My truck down shifted from seventh gear all the way down to first, making rev really high and slow down all the sudden. I was doing 50 mph.
Back up camera is defective. Known issue of poor solder joints. Camera is now inoperable. Began as an occasional disconnect. Then camera works. Ford claims no issues however it’s know to be a problem on this series within owners group.
Front passenger door lock will not function. The lock does not lock or unlock with the key fob or the interior door lock controls.
Extremely loud electrical pop followed by loud static.
I am receiving alerts on my Ford app stating that it is a parking aid alert because of electrical isse within the vehicle. Also states to service engine soon alert because of electrical issue has been detected with your vehicle. This may cause the engine start/stop feature (if equipped) to not work. Checking on this I found 0 on the NHTSA website for recalls. With further checking I was informed that this should be a recall to be done. Please let me know if I can get this repaired under the recall. I also notice when starting my vehicle in the mornings that it smokes out of both tailpipes and lasts approximately one to two minutes. I have 2 problems with my vehicle that have been going on for a while now. First there is an existing recall for 2020 Ford f150's nhta 25v442 Ford 25s72. Pertaining to the sync 3 malfunctioning as Ford put it "Ford says that an error in the sync infotainment system could cause a blank image to be displayed while reversing, or the rear-view image may remain on display even after a driver has stopped reversing. " my vehicle is and has been doing this for a very long time. However, my vehicle VIN is not included in the recall. Though it should be since it is the exact same problem. The other safety issue I have is the front facing camera. It has completely stopped working quite some time ago. I asked Ford about it, and they told me they would have to charge me to look into it. I don't have the money to throw at problems that should be fixed under recall because they are safety issues. This camera not working shuts down the pre collision assist which is very dangerous. It also controls the auto hi and lo beam for seeing at night, and last but not least the cruise control doesn't work without it.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon attempting to unlock the doors of the vehicle with the key fob, only the front driver's side door unlocked. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to manually unlock the tailgate, the tailgate failed to unlock as intended. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the failure could be related to an unknown actuator recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
The power running boards are malfunctioning continuously, I have fallen out of the driver side twice and now have injury to my right shoulder trying to stop myself using the arm rest. They will either not come out or will retract while trying to step up or will not come out at all, making it extremely difficult to get into the truck without them deployed. Also, will start to deploy and stop mid-way. I will attach a photo taken today.
Tailgate came open events, while no one in the truck previous recall fix did not work as google is stating the original recall fix did not work.
When clicking lock and unlock on the key fob or door panel, all doors lock and unlock except the driver door. It does not move no matter what you do. Replaced the fuse and that did nothing. This truck is approx 5 years old and should not have electrical failing like this.
Got into my truck as normal and closed the driver side door, only to find the notification on the dash that the driver side door was still ajar. While driving, the alert just keeps sounding off and the dome lights will not go off. It appears that the door latch sensor is faulty, or at least that seems to be the consensus from the dealership. But I've also read that it could potentially be the wiring harness. Safety is at risk because this creates many distractions while trying to drive. The lights stay on, there is constant alerts going off on the dash, and notifications pop up every time I stop or slow down, and I have to manually set my dash back to the odometer so I can see how fast I'm going. 3 separate distractions all from 1 issue. The dealership just wants to replace the door latch because the sensor is built in. But they state it is a common occurrence, and there are plenty of instances just like this online. I am taking my truck to the dealership tomorrow to have them look and potentially replace the door latch because I can't handle the constant alerts while driving. There was no prior indicators to this issue. I drove my truck to work just fine, parked it, and went to get in it at lunch and then the problems began. Out of nowhere.
My gears shift hard when slowing down or when letting go of the gas pedal. The infotainment center blacks out. I took it in to Ford dealership and was told the transmission needed to be replaced. I don’t drive fast nor abuse my truck. I don’t use my truck for construction; I simply drive to work and home. I have 67k miles and bought the truck in 2020, brand new. It’s very concerning that at 67k the transmission needs replacement. The cost for replacing the transmission is $8,000. 00 dollars.
Dash screen went blank while driving engine has a sound like lifters rattling vehicle lost all electrical connectivity and then it finally came back on no other instances.
The rear view camera turned black, sometimes purple, the image is distorted. I googled it and it says 700,000 f150's were recalled for this problem but when I called the Ford where I live they said it didn't have a recall.
The driver door doesn’t lock or unlock unless opened from the inside. The actuator is more than likely the issue but Ford dealership told me it was $185 to diagnose then the total would be around $500 if the actuator is the issue. My truck only has 50,000 miles on it and I can’t get in it without crawling over the seat to open the door.
