New 2022 Ford F-150 vehicle has a "rear brake assist not available" dash warning with accompanting dtcs b1578:78, ipma error, and u023a, lost communication with image processing module a. I should note my check engine light never came on for either of these dtcs - I was given these codes by the dealer when I took vehicle in for service concerning the aforementioned dash warning. After having the vehicle for 10 days in may 2022, the dealer replaced the rear camera (ml3z-19g490-c), control assembly (ml3z-14g647-r), and performed an ipma calibration and a 360° camera calibration. Work order indicates hard fault did not clear and after multiple calibration attempts, it finally completed and everything was okay. However, the rear brake assist not available malfunction is not rectified and is still present. After advising Ford dealer service advisor the problem was not rectified, sa indicated Ford engineering acknowledged it is a problem for which they do not yet have a solution. This is a safety system designed to prevent running over children, animals, and other collisions when driving in reverse with automatic rear braking assistance. If Ford cannot get it to work properly, what is the solution? the system has not worked since I took delivery of the new vehicle on April 15, 2022. Consequently, I have disabled rear brake assist in the driver assistance settings. Other driver assistance and safety features appear to be operating properly.
