While recall was put out and repaired im currently experiancing the same issue where the trucks shifting does not work properly, slams gears, causing a jolt and seems the transmission to slip.
I’ve been experiencing harsh shifts between 1st and 3rd. Slip shifts and delayed engagement between 5th and 8th gears. Recently I just experienced no engagement at all while accelerating from red light loss of complete power and slippage. Truck just stopped accelerating which could cause an accident. I got no warning. This is not a new problem. It’s an ongoing issue that needs to be rectified before serious injuries. 10r80 transmission. Cdf drum bushing failure and outer casing putting metal shavings in unit causing valve body damage.
Around curves truck will down shift too many gears. The problem was when it did it recently with the icey roads the tires locked up for a second and I got sideways. I got it straight but if a car was coming I would crashed. My speed was around 50 but I let off the gas to slow down for the curver never applied brakes yet. It does it usually when slowing down its done it since ive owned it and its never bothered me too much until this recent instance. No warning lights, only recall is back up camera I dont have issues with. Ive complained to many Ford dealers and my year dose not qualify, if I want to get it fixed I need to buy new transmission.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions, while the vehicle was stopped, the transmission became stuck in fourth gear and the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal was depressed to the floor for the vehicle to respond. The vehicle gradually accelerated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,500.
When driving home from work at night on the highway in a 55mph zone my truck lost all power and the ability to accelerate. While on the highway began to hit the gas a bit more and saw the gears go from gear 10 all the way down to 1st gear at 55mph. Not sure what was happening and the truck began to “gear hunt” (attempting to find a gear that would give power). The truck gave me a check engine light and a alert of reduced power. I started to smell a burning smell in the vehicle and someone behind me was flashing me with their high beams to attempt to alert me something was wrong. I rolled the window down and looked in my mirror and saw white bellowing smoke being produced from behind the vehicle causing other drivers to either change lanes or slow down so they can see. I used what speed I had left from going down a on ramp to pull into a parking spot behind a building on the main road and had to call for a tow truck very late at night after my shift. I had the vehicle towed to that into the service department of a certified Ford dealership. After a few days of waiting for a response on the diagnosis of the vehicle, they stated that the transmission had blown and needed a replacement.
2019 F-150 2. 7l ecoboost, 10-speed. Intermittent unintended acceleration: while coasting or braking at low speed (10–25 mph) the engine suddenly revs to 3–4k rpm with a strong lurch forward against the brakes. Requires hard braking and shifting to neutral to stop. Happens year-round, warm or cold, no warning lights. This is a known issue covered by TSB 19-2135 and ssm 49240 this problem started in 2020 at about 10k mileage. Has occurred about 10 times since with about 82k mileage now. The service dealer at acton Ford tried to reproduce the problem a couple years ago by driving it, but acceleration problem didn’t happen. The problem occurred today, Dec 6, 2025 while braking for a stop light when I had to stomp on the brakes and shifted into park. This could be dangerous if I pulled through the red light into cross-traffic.
Transmission shifts hard and accelerates unexpectedly. Acceleration is not smooth as expected.
On [xxx] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [xxx] just north of twin falls idaho I had cruise control set to 81 mph when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a Ford dealer and it was the cdf drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. I own a 2019 Ford F-150 with only 94,000 miles on it—barely approaching 100,000—and I’m already experiencing significant transmission issues. The vehicle is equipped with the 10r80 transmission, and the way it shifts gears is extremely concerning. It’s unreasonable for such a critical component to show this level of failure so early. At this rate, it feels as though I’d need to replace the transmission every 94,000 miles, which is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about long-term reliability.
After a stop sign, I turned right onto a busy street. With foot on the accelerator, vehicle would not accelerate, and I had to quickly turn off into the right of way to avoid a collision. Fortunately there wasn’t a curb there. The vehicle was in “d”. I believe the transmission is faulty. It has happened multiple times. Also, the vehicle occasionally will not go into park, more evidence of a faulty transmission. I believe Ford should recall and replace the transmission before it causes a serious accident.
