My wife was parking our f150 in a parking lot with landscaped dividers I was a passenger. The vehicle was in one foot driving mode. As she approached the curb going 1 to 3 mph, she moved her foot from the accelerator to the brake. As soon as she left the accelerator the vehicle rocketed off. She put her foot down on the brake, but the power of the vehicle was so great and so fast the vehicle went over the curb and a 4 inch landscaping tree. Luckily we were facing a drive on the other side and not a car. The vehicle stopped in the drive. The surge possibly lasted 1-2 seconds, but that was enough to lose complete control. If we were facing another car we would have landed on top of it. We were not injured and no pedestrians were in the vicinity. The body shop and the Ford dealership were unable to tell us what occurred. Ford needs to access the edr module. Online research shows this event has happened to other owners.
Forward collision assist was activated without warning and for no reason. Brakes were applied abruptly causing the vehicle to slow down dramatically causing passengers to lurch forward which caused temporary discomfort in head, neck and shoulder area. Driving at approximately 50mph in a straight direction on a two-lane road, one lane for each direction. There were no vehicles in front or rear in same lane of travel. Had just passed another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Road conditions were normal. Roadway was dry with no obstacles. Vehicle is scheduled for inspection.
Wednesday [xxx]/phantom braking proceeding northbound on [xxx] at estimated speed of 35 mph. Road was clear with no oncoming traffic. Suddenly the brakes locked up and a collision notice appeared on dash. Brakes released and continued northbound with no further issues. The automatic forward collision warning slammed on the breaks whe. There were no other vehicles or obstacles in the road.
On September 19, 2025, my wife was at the wheel of our 2025 Ford F-150 lightning (VIN: [xxx] ), a vehicle we had leased just months earlier on June 22, 2025, from sam galloway Ford at [xxx] . Traveling at a mere 15-20 mph when she was involved in a routine multi-vehicle collision (no citations were issued). No collision warning was sounded. The front-end impact triggered an instantaneous and ferocious eruption of flames from the truck's forward section. The vehicle was swiftly consumed in a raging inferno, leading to its complete and irreparable destruction. My wife narrowly escaped with her life, scrambling from the cab amid the explosive intensification of the fire while relying on the urgent assistance of bystanders to reach safety—mere seconds from what could have been a fatal entrapment. She endured profound terror, acute anxiety, and an overwhelming fear for her very survival in the face of this abrupt and merciless blaze. Responding emergency crews, including the fire department, pinpointed the origin at the vehicle's front end, aligning with hallmarks of a catastrophic battery or electrical malfunction. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
