The transmission is hard shifting and staying in 6th gear most of the time. And when I pulled into my driveway the transmission was shifting back down to first and rolling backwards before shifting back to 6th gear allowing me to make a couple feet of forward progress at a time. . .
When I started the engine at a I-10 rest stop there was no instrumentation, no speedometer, no gas guage, no turn signal, no indication of drive mode p r n d m, nothing. I think I had brake lights. I had to drive over 60 miles on I-10 and then to a walmart. I was pulling an airstrean trailer. After turning off the ignition and removing the key there was some illumination on the screen so I disconnected the battery to avoid being stranded. The next day when I stsrted the truck, all the instrumentation came back. As a result the Ford service department had no codes to read. Three weeks kater I lost cruise control for several days during the trip. When I got to a Ford service department the cruise control was working again. Twice before that the truck had dropped out of cruise control on it's own. No codes.
Since buying my Ford 2018 f150 raptor, I have had constant issues and problems with the 10r80 transmission shifting irradictly, harsh engagements, stalling between gears while losing power, loud metal noises in the transmission/under the truck, and damage already done to the transfer case and transmission resulting in a truck that needs a new transmission, cdf, and transfer case. I have had this truck worked on 8 times on the transfer case, and constant reprogramming of the pcm because the technicians at the dealerships did not know how to completely fixed it and just followed the tsbs that were given by Ford. Most of which they just reprogrammed the pcm and the adaptive learning program which Ford said it was most likely causing the issues. In 2023 they found damage inside the transfer case with metal bore damage and two valves, which they replaced, it worked for a year, and now my transmission is completely damaged permentaly from not solving the initial issues. As of October of 2025, the new TSB 25-2474 and TSB 25-2475 which addresses replacing the entire transmission and/or cdf. Of which Ford knew the whole time. This past month I was almost in 7 accidents due to the transmission shifting suddenly, not shifting at all and stalling going through an intersection with cars behind me, and Ford told me this whole time that the harsh shifts were normal or desired in these performance trucks. I have three kids under the age of [xxx] who ride with me in this truck, and almost risked their lives trying to fix these issues and almost involved in accidents from the transmission failing. The transmission and transfer case/valve bodies have been worked on at least 6 times under warranty, but now it just expired and Ford is stating they cant do anything now because it is expired, yet it is now completely broken. Ford is quoting 12,000 for a new transmission, transfer case, and cdf valve. Even though they did not fix the original issues this whole time.