I am experiencing a serious and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150 lariat equipped with the 10-speed 10r80 automatic transmission. At highway speeds (65–75 mph), the truck will occasionally downshift abruptly into a much lower gear without any input from the driver. This causes the engine rpms to spike and creates a sudden deceleration, which could easily lead to a rear-end collision or loss of control.
Vehicle fails to accelerate and change gears (1-3); and vehicle fails to accelerate. While driving at a cruising speed and trying to pass vehicle will not change gears (8-10). Jerks and shutters while trying to accelerate. Was told that the transmission is bad and would cost $8,000 minimum to repair.
Transmission failure, unhealthy engine burning/consuming oil, emissions system/catalytic converter failure all before 100,000 miles.
Intermittent hard, delayed shifting, and a high-speed stumble. Sometimes coming out of 3d under a moderate acceleration, it feels like someone stabs and releases the brakes hard enough to lock the seat belt retractor.
Vehicle will downshift from 10th gear to 1st gear at highway speeds. Vehicle lunges forward after stoplight restarts. 3rd to 4th and 9th to 10th gear shifts are extremely delayed and transmission slips during shifts. Transmission makes very loud noises and clunks when driven. Transmission lags and delays when going into reverse.
When driving on the highway going any speed. The car feels like it goes into neutral and the rpm goes up while I’m going to the speed limit but the car just cruises and it won’t pick up speed. Then it feels like it communicates again and it starts to work.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the transmission upshifted from first gear to fifth gear unexpectedly. The transmission was slamming into gear while driving at slow and high speeds. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle stopped. There was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The check owner’s manual message was displayed. There was no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was associated with NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
While driving the driving the truck slammed from fourth gear into first extreamly hard.
Component in question is the transmission "10r80". Risk is that truck stops or loses speed in the middle of driving. It is especially dangers when going thru a 4 way stop and truck almost comes to a stop because it has no speed and have encounterd close calls to be hit or t boned by other vehicles. Problem has been on ongoing dispute with consumers and Ford about the extreme problems with the transmission that include harsh shifting, jerking, hesitation, constant sudden downshifts, difficulty shifting gears, and even an occasional loss of power while in motion. Other descriptions that I experience is noticeable lurches during gear changes *I recently purchased this vehicle and I was fully unaware of it problems nor was it mentioned to me by the used car salesman and manager that they had a truck in their lot with extreme transmission problems. First purchased ([xxx]) there was no warning signs but maybe after a month or so is when the truck showed a "wrench" symbol on the dash as to show that there is a problem. But somehow it resets everytime you turn off truck and restart as if showing no problem exists. I have learned to deal with it since than but now it is just getting worse. *I have not taken it to the dealership because I am not ready to pay for a problem that (I am now fully aware) Ford has known about this problem and has not taken the safety precautions or remedies for consumers that own their product to get this fixed before a serious/deadly incident occurs you please investigate this extreme known problem because at times I fear for myself, my family and even the driving community for their safety because of what my truck may do or not do while I am driving this unsafe vehicle in our public roadways/highways. The transmission on this vehicle regularly hesitates, lurches and shifts gears unexpectedly. I have had multiple incidents of not being able to accelerate without a delay while in traffic and once the transmission downshifted incorrectly on the freeway which nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle. The unexpected lack of acceleration while in live traffic and the erratic gear shifting on the highway is a safety hazard for me and for other drivers on the road.
I have had numerous issues with the transmission on this truck. The truck has been to dealerships ever since I bought it for transmission issues. New issue occurred this week while going 75mph and continually as I decreased speed down to 60mph. While driving at the high rate of speed the transmission would go from gear 10 straight to 1, causing the rpms to spike and redline once. This occurred 5 times during my drive within about 15 minutes until I was able to stop and leave the truck. No leaks of any transmission fluid was found and truck has had all of its annual inspections and work done according to Ford maintenance timelines and all work on truck has been done at Ford dealerships. I have complained to many dealerships about my transmission. One of the times the gear shifted to from 10 to 1 for a few seconds and then straight back to 10 after the rpms spiking was recorded on video.
