Failure Date: 12/18/2025

Automatic parking break engaged while in drive and moving downhill.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2025

Recall 23s35 is not showing up for my vehicle even though I have the exact same issue. Dashboard alarm and message "park brake fault service now" and it activates my brakes. I took it to the dealership while it was still going on, even after I shut the truck off.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

Was stopped behind a car in line in the parking lot. The truck was in drive with the auto hold brake feature enabled. The auto hold disengaged and the car rolled forward rear ending the car in front of me. Collision alert didn't sound as expected. A similar recall came out August 6 for 2025 f150s.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2025

I bought a used Ford F-150 from Toyota used care dealership on [xxx]. On [xxx] while vehicle was being driven on [xxx], north of santa clarita, on the way down to san diego. I was in the backseat, my friend who was the driver notified me. That we had to pull over and check because he was noticing smoke, then we pulled over and the truck was leaking a fluid that was on fire for about 20 minutes. We had exited the vehicle, called 911, the fire then stopped after about 20 minutes. The fire department came and then put out a small fire within the truck. We then had to wait on the side of the rode for 5 hours waiting for a tow truck to pull the truck. I got the truck towed to a Ford service center because the truck still had new vehicle manufacturer warranty with Ford. The truck was given full warranty and Ford covered the damages and fixed the vehicle giving it the green light in there service report. I then waited until March 4th 2025 to receive my truck back. On [xxx], the truck was being driven down southband the [xxx], on the [xxx], again due to smoke and also hearing a loud banging, my friends had to pull over and the truck is going to be towed to the service center which it was first fixed. 5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

2022 Ford F-150. The vehicle displays a warning message that reads, "trailer disconnected" continuously. It comes on as soon as the engine is started and comes back on as quickly as I can press the "ok" button to make it go away. I have taken the truck to the dealer for repairs four times so far and it still comes back. I have paid to have the trailer break control module reprogrammed as well as having a new one installed. The Ford web site lists this as a recall for the '22 F-150 but not for my specific VIN so it would appear the problem is larger than they know. Here is the link to Ford's description of the recall: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2025

When at a signal light with the brake pushed, we are experiencing an issue where the whole vehicle will unexpectedly lurch forward as if hit from behind after coming to a stop. This could possibly result in the truck hitting the vehicle in front of you if you are in tight traffic. Our local dealer inspected but could not find a solution.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

I was driving around 35-40mph, slowing down, heading to a right hand turn lane. No vehicles in front of me. As I crossed over my lane into the turn lane my e-brake automatically came on and my pre collision braking light came on. No warning, nothing caused by me, and I have no clue how it happened. I had to physically pull the e-brake lever to release the brakes on a major road.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2024

Three warnings light antilock brake fault, hill start assist warning, and pre-collision assist not available. Brakes failed. I was fortunate that no one was in front of me but the truck barely stopped. Took full pedal to the floor to force lockup. I am filing the matter as it does appear to be a frequently occurring concern in 2021 and 2022 models based on what I have read to date.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2024

On 14 September, at approximately 11am, I rear ended another vehicle a Honda pilot. I anticipated the vehicle in front of me pulling out into the intersection and took my eyes off that vehicle to look at vehicles approaching from my left. The vehicle in front of me stopped and I hit them moving less than 10 mph. The airbags didn't deploy and the people in both vehicles were fine. However, my 2022 Ford F-150 platinum is equipped with emergency braking and pre-collision safety features. They did not engage and I hit the vehicle. People cannot rely on these systems protecting them.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2024

