While driving with sound volume at normal setting (volume 8), speakers started to pop and static erratically, which startled me, almost causing an accident. The issue will randomly go away, no warning lights on screen or dashboard. The static and pop sounds still continued at volume setting one. The erratic static and pop goes away then it happens again 20 min later. My ears are ringing from the popping sounds.
On March 24, 2023, I got inside my 2021 Ford F-150 power boost king ranch truck, turned it on. Heard a loud popping sound. Began to drive away. Then all of a sudden there was a loud static sound. The sound was so loud like someone turned the volume to max limit and I began trying to turn it off. The radio was not responsive. I started to panic because I had all these vehicles around me and could not think correctly. It was affecting my decision making and all I could think of is turning off my phone, pressing the power on + next track button to hard reset radio , etc. Nothing worked. Loud static sound would stop. Radio wouldnt turn off. Next thing you know im on the expressway trying to get off because obviously nothing worked. After around 20 minutes, I finally pulled over. Turned off my truck. Then turned it back on thinking it would have stopped. Nope, sound was still on. Had to get to my destination and when I did. I lost some of my hearing. It was that bad!!.
Speaker issue: when starting the truck, after about 3 seconds of sitting in the truck, the speakers made a really loud pop noise and then continued to make a loud static noise and cracking noise for the duration of my 15 minute drive home. If this happened on the freeway, it may traumatize someone or cause an accident. The problem has happened twice but it is not been replicable for a dealer or service center. The truck has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. I read online that this is happening to a lot of 2021+ F-150s with the b & o unleashed 18 speaker sound package. Please recall this, it is the most dangerous speaker issue I have ever heard.
My radio speakers turned to 100% volume and the subwoofer made an extremely loud static noise. It could not be turned off. My ears rang and thankfully I wasn’t driving fast enough, as I was about to pull into my driveway. Based on the advice of a thread I read online, the best way to fix the issue was to shut the truck off and let the noise eventually turn off… which took ten minutes. Since I could not reproduce the issue, and based on everything I’ve read about this issue, going to the dealer would not be a benefit of my time as they require the issue to be happening to diagnose the issue. I cannot replicate it again, but if this happens while I’m driving much faster, I fear it will cause me to wreck… or lose my hearing. The noise was quite literally deafening. . Read more...
Our truck is equipped with the b&o unleashed sound system. One afternoon, upon starting the truck after completing a brief errand, an extremely loud pop sound occured, followed by terrible static and crackling from every speaker. The noises continued for several minutes, even after noticing the audio system was off and then also turning the truck itself off. The terrible noises simply continued. Although the sound eventually stopped, the truck now regularly makes two or three quieter popping sounds as the driver first approaches the truck; nearly every time. The sounds seem to come from the driver door's speaker. There is also faint crackling on occasion from the headrest speakers.