The car lost all power and the ability to accelerate for more than 10 seconds. Luckily cars coming form across moved to the side to not hit me. I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. I attempted to shift manually in a panic and the car slammed really hard in likely 1st gear, red-lineed for several seconds then inched forward enough to pull to the side. I was able to proceed forward stuck in 7th gear, where the car remained stuck in that gear. This was terrifying as I had zero ability to move forward, the engine was revving but no gears were available.
Approximately 2 weeks after purchasing the truck I noticed some harsh shifting, jerking, and sudden acceleration, and hesitation issues. They were intermittent and I was advised this is not uncommon with this model vehicle. However, these issues have become more frequent and severe. Next, I noticed the gears began slipping and the truck seemed to not be able to “find” the gear it needed to be in. The transmission would slam into gear or begin slipping under acceleration. There is no rhyme or reason to it, I have not been able to pinpoint it to a specific gear or up/down shift. It simply loses power and neither the gas nor brake work. It will coast until the wrench (check engine?) symbol comes on and then the gas will function. This week the transmission has started intermittently locking into a specific gear without the ability to shift. It’s now happened 3 times. You cannot reverse or drive, the transmission puts itself in park while the dash still indicates its in drive or reverse. After parking the truck for a couple of hours, I could start and drive as usual. Most importantly, twice Saturday the truck seemed to shift out of gear, so hard my head hit the steering wheel, and lost power going 70mph on i64. I have attempted to video these events to help diagnose the issues, but obviously driving and recording are dangerous and difficult.
Truck hesitates, wants to shut of and does shut off. Wrench indicator comes off and on. Truck shuts off at stop light and needs to be restarted.
An intermenttent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module resulting in a unattended downshift into first gear when accelerating.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while in park, the vehicle accelerated. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle accelerated without application. The driver was unable to control the vehicle. The engine warning and power train warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated the failure was related to the transmission. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Powertrain malfunction failed, notification on my vehicle appeared on 4/28/23, although I had been notifying dealer for 3 months prior the safety issue I was experiencing, and nearly got killed on a major interstate, on 4/26/23 my truck stalled as foot pedal would not work. Major safety of semi-trucks and other vehicles on main i30 interstate were trying to avoid hitting me due to my vehicle abruptly downshifts from 10- to 1st gear. Foot pedal inoperable during that time. Yes, the dealer and Ford on 4/28/23 provided me a rental vehicle after my near collision experience until they figure out what to do, replace transmission or rebuild, unresolved. No the vehicle had no warnings, but did have symptons, which I took to dealer and they ran a diagnostic, and found nothing, they said there are tsbs out there with the downshifting issues, and stalling, jerking of transmission. But they said just wait it out initially, and I had to call Ford corporate relations and raise the roof, after I nearly got killed by semi trucks from being stuck in a major interstate highway. December 2022 when it began, the dealer kept doing a reset, which seemed to make it worse, then when I told them how unsafe it was they ignored me, until April 26th when I left a voice mail after nearly being killed. I demanded service as I have a warranty and they ignored the symptoms for so long. Multiple people could have been killed on the interstate when my truck stalled, I had to try and coast to the side of interstate as the truck foot pedal did not work after downshifting from 8 to 1.
Driving back from, san antonio, TX. , to millsap, TX. , in my 2019 Ford F-150 truck, I experienced down shifting and up shifting hard. It was making driving very difficult and dangerous. My Ford app alerted me that there was a powertrain malfunction. The little wrench light came on the dash indicating powertrain problems. I was very concerned for my safety. I have turned it into, southwest Ford, in, hudson oaks, texas. I was not told that this was an issue with this year model, nor have I received anything in the mail about it. The Ford dealership above was where I bought the truck and all the oil changes, ect. , have been done. I have researched this problem and have come across a class action lawsuit that describes what happened with my truck. Ford has not notified me to this problem. What else should I do to resolve this?.
The transmission started shifting down and up uncontrollably while traveling down the highway at 75 mph. It would bounce between 9 and 10 gear and then down to 5 and 6, all within seconds. Was not towing anything, and it’s not the first time it’s happened. A wrench icon appeared, saying “see manual”. Transmission temp showed 240 degrees. Within 5 minutes we’d pulled over and turned vehicle off. As we were slowing down exiting freeway, gear shifting was extremely pronounced.