Cruise control was set at approx. 62 mph driving on the interstate. An exit was taken and coming down the off ramp the truck would not slow down. It seems the brakes did not disconnect the cruise control. Brakes were both pumped and firmly depressed. No response when the gear shift was placed in a lower gear. The electronic system did not shut off after the ignition was placed in the off position. An inspection is warranted, expected and welcome. This was a sudden unintentional acceleration (sua) incident/accident!!! numerous other vehicles were placed in danger while crossing a major intersection. Two fire trucks responding to an emergency were passed at 50 miles an hour. Many other occupied vehicles and individuals at an apartment complex were in danger of being killed or injured. As of right now the vehicle has not been inspected by the insurance claims adjuster, so right now it has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center (but is welcomed to be done). The vehicle or components have not yet be inspected by the manufacture, police or insurance representative (but I would be willing to allow it). There was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. It was totally unexpected and a complete surprise.
The contact owned a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that his employees had driven the vehicle to a work site. While at the work site, the vehicle caught fire while the engine was off. An employee stated that flames appeared to have come from the vehicle's dashboard. An attempt was made to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher; however, the flames quickly engulfed the vehicle. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed as result of the fire. One of the contact's employees suffered first and second degree burns to their face. The employee was taken to a hospital where they were treated for their injury. A police report was not filed. The decal from a storage unit was melted, a blinker cover on an RV was destroyed, and several nearby trees were damaged. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be inspected; the cause of the fire remained unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I have a problem with the door sensor, when temperature drops below 60 the system shows the door is open and doesn't let me lock any door even after driving, keeping the lights inside and outside the vehicle to stay on, this lead in few times to the alarm goes off during the night, the problem is that I have 2 kids they always use their seat belts but my little one sometimes put the hand on the door handle so to prevent any accidents I have to use to lock mechanism so the door can only be open from outside, but this is frustrating because I have to disconnect the battery in order to preserve power , seems this is not an isolated incident many people have the same issue.
I have an actuated door lock on the drivers door for electronic locks. It recently started buzzing and not locking when I lock the doors, all of the other locks work fine. This lock buzzes whether I push the button inside the truck, push the lock button on the fob and also when driving about 5 miles per hour. Again, all of the other locks work as they are supposed to. I looked and asked my dealer about a recall on this issue and there is not one. I have a CO-worker who had a similar problem with his Ford truck that is a few years older and he received a letter from Ford extending his warranty so the part would be replaced at no cost to him. I am requesting the same thing as mine 2020 Ford has the problem currently and even though I can lock it manually when I use the keypad to unlock the doors it does not work either and I feel this is a safety issue and would like it corrected. I have attached a copy of the letter my CO-worker received with the program number included for repair. The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after parking on an incline with the engine running, the contact exited the vehicle and moments later the vehicle reversed and crossed a busy road before driving into ditch. The contact stated that during the failure the vehicle nearly collided with a second vehicle while crossing the road. Prior to the failure, the vehicle experienced electrical failures causing the check engine, abs, hill descent and traction control warning lights to intermittently flash on and off. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 159,283.
Driver's door won't lock anymore. If you push the botton down to lock your truck and try to unlock with keyfob; the panic system goes off. No accidents on this truck. Just stopped working. When you accelerate and all of your locks are supposed to lock and the driver's side just makes a noise and does not lock. This is a safety issue.
Back up camera does not display item location for contact area. Related to apim malfunction. Gps and radio controls also not working due to bad apim.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle unintendedly stalled but was able to be restarted after approximately 13 minutes. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The apim failed when the vehicle had less than 25,000 miles on it. It was paid for by an extended vehicle warranty, instead of being paid by Ford for bad equipment. It is now back in the shop and they want to charge almost $400 to provide a software update to the equipment that was just replaced. I had the same issue on a 2020 Lincoln aviator. Apim had to be replaced, my extended warranty was used to replace it, and now it needs an update to work properly. Please require dealerships to enter these issues, not vehicle owners.
1 year ago I started getting the “charge system fault” alert on my truck, took to the shop and they advised the battery needed to be replaced. After replacing, a few weeks later it started happening again, so they did further testing and advised the alternator was bad. Replaced the alternator and 6 months later the alert started intermittently again. It has been sporadically ever since when at an idle and doesn’t stay on long enough to have on a reader to reflect what is really wrong. I’ve attached the error from my Fordpass app that comes thru once in a while but it’s frequent on the truck dash while it’s running, at idle whether in park or at a stop light. It’s not every time the truck is running, but becoming more frequent again.
