2 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

Taillight leaks water causing the blindspot sensor to burn up. Once the sensor is burned up the airbags, power door locks, power windows, heat/defrost, and the radio don't work. This is a known problem and Ford has no fix for it. It is several weeks wait to get it into Ford and costs several thousand dollars for a known problem that they are not addressing. Having no heat or defrosters in the winter make this a safety issue for everyone on the road not just the operator. Door locks and windows not working is a safety issue for the vehicle passengers.

3 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the seat belt warning light illuminated. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance company. A police report was filed; however, the information was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised that the vehicle needed to be inspected by the investigator. The failure mileage was unknown.

5 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2025

I was parked in a parking lot when I heard a crack sound. I looked down and my steering wheel had a crack around the Ford emblem large enough that the part of the air bag could be seen. The truck is kept in a climate controlled garage and this incident happened when it was not hot out. I have contacted Ford and they have said that it is not a safety concern. I feel like this is a safety concern if the steering wheel can crack and I can see my air bag without there being any form of collision or contact with the air bag or the steering wheel at the time.

6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2025

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 45 mph, he attempted to avoid a slowdown on the highway. Due to the failure, the contact's husband injured his sternum and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The contact was treated for a broken sternum. A police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic before the contact had the vehicle towed to a local Ford dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 137,447.

7 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

On February 16, 2024, the vehicle (f150 XLT super crew) that was being driven was going approximately 40 miles ph when an other vehicle came out of a side street who had a traffic stop sign. There were two school buses blocking their view and my view of anyone coming out of the development. My vehicle hit head-on the other vehicle and I blacked out. No airbag driver side deployed, but the seat-belt tension-er fully pulled on me. I awoke with alarms going off and smoke in the cab and in the engine. Fire department cut all wiring. I was taken out of the vehicle by paramedics and taken to the hospital with fractured sternum and bruises. Police were on the seen and did a report with the other driver at fault. Insurance company proceeded to have the vehicle towed and inspected and totaled the vehicle. Did not have vehicle inspected by independent company that I know of. Police report stated no air bag deployment. Hospital report showed no air bag deployment. Issues a year earlier with engine replacement by dealership under manufacturer warranty due to engine failure. No other known issues appeared for the failure.

9 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2023

On the morning of September 14, 2023 I was involved in a front end collision. I am concerned there was no airbag deployment. I was traveling 40mph 1 sec prior and slammed on brakes before impacting another vehicle. Vehicle total loss. Vehicle started flashing hazards and displayed a message on the dashscreen- I believe it had the word "safety" in the message. I was the sole occupant. I am 2nd owner of truck, which had clean vehicle history and no prior collisions. I have dashcam footage from my vehicle; person in vehicle behind me also provided dashcam footage. This is too large to upload but can be provided on request.

10 Air Bag problem

The contact called the manufacturer who referred him to the dealer for diagnosis testing, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 83,465.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2022

The steering wheel has cracked in the center area housing the air bag and horn. I believe this is a safety hazard. With the crack going over half of the way through the steering wheel, there is a chance of the air bag deploying without cause.

12 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2022

I had a front end collision with my truck. The damage was a direct hit on the airbag sensor, and my airbags nor my seatbelts deployed. I was going about 45 to 50. The pre-collision warning appeared right before I hit the vehicle but no automatic braking. The body shop that has my vehicle had safety concerns because my vehicle took the brunt of the crash right on the airbag sensor. No airbags or anything deployed, but the sensor was broken in the accident. The concern is if the sensor was hit directly, why didn't it send a signal to through the system to deploy safety restraint systems. I called Ford to inform them of my concerns. After going through several people, I was finally given a case number cas37213430 after days of trying to get them to take me seriously. They told me to take it to a Ford dealer to have it checked, but it is wrecked so how will they check it. My concern is that it didn't deploy the restraints because obviously wasn't working properly. I couldn't get all my pics to load so have more.

13 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2022

The contact's husband owned a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 62 mph, he hit the back of the a semi truck on the front driver which sent the vehicle to tailspin and caused her husband to hit the semi truck for a second time. The second collision sent the vehicle into a another tail spin before coming to a complete halt. A police report was filed. According to the police department investigation, the airbag inflator had deployed which struck her husband's forehead. The investigation also determined that the her husband's injuries were not consistent with a proper airbag deployment. The report also noticed that both the air bag and air bag inflator were found on the floor near the rear passenger side seat. In addition, the report showed bruising constant with the lower lap belt locking but the driver did not have any bruising/burns from the upper seatbelt. The contact was pronounced dead on the scene and was taken to a moratorium. The vehicle was taken to an independent tow yard and deemed a total loss by insurance. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,667.

