general problems of the 2019 Ford F-150 - part 1

This vehicle is currently in the shop and the tech is saying we may have to have a transmission replacement. The tech also stated that Ford knows there is a issues with these transmissions and they have not corrected it or made any improvements. Also, Ford will not issue a recall. The vehicle has a very hard shift and is dangerous to drive and it also completely shut down on us, putting our life in danger. We do all the proper maintenance and upkeep on the vehicle at a Ford dealership. This issue is very disappointing as these are "american made" vehicles.

Cam phasers.

This is realted to the 10 speed transmission. The vehicle started to downshift hard. I parked it at home and went to move it and it would not move. I had it towed to my locall Ford dealer where thy told me I needed a complete new transmission totally $9500!!!!.

Transmission and timing chain failure. John vance Ford inspected f150 Jan 26, 2026 and Mar 2, 2026. On Mar 2, 2026 it was determined transmission ($8,740. 85) and timing chain ($4,948. 86) needed to be replaced. I experienced the vehicle slipping into neutral and lunging forward to find a gear while driving. The delay in gears could have easily caused a rearend collision. . . But did not. . . As vehicles behind me had to slow down without notice. John vance confirmed faulty transmission. No warning lights or messages were displayed associated with the failure.

The tailgate latch actuator came open while I was driving home spilling all my tools out into the roadway including extension ladders that were folded down I had a bed cover on so I never seen or heard the tailgate there's no warning there's no lights there's no dinging and then don't come up on the camera or nothing like that I've contacted Ford dealership we have a case and police reports I've got it had a witness with me I'm having it inspected sometime soon I'm contacting the insurance agent now there was no warning labels whatsoever but over $10,000 worth of tools I had car batteries hand tools shovels tool boxes you name it come flying out this is the second time that this has happened but kk first time I caught it heard it I was this the second time I wasn't there was on the highway at night I came back luckily some kids had been cleaning some of it off they had took off most of my tools by then but I caught them they had the extension ladder and some other things thank god cuz it was laying in a blind curve on a highway at night.

Transmission shutter/slipping.

The rear camera goes blank when put in reverse. The screen shows "rear camera not available". There were multiple recalls for rear view camera system but my year and model is not included. A lot of same complaints on the web regarding the same issue.

I was just stopped at a red light and took foot off pedal and the vehicle didn't restart. The instrument cluster showed a warning saying "auto startstop shift to p then restart". This has happened 4-5 times in the past month.

The rear camera view displays the warning "the camera is not available" on the screen. A blurry, distorted flickering image is displayed on the screen. This is the same thing I see with my 2016 Ford fusion, whose camera has been recalled. I'm not sure if this is an intermittent issue or not, but yesterday it was a persistent issue.

The rear backup camera works off and on, as demonstrated by the attached pictures. It has been working in this manner for the past couple of years. It will work properly for long periods of time then go for days in the distorted mannger. The pictures taken were over a one day period. The worst part is that it acts up in the most inappropriate times. There is no specific reason for the camera to not work. No wiring is loose and the system has all appropriate updates. I suspect it falls along the same lines as all of the other recalls foe these cameras. I asked the dealership, which performs all maintenance on my vehicle, to check it out under the recall but they refuse and offer to charge me for repairs, which is why I am filing this notice.

-front, passenger side door will not lock -cannot secure truck -has not been inspected at the dealer yet -security alarm has been activating intermittently with no obvious cause for a couple of weeks prior to this incident.

Rear window seal leaks on multiple different trucks needs to be recalled because most of us can not afford a 900$ back window. I’ve seen many people say the back windows are leaking in the lariats xl and xlts.

Back up camera stops working intermittently.

Back up camera is foggy, can't make out objects, when it rains hard and your backing up camera alert signal goes off even if nothing is there. When rain stops and there are a few dry days of weather the camera is still foggy and unable to make out objects. The service department can examine the camera and easily see the problem. The camera has no clear picture.

Need software update for transmission and sync to 4 or 5 speed sensor.

Rear camera glitch see lines or black screen when reversing.

The display screen (back up camera, clock, audio, etc. ) will at times freeze up, other times be blank, other times show the rear view when in drive. This is affecting my safety as I cannot use the rear view camera in some instances and others the rear view shows up while driving causing confusion. I have not had this looked at yet by a dealer as I believed it was a known issue and a recall was coming, but as of now a lot of other vehicles are being recalled for what appears to be similar issues, but not this vehicle. No warnings.

Rear window Ford part number 1542006 - back window glass has 1" cracks in glass where the glass connects to the body on the left passenger side of the crew cab. Cracks have caused leaks into the cab interior and has caused the modem, mounted behind the rear passenger set on the back wall to stop working as water has infiltrated the electronics. Vehicle was inspected at dealership and their 3rd party glass leak specialists discovered the cracks in the glass connection. I have no idea as to how long this has been going on, estimate a few months as I recently discovered I could not communicate with the vehicle through the Ford connect app and called Ford connect, they identified an issue with the modem and when I pulled back the upholstery to see, there was water dripping inside the vehicle. Unknown if cracks will propagate, however they are leaking when it rains. I will be replacing the glass to prevent further leaks from occurring. I have extended warranty through Ford and "glass" is not covered. Reached out to Ford care and they would not cover. Suggested that I put in a report here so that if later recall or other action, I might be able to get refund for the repair that I am now going to have to pay for to replace the glass and possibly the modem. No other symptoms other than the filaure of the modem that alerted to the issue.

