The rear end of the vehicle failed and had to be completely replaced. I believe this was caused due to the ten speed transmission issues that have been reported for Ford F-150's from 2017-2020. The failure was less than ten thousand miles after the powertrain warranty had expired costing $3,467. 32. This incident happened in may of 2021. See ntsha report of technical service bulletin. This describes exactly the issue. As a result, the timing chain has been diagnosed as stretched due to the cam phaser issue. From what I understand, the safety concern is that the timing chain, if left undiagnosed/unrepaired can cause engine failure, loss of control etc. Ford has attempted to fix the vct (variable camshaft timing. Some vehicles may also exhibit an intermittent condition with no auto restart during auto-start-stop operation with or without diagnostic trouble code (dtc) p164c present in the powertrain control module (pcm). This may be due to a worn variable camshaft timing (vct) unit. To correct the condition, follow the service procedure to replace the vct units.

39 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2021

After towing for an hour or more, pulling into gas station, low rpm, engine stops, auto start. Stop warning comes on, asked to put in park and restart ---I have to rev gas to keep started--only when towing for awhile.

40 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2020

I was driving out of a gas station and the auto stop start warning came on as I was accelerating and lost all power steering and I was able to coast away from traffic. I had to put it in park and restart the engine. I have no idea what caused this issue as I put well over 400 miles a week on my truck and this was the first acurrance.

Failure Date: 03/02/2020

Smell of gasoline in passenger cabin after driving and heater on (stationary). Started in March. Dealer attempted a repair which helped. Now with cold weather and heater on again the problem has returned very badly.

44 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2019

When fueling the fuel nozzle became stuck in the capless fuel system. When we finally got the nozzle out (after 15 minutes) the flap was broken. We took it to Ford dealership and they said it was not covered under warranty due to people shoving the bigger diesel nozzles in, this was a regular auto diesel nozzle that was used.

45 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2019

On initial startup, fuel line burst directly under drivers side, sprayed fuel all over transfer case/powertrain electronics. Fire dept came to ensure safety, vehicle was towed to local Ford dealer. Vehicle currently has ~11k mi.

46 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

My truck has 15,000 miles on it. The acceleration will run away frequently (press the pedal and there is a severe lag and lack of power). There will be random engine noise when decelerating around 45 miles per hour. Also, acceleration will be rough when going from 20-30 miles per hour just before the it shifts into a higher gear. I took this to the Ford dealer and they said there are no error codes on the trucks computer system. Also, the steering will be stiff or unaligned at random times. Please assist in getting these issues corrected.

47 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Stalls while merging with traffic. Then rpms raise and truck slams violently into gear. Extremely unsafe! numerous complaints to Ford. To no avail. Please help!.

48 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2019

The engine sometimes stumbles on light acceleration like it is starving for fuel. I hit the gas, the engine starts to respond, then acts like it is going to stall. I let off the gas and hit it again, same thing. I have traveled as much as 500 ft. Before the engine responds properly. Dealer can't find anything, as it is random and doesn't produce a fault code. Doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. Happened numerous times. Dangerous situation. It has happened in heavy traffic and when I just pulled out of the garage.

49 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

I have had two run away full accelerations in this new truck. I accelerated firmly and the accelerator refused to disengage. At over 90 mphm I put the car in neutral, the rpm increased and I shut off the key. Next time in the same drive it happened again and I immediately shut off the key. I will notify my dealer tomorrow. I will not drive in this vehicle again. As an experienced commercial pilot I have been trained how to deal with this issue but the public has no clue what to do.

50 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

In park and truck rolls, and the transmission is severly slipping, and smells like gas.

51 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2018

Vehicle stalls whenever coming to a stop after towing for more than an hour. Requires the vehicle to be placed in park to restart, but will continue to stall out immediately. Dangerous at intersections and stop-and-go traffic. Also stalls (when towing) when attempting to restart after refuelling. Only way to get the vehicle to start without stalling it to keep the gas pedal pressed to keep the rpm above 1500; or wait 10-15 mins for engine to cool. No check engine/computer system error given at all. Only stalls when vehicle has been towing over a long distance. Occurred 20+ times a day over the course of traveling across the us and canada in July/August 2018. Took the vehicle into Ford service center in longmont, CO, but were unable to diagnose with no code. I am seeing more and more reports of the same problem occurring with 2018 Ford F-150 2. 7l ecoboost models. . Read more...

52 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

Same issues I'm reading here. Vehicle frequently makes a loud bang when started. Shifts gears extremely rough to the point where you're jerked around. No power when trying to accelerate from a stop which is extremely dangerous when cars are behind you or trying to accelerate merging onto the freeway. My truck has been to dealer twice now. The first time it was because my fuel injector went out at 4,500 miles! it doesn't run much better now. When I took it in they just blew me off and said it was normal behavior for the vehicle. Reading all these issues here, Ford really needs to take action! extremely dangerous!!.

53 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2018

This issue is happening widespead amongst owners of Ford's new 3. 5l high output powertrain. Upon open throttle, the engine will instantly drop off all power, causing the truck to dangerously and unexpectedly drop to zero miles per hour. Very dangerous and life threatening while entering roadways or interstate roads with traffic. Upon open throttle, a "low oil pressure" light takes over the viewing area on the dash cluster and then disappears after restarting the vehicle. Upon restarting, the truck will fail and provide a "low oil pressure" signal again after applying open throttle. This can happen when taking off from a dead stop or under cruising speeds, when open throttle is applied, the engine fails and cuts off all power. It doesnt matter if you are turning or going straight, the issue happens regardless. Always happens under open throttle. This has become a widespead issue with owners of the truck from model year 2017-2018. Ford needs to respond and fix this issue for the safety of their customers.
