Service Brakes problem #1

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his wife was in the process of parking the vehicle on the side of the street, the driver released the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended, jolted forward, and hit one unoccupied and parked vehicle, and hit another occupied vehicle stopped at the stop light. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained nerve pain, causing the fingers to become numb, and the driver sustained headaches, back, hips, and shoulder pain. It was unknown whether the other driver sustained injuries. The contact's wife drove to an emergency room after the collision and received medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an auto collision repair shop, where it was serviced for the collision damage. An independent mechanic had diagnosed the vehicle with a one-pedal driving system and abs failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the insurance company for assistance. The failure mileage was 13,290.

Service Brakes problem #2

As I went to reverse to pull out of a parking area, the truck accelerated, I applied the brakes and the truck continued going dragging the front tires at one point. I decided at the last min to attempt to put the truck in neutral or park and at that time it was stopped between two trees. This could of been very bad if my kids were in the yard playing or many other scenarios. The 2024 f150 is still at the dealership waiting on approval to do body work. We have requested they run diagnostics or telemetry on the trucks systems to verify the problem but after a month that has not been done yet.

Service Brakes problem #3

Was driving with my son when pulling up in my driveway I had my foot on the brake when all of a sudden the brakes went to the floor and my truck began to continue slowly up the driveway would not stop and drove into my garage door and damaging my garage door had called Ford roadside assistance took it to the shop and they had to replace the brake booster.

Service Brakes problem #4

White smoke coming out of rear wheels when driving 80mph. Engine kicks at the same time reducing the speed. Strong smell of brakes at the rear wheels when pulled over. Likely the brakes are engaged at that speed.

Service Brakes problem #5

I’ve now had two major safety issues with my 2024 Ford F-150 stx. 1. September 2025 – loss of acceleration while driving I was driving north at about 40 mph when my truck suddenly stopped accelerating. It felt like it went into neutral on its own. I pressed the gas and nothing happened — the truck just started coasting. There were no alerts, no warning lights, and no explanation. I had to safely pull off the road while the truck was basically free-rolling. 2. Most recent incident – emergency brakes slamming on in an empty parking lot when I was leaving a facility recently, I was driving slowly through an empty walgreens parking lot — no cars or obstacles anywhere around me. Out of nowhere, the truck’s emergency brakes slammed on extremely hard. It didn’t just happen once — the brakes locked up five times within about a minute while I was in drive. There were zero warning messages on the dash each time. The jolts were so violent that my son flew forward and hit the seat in front of him. My right leg slammed into the dash, and the impact was so strong I ended up in the er afterward with severe pain on my right side.

Service Brakes problem #6

Hi there, I wanted to report a situation with my Ford f150 lightning I brought this monster truck last December'24 and everything worked until today when I hit a issue with the break me and my wife went to costco for weekend shopping, I was trying to park to a very comfortable parking position; after getting in, I reversed the car to make it align with the parking line. Right after that I changed the position to drive slowly role it forward to adjust my parking, the truck started accelerating forward. I pressed the break hard and hard it would not stop. Imagine its costco, lot of people around me, luckily it was trees and mulch area infront, and imagine its costco, lot of people around me, luckily it was trees and mulch area infront, and there was a traffic board. The truck hit the traffic pole and stopped hanging over the mulch area. Everyone around me was screaming and looking at me. Through traffic stopped and took diversion, I pulled back slowly, guess what, the car would not come back to the parking lot again. I press the reverse and accelerate to get back to the parking space, but car is still going forward, scary. I stopped the engine and again tried to reverse; it worked. I swear to god that I never hit the acceleration since it's a parking spot, why would I do that. . . Car still went forward, so it's a genuine bug in the Ford 150 which needs to be fixed, otherwise its going to hurt or kill people I still have loan to pay for this car, but after todays incident I will not take his car out again , unless Ford give me proper explanation and fixes. I read many similar stories in rediit, so I think this is real issue. Other wise why the car wont stop even I press th break pedal, remember I configure this car with one pedal, but still nothing worked. Any help in sorting this out is higly appreciated, I am more worried about the risk of the public's life with this kind of issues where I cannot stop the car even after pressing the break, its really scary.

