Ten problems related to tire valve have been reported for the 2000 Ford F-450. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 2000 Ford F-450 with 19. 5" general tires. I had a flat tire whereby the valve stem blew out. I had to replace the valve stems in all tires because, according to the tire shop where they were replaced, they were the wrong valve stems. The stems were not for high pressure tires but rather regular automobile tires. Ford had a recall but only checked to see if they were leaking. They shouild have replaced them with the proper valves.
Valve stems are braking off at tire rim, causing tire to go flat. Ford has been contacted. Ford has issued a recall #01v046 but only inspected vehicle for leaks. The valve stems need replacing. Other valve stems are made from steel. These are made of rubber which can break off with a load.
There was a recall on the tire valve stem, but was not fixed since the dealer said it was ok. While the consumer was traveling, the out side left rear tire was losing air due to the defective valve stem which damaged the tire walls.
Tires were blowing out. Air pressure was too heavy for valve stem. Dealer stated stem was made of plastic. Please provide any further information.
Consumer received recall 01v046000. Took vehicle in for service. Dealer inspected tire stem, found no leak. Almost a year later while driving both rear tires blewout as a result of valve stem coming out. Dealer refused to replace tire.
Valve stems that go into wheels tore out of wheels. When this happens vehicle tires blowout all at once while driving down the road. Consumer has yet to contact dealer.
On two occasions a tire on the vehicle experienced a sudden blowout, the first tire blewout while driving, this tire had 25000 mile at the time of failure, at this time the consumer discovered there was a recall (01v-046)on the valve stem and made an appointment with the dealer but prior to the appointment the valve stem had to be replaced due to a leak, the vehicle waw taken to the dealer for the recall but nothing was done, the second tire blewout while the vehicle was sitting a stop light, this tire had 28000 miles at the time of failure, the consumer is requesting reimbursement for the replaced tires (continental-general tire 225-70r19. 5 lmt-400). Nlm.
Tires were replaced under recall 01v046000, tires are still going flat. Dealership stated wrong type of valves were installed.
Since purchasing truck I have talked to many people who have purchased Ford 450's and all of them have had problems with their valve stems. Several had 4 valve stem failures and advised me to change mine. (dot number: cu9r hmtj tiresize: 22570r19. 5).
Rubber valve stem kept coming off tire. Had to replace them with the metal steam. Dealer/general tires company were notified. Lowering psi to 80 works okay. The customer also replaced all rubber stems to metal steam.