When starting from a stop, with my 2022 Ford f150 fx4 in drive, sometimes the parking brake will automatically turn on without me activating it while driving. This causes my truck to skid to a halt and I have to manually disengage the parking brake to resume driving. I am concerned about the increased risk for harm to myself or others from a collision due to the unintended stopping. I don't know if the brake lights turn on or not when this happens either, but the vehicle remains in drive and the red park brake active light comes on (lower right corner of the instrument cluster). The local Ford dealership has had the truck in twice for this condition, but they have said they cannot reproduce the problem. I have recorded a video of it happening and sent it to Ford. The recall on my truck having to do with the parking brake that was issued September 2023 has been repaired by the local Ford dealership as of October 2023, but this is still occuring. No advanced warning is given when this occures. It is sudden, and seemingly random, but so far has only occurred when starting from a stop. Other potentially useful information: this has occurred with my vehicle 6 times in the last two weeks with today being the most recent. I have auto hold turned on. I set the parking brake when I am parked in my driveway. I turn right from my driveway in the mornings. Most of the occurrences of this have been on a slope, but one occurrence has occurred on level ground. Ford has not found an answer for my vehicle yet. They did re-inspect the recall work and said nothing was wrong with that part.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2024

Failure: total loss of brakes, hard pedal, no airbags deployed, at estimated speed between 5 and 10 mph. Safety concern: total loss of ability to slow down, stop or avoid impact. Crashed into a shop wall as a dealership technician with the brake lamps evidently applied before and after the impact. Reproduced: vehicle in for abs related faults on dash, which is why it was being pulled into the Ford dealer by a senior master Ford technician. Inspection by others: not yet, vehicle has been left at impact site per management. No, there were no warnings, chimes, messages or any other symptom or sign to indicate a concern was going to happen.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact has engaged the “smith system” to drive the vehicle. On a separate occasion, the vehicle started making a squealing sound. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal once or twice; however, the brakes failed to respond. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with rear brake failure. The rear brake was rebuilt; however, the failure and the squealing persisted. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer two more times, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure or duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,917.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2024

While coasting to an upcoming stop downhill, on slightly graded slope, speed within 15mph or less, with brake slightly applied; the automatic parking brake engaged on its own, subsequently resulting in the transmission shifting of drive modes to park automatically. The vehicle came to an instant, unexpected stop, while still maintaining a speed around 5mph on its own. The vehicle locked up mid-line-of-traffic, leaving the potential of a rear-end collision by following vehicle. No known damage to transmission or powertrain resulted. Adverse weather/road conditions did not play a factor at the time of incident. Incident has occurred multiple times prior, during similar environment & circumstance.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

While driving to work a car crossed over two lanes and pulled in front of me, I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. The truck applied the brakes and that was avoided but at that moment my dash lights came on, no abs, brake light, engine lights, and traction control all lit up. I was near my exit and got off applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Basically no brakes, I was pumping and could hear some type of noise like a hissing or air leak. Because I was going up an incline was able to stop otherwise I would have hit someone. When I stopped could see brake fluid leaking and the truck also made like a pumping noise I believe from the brake system and another hissing sound. Had the truck towed to Ford - they stated a leaking brake line from ebb to the right front caliper. There was no leak until I slammed on the brakes. The truck has 27, 901 miles.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2024

On several occasions I have unintentionally pressed the accelerator pedal in addition to pressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal is 2 inches "higher" (closer to the driver) than the accelerator pedal in its full up position. When attempting to quickly place my foot on top of the brake pedal from the accelerator pedal, my foot hits the side of the brake pedal. This issue has resulted in several near-hit accidents with a vehicle in front of me. The rapid acceleration of the Ford lightning reduces response time to correct the braking disruption. The brake pedal may be placed higher to prevent the driver from also depressing the accelerator when depressing the brake. Other vehicles also have a higher brake pedal, but it feels like an unusually high foot lift is required in the lightning. There is definitely something unusual about the brake and accelerator geometry in my Ford lightning.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floorboard but failed to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. As a result, the contact collided with the rear of two vehicles ahead. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that sometime later, while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, a message displayed reading "full accessory power active," after which the vehicle inadvertently lost all motive power. The contact's wife was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to restart. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

