Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford F-450. The contact stated that while being inspected by a dealer, it was found that the fuel tank was delaminating on the inside. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available. Mah.
The vehicle involved is a horton ambulance on a Ford f450 chasis. While on an emergency call the unit stopped operating and then engine would no longer start. The vehicle was towed to ted britt Ford's truck repair center in chantilly. Upon examination they found that due to the fuel tank delaminating, debris had damaged the fuel pump and fuel system. Spoke with Ford in regards to recall or repair assistance as this is a highly documented issue. Ford refuses to acknowledge this as an ongoing issue and will not take ownership for the defective fuel tanks. At this time we are considering having to replace all of our Ford steel fuel tanks as we have no way to prevent this damage to our vehicles and Ford refuses to resolve the issue.