14 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2022

This vehicle was involved in an offset rear-end collision with a semi-trailer, with the driver's side making the primary impact. The crash resulted in the death of the driver and only occupant. Both the driver's airbag and left passenger curtain airbags deployed. During the police investigation of the crash, it was determined that the steering wheel-mounted airbag assembly completely dislodged from the steering wheel, with the airbag and its assembly being located in the rear floorboard post-impact. The driver sustained a head injury possibly consistent with the airbag assembly striking their forehead area. Two out of three of the plastic retaining tabs were found to have sheered off, likely leading to the airbag assembly being ejected from the steering wheel. Police investigators documented this incident with photographs and have taken the airbag assembly as evidence.

15 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

02/08/2022 complaint airbag steering wheel assembly when deployed detached like a rocket into my face and then blew out the rear window I am assuming or it was from the collision. Front end collision into the wall of the 101 southbound fwy in mesa arizona all airbags deployed. I suffered air bag burns and bruising and my glasses frame were broken in half cutting my right eye lid. My concern is the steering wheel airbag deployed and the whole steering wheel airbag assembly detached from the steering wheel struck my face and possibly blew out the rear window. My investigation when steering wheel air bag deploys the airbag assembly remains attached to the steering wheel. I uploaded pictures of steering wheel airbag assembly notice the back was melted. In the collision the battery was damaged and post was severed possibly saving me from a electrical fire.

16 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2021

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph when the vehicle's side air bags on the driver-side, front and rear, suddenly deployed without impact. The contact then noticed that a small fire had sparked on the floorboard near their feet. The contact had pulled over to the side of the road where an observer was able to retrieve a fire extinguisher from their home and put out the fire. The contact was unable to verify if a fire report was made. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2021

The steering wheel horn button, where the airbag is behind it, is cracked. This is the second time it’s cracked since I’ve on the vehicle. The first time it was fixed by mike castrucci Ford April 22, 2019. I actually spoke to someone at kings Ford named tricia just a couple of days ago, and she told me that it was not under warranty. I tried to explain to her that this has happened before when it was under warranty and fixed already, and this was the second time, but she refused to help me. It looks like it’s called the ab module - airbag on this invoice I’m holding. At times, it seems to leak some sort of liquid slightly from the cracks, and the horn does not always work when I push on the button itself. I have included a picture of the invoice when it was fixed once before, and I’ll try to include pictures I took today of the horn button.

18 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

My air bag in the steering wheel is starting to come out I am worried it is going to deploy with the way it looks. See photo. . . I called the Ford dealership and they refused to report it.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2021

I pushed my horn and the cover that goes over horn and airbag broke/cracked. You are able to see the white from the airbag.

20 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2021

The truck is less than 40,000 miles and the dealership states that the entire vista roof frame with cables has to be replaced because it will now not open. It makes a horrible noise and this was confirmed. Also I have had the same dealership check out the white residue that continues to show up on the cover of the steering wheel. They have replaced the cap, but the white residue continues to show up and now that it is out of warranty they will not fix it.

21 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2020

In austin TX, my Ford F-150 caught fire while driving on I-35 for no apparent reason. I was able to exit the vehicle quickly but the vehicle was a total loss. Screenshots of the videos are attached and videos of the incident can be sent upon request.

23 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2019

The front dashboard warped up in front and on the passenger side over the airbag. It was reported to the dealership , Ford redd mccombs. Ford company approved to replace the dash. It was replaced after 5 months waiting. And no uncertainty of safety of dashboard over the passenger airbag ,possibly deplying or exploding. The second dash replacement has warped in the same areas and more. The areas over the passenger air bag, as well as the driver side on front dashboard. The company as well as the dealership have no explanation as to why the dashboards are warping . I have seen and photographed many other trucks with same make and model and the suffer the same problem. If a person is not looking for the problem ,they will never see it until it gets worse and the warrenty has expired and they are probably thinking its the texas heat and sun. But this is a true vehicle hazard and will continue to be addressed further if you all don't wish to help or guide me into the right direction. Iys a flaw in the design and its in all f150 trucks from 2017 to 2020. I have seen the flaw in the 2020 model at the car show that was held in san antonio TX, back in November ,2019.

24 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2019

Was driving back to my office and on the on ramp from a highway to interstate 95 south. I eased left to merge onto the interstate going about 45mph and increasing speed when my steering wheel pulled left quickly on its own power and steered us head on towards the metal guard rail in the center median. I tried to pull right but there was resistance. I noticed an uphil decent fault on my dash just before my truck struck the guard rail. Luckily I was able to last second pull the vehicle right enough where it wasn't a full head on collision and my employee in the passenger side was just sore after the fact. I am currently undergoing medical tests for back, neck and shoulder numbness as well as tension headaches . No airbags deployed! Ford said once the body is fixed where they can run tests they will see what can be done, but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. It literally tried to kill us. There was also a service advancetrack light on the dash. I previously had those faults and the dealership said it was a wheel bearing that they needed to replace. Something is going on with these vehicles.

25 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

See attached.