Camera will freeze or not appear at all if switching into reverse right after starting the vehicle.

Transmission has sporadic downshifts when traveling at normal posted speed limits also stalling of engine occurs while doing so. The transmission shifting into gears are very hard (clunky sounds). This has been an issue every since I've owned the truck but happens more frequently within the last 2-3 months.

I am experiencing a serious and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150 lariat equipped with the 10-speed 10r80 automatic transmission. At highway speeds (65–75 mph), the truck will occasionally downshift abruptly into a much lower gear without any input from the driver. This causes the engine rpms to spike and creates a sudden deceleration, which could easily lead to a rear-end collision or loss of control.

Driving highway speed (70mph) and vehicle suddenly drops speed to (25mph) and running at 5000rpm and loses all forward drive speed while pressing on the gas pedal. Pulled over and turned off truck and tried to restart it and it took over 15 seconds for the power start to start the engine after pushing the start button, still had no power to accelerate after placing it in drive. My Ford app sends an alert code reading powertrain malfunction/reduced power. Towed to dealership to get looked at under purchase warranty agreement. This could have caused a major accident if there would have been more traffic on the highway at the time causing major injuries and/or death, this needs to be investigated what is causing this issue. There are a lot of forums on the internet for 2019-2023 f150 having this same issue reporting/regarding “powertrain malfunction/reduced power”, don’t know if anyone else has had it happen while driving at highway speeds or not though haven’t looked through everyone of them.

Last week I traveled from wichita kansas to tulsa oklahoma. On the way back on the highway. The rear wheels locked up and the transmission began revving up but the vehicle was slowing down. The vehicle then revved down and was still slowing down. I pulled over on the shoulder briefly and then drove to gas station less than a mile away. Left vehicle off and got gas. Drove around parking lot and vehicle seemed fine. We did make it home without any other issues. I saw where your agency is looking into this problem for 2015-2017. It seems to be affecting the 2019 as well.

Transmission is slipping. Into 3/4 & 7/8.

Rear view camera used to glitch when put in reverse. Now it goes completely black (or blue) when vehicle is in reverse. There was a recall on this involving 2021 and newer models but I believe this problem goes back even further. Because it’s a truck, I have a huge blind spot in the back when reversing and I worry mostly about a potential accident involving property, persons, or even my own children. It’s very unsafe. I want to note that I was in contact with Ford customer service but they said that my vehicle wasn’t covered under the recall and that there was nothing they can do for me.

Transmission with no prior issues started to delay shift and have a hard time shifting through gears then would skip gears and get stuck in gears cause the truck to harshly stall and jerk, front collision warning randomly coming on just going down the road.

My transmission has been in the shop at Ford four times. It’s clunking between gears. They can’t seem to fix the issue.

A year ago we took our truck in because it was knocking, we were told it was dry starting and they had to repair it, it was 5200. A couple weeks ago we’re driving and it started shifting funny and jerking, had no get up and go, we limped to the nearest dealership. Told our transmission went out and it will cost 11k.

Since 2021 my rear view camera has been intermittently working. It is sept of 2019 build. It seems it was just before the recalls for 20c19/20v575. The dealer has offered to charge me to look at it but it falls extremely close to the recalls for the other cameras.

Transmission randomly shifts into 1st when going 55mph and then slams back into 9th gear after engine revs to redline. Has happened 4 times the past couple months.

The backup camera on my f150 starting glitching and would not display a clear picture of what was behind the vehicle. Below is what was on the invoice: c/s vehicle's backup camera inop. The screen is blank when in reverse. Check and advise 24e12 powertrain control module pcm reprogramming 2 new wiring harnesses and the control reprogramming came to about $1200. In my opinion, failure of a backup camera is a safety critical item. Failure such as this is no different than a sensor going bad- actually worse as visibility is non-existent.

The vehicle developed a grinding noise in the engine soon after I lost all power and brakes while leaving my driveway I thought I was going to crash into my neighbors fence. I had zero braking function out of no where ans no check engine light, it came back after about 30 seconds being off. Then as I was driving down the road I lost all power and I could not accelerate or anything in the middle of the road again no check engine light came on it was just an instantaneous power loss took about 45 seconds to re-engage. I've lost power on the freeway while driving as well.

Having major issues with the auto stop control, it has turned the truck off while sitting in the middle of an intersection, has stalled my truck multiple times in busy areas of on coming traffic, has shortened my battery life and my starter, and it has shown different warning icons. The power train is also acting up by hard shifting, not wanting to switch gears, skipping gears, and also making it difficult to pin point problem. My rear left brake functions are causing an issue as well, some function is making my brakes either stick or something because I get a burning odor constantly coming from my rear wheel even after changing my brakes and rotors.

When I bought the vehicle in 2019 the backup camera stayed on as I was driving down the road. I had to have the computer reset twice. While stopped at a light I had my foot on the break and the vehicle rolled forward and didn't stop me from rear ending the person in front of me at the light. The warning beeped but it didn't brake. Recently I was driving on the highways and my navigation showed that I was driving in a totally different place. Now I had my battery replaced because the auto start and stop wasn't working. When stopping at a red light the vehicle wouldn't start without me putting it in park and restarting it. I have to turn off my auto start stop feature because I'm afraid my vehicle won't start on its own.

I never got contacted about any recall on my vehicle from dealership.