Service Brakes problem #7

3 weeks after purchasing a brand new 2024 f150, brake light, abs, traction control, hill start assist, antilock brake fault pre-collision assist warnings all illuminated and sounded. Took an exit and had no brake control. Went into a ditch and hit a piece of metal, causing minor body damage to my new truck. Vehicle is being worked on and electronic brake booster is being replaced. Battery was not installed properly/connected tightly. Grounding issue also found.

Service Brakes problem #8

I purchased this vehicle new 7/31/25. Within the first week of ownership I noticed a noise coming from the rear axle. Brought into Ford dealer for diagnosis at 723 miles: tech notes indicated that the abs tone ring was not manufactured correctly and was hitting the abs wheel speed sensor. The sensor had visible impact marks. The rear axle assembly was replaced under warranty. The repair took over 10 days. At this point I was concerned about the q/c and build quality of the vehicle. I asked Ford for an extended warranty as a goodwill gesture, which was denied. This failure was related to a federally regulated safety system: abs brakes. ~5 months later on 1/8/26 (12, 336 miles), I attempted to place the vehicle in park using column shifter, a service light came on and the truck was not responding to the shifter input. I turned the truck off with the parking brake engaged, restarted truck and another warning light came on saying place vehicle into park. The truck would not start and I was left stranded without warning. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealer. Diagnosis revealed the shifter module was faulty and needed to be replaced. Ford had a TSB about this issue. The repair took 7 days. At this point I'm extremely concerned about the reliability of this vehicle. This has been two major failures within less than 6 months of ownership. Ford contacted me asking how my experience was with the vehicle. I informed them I was very disappointed and had safety concerns. I asked for an extended warranty which was denied. I then escalated the ticket to asking for a voluntary buyback from Ford. Ford notified me that I didn't meet the criteria for a voluntary buyback and the claim was denied. Due to the repeated failures I do not feel safe continuing to drive this vehicle and I want Ford to step in and assist with this matter.

Service Brakes problem #9

Since 28 June 2026, there has been an issue with braking system. I called the local Ford dealer twice and was told there has been no reported brake issues with 2024 Ford F-150. The first time this happened, I was driving on a county (dirt road) and I applied the brakes, and the brakes did not work. Thankfully, there was no traffic and I coasted to a stop. The same problem with the brakes has happened four more times.

Service Brakes problem #10

Three incidents happened with this vehicle. When I put the car on reverse and reversed and stopped, the gear was then put on drive and before the accelerator was stepped on the vehicle propelled itself at a very high speed and I had to emergently step on the brakes before it hit anything. The the front collision warning did not come on and the vehicle did not brake on its own. The same thing happened in our driveway and before we could apply the brakes the vehicle crashed into a tree. This time also the front collision warning did not come on and the vehicle did not brake and went and hit a tree. There was a video that captured this incident and was shown to our Ford dealership and they did not do anything about it. We told them that the vehicle accelerates by itself and is a safety hazard. Since this did not involve any other vehicle or pedestrian the hazard was limited only to ourselves, the insurance was charged more than $10,000 to fix the damages and we also had to pay a deductible of $1000. More importantly we are unaware if this has been reported by others and can cause serious injuries to the driver, occupants of the vehicle and other who may be involved inadvertenly. Any death caused will become the responsibility of the driver even though this was not the mistake of the driver.

Service Brakes problem #11

The parking brake has repeatedly engaged without action from the owner/operator. This seems to happen at random. The dash warning light does show upon occurrence. There is no known cause for, or understanding of, this malfunction. The Ford certified dealer could not confirm as it did not occur under their supervision when serviced. Fortunately, occurrences thus far have been while the vehicle is not in motion. However, this is extremely dangerous and could cause severe injury or death. Imagine the horrific accident if the parking brake were to engage while traveling with a family of four, going 65mph down the highway. Innocent lives would be lost. Children's lives. It's heartbreaking and traumatizing to think about. This is a massive safety risk and obviously very concerning. Furthermore, the rear brake pads and rotors have already been replaced (at 4k miles) due to overheating, warping, and uneven wear. At 4k miles!? are these issues related? possibly. Will they be repetitive? possibly. Nevertheless, it's too significant of a risk. It's one that no one would want to take. Something needs to be done. Thank you. Ford offers a buyback program, but has denied the request. Ford has provided ineffective and unacceptable responses to a filed better business bureau complaint. Ford has not accepted responsibility for the issue. The severity is not being taken seriously.

