Ambulance was responding to a call and experienced a sudden loss of steering control. This was caused by the steering link becoming disconnected from the steering knuckle arm. The disconnected steering link was cause by a broken steering link tie rod end. The tie rod end separated at the threaded nut end. Review of the tie rod end showed signs of the rod end being cracked through the threads for some time; as evidenced by the signs of rust. It is believed that either, the nut was over torqued hen installed at the factory or that there was a stress fracture created when the threads were being cut on the tie rod end.
Engine will shut off while driving and not restart or just not start.
