after the purchase. The dealer warranty was good for 3500. In the months that preceded issue after issue began to arise. First and least important in my personal opinion. I get in my truck to head to work and my sliding back glass is laying in backseat, completely intact with the track it slides on. One would initially think the GA sun maybe warmed the adhesive to such a temp that it came loose but my truck is parked in the shade every day at work & at home. Insurance won’t cover it because they say it’s on Ford. Next I have lost power steering, when loosing it I have apparently lost all of steering, uphill downhill assistance an approx 10 other warnings that come every time I crank it. I have been driving the truck 7 months now with no power steering. Lastly and most important, the 10 speed transmission is completely faulty. The problems with it started in July. When accelerating from a stand still, like pulling on the road or highway, over 50% of the time the transmission just fails and you are a sitting duck for any oncoming traffic. Typically 2-4 secs later, the truck will catch of sudden with such a jerk it will give you whiplash. So once you made it through getting on the highway without dying, every shift of the transmission from 4th to 10th, the truck shutters and shakes so bad it seems like it will fall apart. The engine light will start flashing and you can’t go faster than 40-45 for about 15 secs until the engine light is solid again. Then while shuttering you can’t attempt to increase speed. I contacted Ford, I was completely blown off, they denied that 2017 f150 have any transmission issues. I’m forced to drive this daily because I spent all my savings on this truck. Oil change, along with oil filter have been kept up every 5,000 mi. I out everything into this truck and now I have a duct tape back window, no power steering and a transmission faulty.
When the vehicle is started, the cam phasers rattle, and yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Ford mechanics and other mechanics have stated that if not replaced, the cam phasers will eventually fail. This puts others at risk as the auto start/stop feature shuts the engine off anytime the vehicle comes to a stop. If the cam phasers failed while stopped in the road, the vehicle would not start back up, causing a rear end collision and possible injury/death to anyone on the road. The problem exists in the 2015-2018 Ford f150 3. 5l ecoboost. Ford resolved the issue in the 2019 model f150 by replacing the cam phasers with ones that are built with better quality. I am unsure if the vehicle issue has been inspected by others. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. It first appeared in my vehicle around this year.
10 speed transmission randomly threw a incorrect 10th gear ratio code and threw my truck into limp mode on the interstate in traffic. Transmission had to be rebuilt.
The moonroof gets stuck while I try to close it and stays open.
For the 4th time I am driving my truck, unexpectedly out of nowhere the transmission shifts, tires lock up, I am perked into the steering wheel and can't accelerate over 15 mph. Cars forced to Dodge around me, horns blowing and I have no choice other than creeping on side of road until I decides to move. Please do something about thus hazard before something more serious happens.
Backup camera inoperable, unsafe.
My 2017 Ford F-150 is experiencing an oil pan leak. F150 model is equipped with the 2. 7l ecoboost engine. This is a lack of rtv adhesion at the oil pan seal. My dealership wants over 1k to fix which I refuse to pay. This issue was created by poor engineering and craftsmanship on Fords end and the consumer should not have to pay to fix this known issue. I understand there is a fix that involves a 1-piece aluminum pan, as seen on many you tube videos. I'm requesting that Ford be held responsible for fixing this issue and not the consumer, who paid a lot of money for this truck. Any help in getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.
I was driving on [xxx] in dallas when the top track that holds the rear sliding window became detached from the inside of the truck, causing the sliding glass window to fall forward and into the vehicle. This window falling created a void causing me to have to pull over and repair it the best I could. I have since learned that Ford used double sided tape and a small amount of adhesive to attach the track to the vehicle. I have also learned that this is a very common problem with this window track system. My truck is being inspected by Ford this morning, but I was told that there are no active recalls for this defect. There was no advance warning for this window failure. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2017 F-150 platinum supercrew 4wd recently purchased from dealership, drove for 2k miles and started having engine knock. Did research and found identical sound, cam phaser knock/rattle. This is still a high priority issue and a known issue as it can cause engine failure and manufacturer is unhelpful and unwilling to investigate and/or offer guidance. I talked to dealership that preformed the “recall” previously and they stated that no part was replaced and Ford issued a software update to use as a bandaid instead of a permanent repair. It will cost upwards of $6,000+ to repair through dealer and Ford refuses to be of assistance. I am requesting that the NHTSA reinvestigate the issue and open back up a recall request to the general public due to it being a safety concern. If the engine implodes on the highway, it can cause a major accident and/or fatal injury to many drivers.
Paint is peeling and falling off due to a manufacturer defect and causing a driving hazard.
Composite oil pan gasket failed causing a leak of oil which also saturated the fabric liner under truck which broke do to oil saturation. It is a safety issue with the plastic oil pan as well as the liner. Do to oil leaking can cause a fire and detachment of liner which can damage other drivers. Available for inspection if it can be done soon dealership confirmed leaking and ongoing issues with oil pan on Ford f150 3. 5l ecoboost turbo. No symptoms until oil light came on do to composite plastic oil pan gasket and plug failed liner detached and can be a serious fire hazzard, environmental, and poor engineering by Ford. It was reproduced when I left the dealership only to return immediately. Engine light came on.
Drivers side door will not shut in cold weather. Unlock/lock switch will not work.