26 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2018

The truck was hit by another vehicle in the drivers side door. Airbags deployed in all areas of the truck. About 5 minutes after the accident, it was noticed that the drivers side was on fire. The fire department came and put the fire out and stated it was caused by the airbag catching on fire. The truck was sitting where it stopped after the wreck. The wreck occurred when the other driver swerved into its path on a city street.

27 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

On 8/11/2018 I was involve in a really bad with my new 2018 Ford f150 platinum I was coming home an it was raining all of a sudden the precollision system that alerts me started acting up I then apply brakes that was the worse mistake the trucks did not brake it slam my brakes so hard that made my truck fish tale out of control that threw me towards a concrete wall at speeds 65 miles the worse thing is that not one airbag deployed the only airbag that went off was the rear seat belt some experts had said that my truck should have never acted that way unless there is some kind of malfunction I reach out to Ford but no answer as of now.

28 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2018

June 21, 2018 we were driving down hwy 1 bypass in forrest city, ar and were hit on the driver's side, passenger door and gas tank area. The truck took the impact well and we spun 180 degrees to the opposite side of the road. The side and curtain airbags deployed and my two small children in the back seat were unharmed, including the one whose door took most of the impact. My hip was injured from the air bag that deployed from the back of my seat. As I was sitting in the seat immediately following the accident calling 911, the seat began smoking. I tried to exit out of the driver's side door and it was jammed. Smoke continued to get thicker and smelled like an electrical/plastic burning smell. I then had to crawl over the center console and exit through the front passenger door. At that point, thick black smoke was coming from my seat and the left side of the cab began to burn. The actual impact damage to my vehicle would not have totaled it out, but the fire, smoke, and water damage from the fire being put out, did. I have also filed a case with Ford motor company, as I believe this was a mechanical/electrical defect in the vehicle. Had we not been able to exit the vehicle, my entire family would have died from this fire, not the impact of the accident. From observations from the police, fire department, wrecker service, and my husband who is a mechanic, they believe that the fire was ignited when the air bags deployed. I did have heated seats, and the vehicle was clearly on when I was hit and the air bags deployed.

29 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2018

The dash over the passenger front air bag is bulging / warping upwards. The dash is also severely warping over both defroster ducts. Yesterday it was taken to the dealer to start the warranty repair procedure. Today the service manager called and told me that Ford motor company has a TSB that states that Ford no longer authorizes any repair attempts for this problem on 2015 - 2018 F-150's Ford has known about this problem since 2015 and initially just kept replacing the dash panel and the replacements would fail and they kept replacing them. . . They never fixed the problem and now they refuse to even work on it. I can supply you with a link to a thread on the F-150 forum where this problem has been discussed from 2015 till now with hundereds of owners posting about having this same problem. Will the air bag even work ? will the deformed dash cause the air bag to exit a different direction than designed ? this is a serious safety issue that Ford has known about for 4 years. I (and many others in that forum thread) have inspected new unsold F-150 trucks on dealers lots and almost all show this same dash warpage starting. I have put only 300 miles on my new truck and Ford is refusing to honor the warranty by refusing to even work on this issue. I have zero confidence in that air bag functioning as designed when its container / cover is no longer even shaped as designed.

30 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2018

Driving home a deer ran into driver side of vehicle causing minor damage and side curtain air bags deployed. Pulled over and vehicle called 911. After inspecting vehicle and witnesses from across the road made sure we were safe, it was determined the vehicle could be driven. This took about 5 to 10 minutes. While attempting to start the vehicle, the passenger went to remove a purse from the back passenger side seat and noticed a fire on the bottom of the post between the front and rear door and where seat belt restraint is located. Immediate evacuation was needed and a second 911 call was placed. The truck went up in complete flames in a matter of minutes and is a complete loss.

31 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2018

On may 27, 2018, I was making a left turn at the intersection of 19th Ave se and 121st st se in everett, wa when I was struck by a vehicle traveling the opposite direction. There was a collision damage sustained to the right bedside of the vehicle caused by the vehicle due to vehicle impact. In addition, all airbags deployed and a fire started in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Farmers insurance hired a 3rd party investigation company and concluded that the damages are mainly due to manufacturing defects with airbag and electrical system. I'm attaching farmer's denial report including forensic report.

32 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

During a head on collision the airbags attempted to deploy though did not, instead the drivers pillar airbag system caught fire, melting through the seatbelt sending flames up the side of the drivers seat, which prevented the fuel disconnect system from engaging as well it did not dial 911 from the connected phone as it should have after the crash.

33 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

Vehicle pulled out in front of me causing a frontal collision. That impact forced me and my vehicle to collide with another stationary vehicle head on. None of the airbags in my Ford f150 deployed. My speed at time of first collision was 40 mph. Speed at time of second subsequent collision is unknown. This incident happened on a city street. I have a witness dashcam video of the incident if I could upload somehow.