10r180 dropping from 10th gear to 5th gear when cruise is set and accelerator is pressed truck will set advanced traction control warning off and slam so hard into 5th gear you are destructed looking to see if you were in a accident. . I have videos that were provided to Ford motor company and have had in 2 Ford dealership s 3 times for repairs. Ford motor company has 2 engineer cases opened on truck the second case they told dealership it was my fault with the abrupt shifting slamming and traction control warning at 72 mph on interstate. Ford refuses to address the safety issue. It is a hazard to me and passengers in my vehicle as well as the motoring public. Ford motor company has been notified they can assume liability if I am in a accident and someone is injured due to their negligence or refusal to fix defect. Truck has had issues since around 3500 on the odometer it now has 16,567 miles currently. This as well as any other erratic shifting complaints with said 10r180 should be fully investigated and taken seriously because it will and I am sure has contributed to crashes!!!!.
This happened twice today 10/24/2020. First time I was stopped at a turning light on a main road and as soon as I let off the break the engine shutoff. Second time I was in a residential neighborhood making a turn and the engine shutoff once again displaying the image attached.
I leased a new 2019 Ford f150 XLT sport package in the fall of 2019. During the first year, I experienced some "choking" of the engine when I would accelerate. Nothing big, but noticeable. I mentioned this experience to the dealer at regular checkups and they informed me that it was "normal" and that if anything was wrong, the computerized monitoring system on the truck would identify the problem. I bought the truck after a 36 month lease. The choking continued to be a regular occurance, especially for the first few miles of a new drive. Around 30k miles, I noticed the issue getting more pronounced. I again asked the dealer about it and they provided me the same answer as before and didn't offer to explore the issue. Between 30k and 50k miles, the issue became more frequent and would impact the truck whether it was warm or cold. But now I experienced a hard shift between 1-3 gears and sometime 3-5-- jerking and slowing and struggling to move to the next gear. It will also bog down at times when changing into the higher gears with no telling when this would occur. Again, I asked the dealer about it, and becuase there was no safety light, they wouldn't do a thing. Over the past month or two, at over 50k miles, the frequency was several times on every drive. It started to jump from 8-1 and back up to 8. It would jerk and slow in high traffic situations, and finally it just would not move into gear at a stop sign at rush hour. I had to drop it into low gears and move to the side of the road after 10 minutes of stoppage; then the check engine indicator finally flashed, after an incident that could have caused harm to me or others. I slowly drove it to my destination. Since then, I have not allowed anyone to drive the truck because it is dangerous to operate. I took the truck to the dealer and they informed me that it needs a new transmission which will be ~$5k.
On 3/6/2020 I was in a serious car accident in the vehicle. Which required surgeries for not only myself but also other drivers on the road. The driver air bags did not deploy, the turck was totaled and had body damage around the entire vehicle. There was a blood stain from my head hitting the driver door window but no air bag deployment. The gas pedal was not attached when reviewing the photos taken. The collision detection did not detect. We have asked Ford motor company to come and look at the car as it has been in a protective hold but the response from fmc was that due to covid they would not send anyone and we were left on out own. There were no warning messages, lamps, lights or indicators prior to the collision.
The vehicle hesitates while speeding up. This hesitation is dangerous in situations like entering and exiting the highway from an off-ramp, where acceleration is necessary to merge with traffic. The vehicle hesitation to accelerate is unpredictable. I tired several times to upload documentaion as jpeg files. Each time I get failed to upload message.
My truck's gas pedal does not always accelerate the truck. By playing lightly with the accelerator I can usually keep the truck accelerating. If I press the accelerator to the floorboard, the truck just stops, so I never do that. Maybe 3 times in 4 years. Several times I have been on a freeway and my truck comes to a complete stop. Very scary! my truck has had this behavior since I first bought it. Planet Ford told me repeatedly that it was due to the way I drove. Called Ford and they were no help. I finally gave up.
