2 Parking Brake Linkage And Cable problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/03/2007

On 3 occasions the rear parking brake has hung up and caused excessive chattering and shuddering at speeds over 10mph. Caused the passenger rear brake rotor and assembly to be so hot that smoke was evident. Caused caliper assembly to fail with less than 40,000 mile for the 3rd time. Dealer said to disconnect parking brake or pull off the glued brake lining and not to use it any longer. On last occasion new rotor and caliper was installed leaving the parking brake adjusted well away from the drum and I was suggested to not use the parking brake because this is a similar problem with others.

4 Parking Brake Linkage And Cable problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/08/2007

Purchased truck new. Had highway speed shudders and vibration. Dealer said this is a common problem and it would go away by its self. On the third visit, they said that they fixed it and we left. Immediately, we turned around because the problem was not fixed. We found that the parking brake was dragging and that what was causing the shuttering and vibration. They fixed the problem and we've not had anymore issues with this until recently. We had the rear differential replaced for the slipping problem and now the parking brakes are dragging again. This is not safe and in my opinion can cause a fire.

5 Parking Brake Linkage And Cable problem of the 2000 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/09/2007

On the interstate traveling 60-65 mph I started feeling a vibration. Pulled off to check tires and seen nothing obvious but could smell something hot. Pulled into well lit parking garage. Found rear drivers side brake locked on to tire. The invoice states 'driver rear parking brake cable was not releasing. Had to tear apart the driver rear drum assembly and unhook cable from shoes. Had to unload spring tension on parking brake pedal assembly in order to unhook cables. When drivers rear cable removed it was locked up.

6 Parking Brake Linkage And Cable problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/11/2005

Since 3000k miles my truck would shimmy/shake violently to the point I would have to pull off the road. After multiple times to dealeship problem still there. I noticed my emergency brake light stayed on once after pulling release. Had to reapply and pull again and did release. A week later, e brake would not release after multiple attempts. After putting in gear, finally did release. After backing out of driveway, as I started to drive truck was shaking badly. I deducted e-brake sticking causing shaking. Brought to dealer- found stuck e-brake. Replaced adaptor, rotor asy-brake, cable asy-parking brake. Picked up truck-tried e-brake and went to floor, did not hold truck when in gear. Ebrake not working again after just being replaced.

Failure Date: 06/03/2005

Dt vehicle has constant vibration, it shakes violently at 45 mph and above. The dealer states its the emergency brake cable causes this to happen. They have already replaced the motor mounts, and the rear end twice because the originally thought that was the problem. Currently, it still shakes and they think its because rear emergency brake locked up. .