Service Brakes problem #12

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? when the brakes were applied, the vehicle accelerated instead of slowing down/stopping. The vehicle is available for inspection and we are begging for someone to investigate this as we do not want to get behind the wheel of this truck if the issue is determined and rectified. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? because of the above issue, the car accelerated and crashed into a building putting the driver and passenger at risk. The airbags deployed. The vehicle went over a walkway where, luckily, no one was walking or they would have been seriously injured or potentially killed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Ford keeps telling us to work with our insurance company. The insurance company did an estimate for the repairs, but they are not able to inspect the vehicle and determine the cause of the malfunction. Our insurance adjuster said that Ford needs to be the one to access the black box and perform testing to determine the malfunction. Ford has been unresponsive to our claim and the service manager where the vehicle is sitting will not touch the truck due to it being a Ford liability. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, the vehicle just suddenly accelerated when the brake was applied. The airbags deployed when the truck hit the building, the horn went off and wouldn't stop, and the brakes are stuck (unable to apply pressure).

Service Brakes problem #13

Had truck in park brake light was on. Rolled out of my driveway into the street when I was walking back to my house alarm went off that is when I turned around and saw my truck part way in the road. Called dealership they called back right away they set up an appointment for March 13.

Service Brakes problem #14

Ford issued a recall for Ford lightnings produced from November 2023 to February 2024, for the front ball joint nut falling off. Causing a loss of control, suspension and all steering input, later crashing. New truck with 700 miles. Fords guesstimate of 12000 trucks, going by the month math is more likely than not well over 24000 affected vehicles. My truck was manufactured June 2024. My husband moved/unscrewed the aforementioned nut, off the left upper ball joint with the fingers on his hand. The nut was loose. The upper ball joint appeared hand tight. Ford nearly killed us. I advised william at NHTSA and he hung the phone up on me. William needs to be terminated. William is apparently biased against gay men and/or retired law enforcement officers.

Service Brakes problem #15

The contact rented a 2024 Ford F-150 lightning. The contact stated while driving 55 mph and attempting to slow the vehicle, the rpms suddenly increased, after which the contact became aware that the vehicle was accelerating independently. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard however, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact shifted to park(p) to bring the vehicle to a stop. The vehicle then returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The contact requested a replacement vehicle from the rental company. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was unaware if the vehicle was taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The contact was unaware if the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000. The VIN was not available.

Service Brakes problem #16

After having the vehicle serviced by authorized dealer the brake system and electrical system displayed the same issues as it had previously. The safety braking system sent warnings and failures 3 times and I returned it to the dealership for further repairs. While driving the abs senses a failure, along with hill assist, and the front end collision system. All of these systems sent failure warnings and made braking very difficult.

Service Brakes problem #17

The contact rented a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact was able to steer the vehicle and ended up in a neighbor's driveway. The contact was then able to shift into park. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact informed the enterprise rental car where the vehicle was rented of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a complaint. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.

Service Brakes problem #18

Anti lock brake fault and disabled hill start assist failure collision waring system failure all of these occurred while driving. Luckily I was able to move the vehicle of the road and was able to avoid any accidents.

Service Brakes problem #19

Twice when opening the drivers door, my 2024 Ford F-150 raptor v6 has chimed and then displayed “brake system failure”. Starting the truck, shutting off the motor and locking/unlocking the drivers door appears to clear the message. The local Ford dealership updated the software and believed it corrected the issue. Today, I drove approximately 30 miles, shut off the engine, locked the door and had lunch. When entering the truck again, I got an alert chime and the dashboard had an error reading “parking brake failure”.