Advancing forward in traffic to a stop sign on a downward slope in tow/haul mode. Stopped at the intersection and began to accelerate into a left hand turn. Initial acceleration was fine and then the rear tires locked up and squealed on the asphalt. Truck came to a stop and when I looked down the screen said the parking brake was on. I never activated the parking brake. Seemed to disengage on its own after a few seconds. Highly dangerous situation.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2023

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at slow speeds and making a left turn, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The vehicle was restarted and worked as designed. The navigation system screen had frozen. While opening the sunroof, the deflector detached. While driving, the brakes was applied without driver input. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the deflector needed to be replaced. The other failures were unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 13,696.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2023

"park brake fault service now" popped up on the dash when I opened the door. . Read more...

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

Unintended acceleration / rolling may occur when vehicle is remote started through Fordpass mobile application. The 1 pedal-drive vehicle setting is not preserved when using remote start. Vehicle may roll down hill upon entry. Default driver profile has 1 pedal drive off while all device profiles linked to Fordpass and phone-as-a-key have 1 pedal drive on. Fordpass mobile app remote start needs to preserve 1 pedal drive setting due to potential unintended acceleration when on flat surfaces or unintended reverse acceleration rolling down hills.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2023

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and released. The contact then depressed the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately, and the transmission failed to shift into neutral (n). The vehicle coasted to the side of the roadway and was able to come to a complete stop. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that they would not be able to duplicate the failure without a check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer advised the contact to drive the vehicle until the check engine warning light illuminates to diagnose the vehicle. The contact stated that the following week, the failure recurred while making a left turn into the gas station. The vehicle experienced unintended acceleration at 42 mph, and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately. The "sudden acceleration, sudden braking" message was displayed. The vehicle crashed into a gas station, injuring the cashier and a customer. One of the injured people received medical attention. The contact did not sustain any injuries, but medical attention was received. No air bags were deployed upon impact. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the police department, where a police investigator accessed the edr. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer. The contact related the failure to a stuck throttle; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and remained at the dealer. Greene Ford company (2365 browns bridge rd. , gainesville, GA 30504) was also made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he was driving with both feet depressing the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time, which the contact stated was incorrect. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2023

Brakes completely failed without warning or any indication that something was wrong. Lost brakes completely, and dash lit up saying abs fault, service advanced traction, hill start assist unavailable, pre collison assist not available. Luckily I was able to slow down by downshifting in m and throwing it into park before it even came to a stop. Had it towed to dealer and repaired. Dealer failed to give me documentation of what was replaced and/or repaired. Luckily I just exited the highway. I could have been seriously hurt or killed. As well as someone else could obviously had been killed or hurt. I live in colorado and 75% of my driving is down steep mountain grades. This could have ended catastrophically.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2022

Brakes squeal and screech horribly, at first only when the pickup was moving in reverse but now it’s when coming to a stop. It’s so loud it echos in parking lots and causes people to stop and look to see where the noise is coming from. It’s a constant problem that weather conditions do not affect. Had the vehicle in for service numerous times and Ford refuses to fix it or acknowledge there is a problem. Escalated it to Ford corporate and they also refused to do anything about it. At first I was told to wash the wheels “extra good” and it would be just fine and on the last service attempt I was told that the “brake pads just have so much metal in them by design these noises are 100% normal” but now the pickup seems to be losing stopping power and takes longer to stop than it normally did. Per Ford the brake pads are all 9mm and 10mm and “perfectly fine” but the pickup just does not feel safe. I feel there is definitely defects in the braking system including but not limited to brake pads. And complaints are numerous in the forums and online about the same issues with the F-150 line.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2022

Multiple warning lights came on while going 55mph down a straight road. Warning lights consisted of antilock break system fault, pre-collision assist not available, and hill start assist warning. I did not have and breaks at all.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2022

When applying brakes, the response time in incredibly slow. Sometimes when the brake is applied half way down, the truck tends to skid on the road.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

The truck show a warning when on reverse, the rear brake assiste does not work since I bought the truck and dealer has no fix to it.