On [xxx] I took the truck to Ford dealer after noticing the front floor passenger side carpet was wet and door locks and electronic tire pressure indicator failed to operate correctly. Ford service dept found a/c drain was letting water back into passenger compartment and caused body control module (bcm) failure. Bcm was replaced after 2 1/2 months in the service dept. Returned on 8/26/24, 9/18/24, and 10/22/24 for same water intrusion problem. Different repair done on 10/22/24 to remedy problem. Service dept contacted Ford national office and learned this was considered a design flaw by Ford. Expected a recall will be issued. Remedial treatment for mold was applied because I had been smelling a vinegar smell in the truck cab which is typical smell for presence of mold. This is the primary safety issue I believe exists, but failure of body control module could cause other safety problems. . No recall issued yet.
While driving in the rain, my vehicle had a complete electrical failure. I could not accelerate or even turn the vehicle off. Because of this I could not move my vehicle off the highway. Fortunately I was not hit by the vehicle behind me, and was not in a turn. He several warning lights came on. After being towed to a dealership, it was found that the factory windshield was leaking into the passenger side area where the body control module (bcm) is housed. This flooded the unit and completely killed the truck. It was surprising to me that rain had the ability to completely render my truck useless. The manufacturer would not cover any repairs as they claimed windshield leaks were a maintenance issue.
Rear tailgate camera failed.
1. The start/stop function will not restart at some long stop lights. I have to restart the vehicle. 2. The wiper will come on without being turned on. 3. The brake have started to grind like, the brake pads are bad. The brake will grind sometimes when coming to a stop. They have been checked and a recent service also. The brakes do this even during the day. The dealership found the brakes to be working in perfect order. 4. Transmission issues have been resolved to a point. 5. Service department great, however; the can duplicate issues with vehicle.
My back window randomly shattered when it wasn’t being driving. I assumed a rock was flung up from the road from another vehicle, causing it to shatter, but when I took it to get it replaced, the glass technician pointed out that the defroster heater wire overheated, causing the glass to shatter. Reports online show this has happened before. My tech said it could have caught the truck on file. I tried to upload photos of the shattered window and the burnt electrical wire, but the website wouldn’t let me.
Passenger front door lock failed and we were unable to access passenger during, what was interpreted as a medical emergency. The only way to access passenger was to go through the rear passenger door.
Park brake limited function. Service required. Says my brake light is on. Drains my battery. Is this the same recall for 2021 & 2022??.
The plastic housing for the rear tail light cracked without any accident or stress and water intrusion occurred resulting in a blown sensor module that in turn caused massive issues with how the truck ran. Electrical components would not function including safety features like airbags and windows.
Reporting this same incident type again. My truck continues to sporadically shutoff while operating the vehicle. My truck has shutoff while driving twice in the past 2 months. Under normal driving conditions I can be driving and suddenly the engine will shutoff and I lose all power and power steering. The latest episode I was turning right with traffic approaching behind with my kids in the truck as well. The error on the dash is the same every time “auto startstop manual restart required”. I have to come to a complete stop and put the truck in park to be able to restart. Having to stop on a very busy road to restart is a major safety issue and I believe this truck will end up hurting myself or others. I have had the truck into Ford more than once and they claim there is no problem even though I show pictures and video. I contacted Ford directly again and they really don’t seem to care very much, from what I can tell they refuse to acknowledge I have a problem with the truck. Please help me.
Most everytime I start the vehicle, I get asked to confirm settings for the sync system. I have attached pictures of what the screen says. Sometimes the rear camera works but other times it does not work. Sometimes the system will prompt me while I am driving making the sync navigation unable to be seen on the screen. Sometimes I have a black screen for entire drive with no functions like the backup camera or any other function. Sometimes it shows my reverse camera for my entire drive, even if I never put the truck in reverse. Also the radio blasts whatever station it feels like which almost caused me to have an accident. I contacted Ford with no timetable for a fix. Was told that this is happening to a lot of vehicles with sync 3. 4. There's a partition on the onboard computer that's responsible for remembering settings that fills up, then you get this behavior constantly - forgetting camera and preset settings, popping up this message, not remembering the last radio station, etc. This is a very dangerous situation that Ford must have not tested for a bug in the sync system before sending the software update out to be installed in the vehicle. Every time I drive the vehicle, it is dangerous when the sync system malfunctions.
