Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Ford F-450

This is the third time I have had this issue. I will be driving my truck and will out of nowhere get a warning on the dash that says: “pre-collision assist not available” then after that happens I will not be able to set the cruise control. This can only be fixed by a trip to the dealer ship and usual takes 10-15 days to get fixed. It will work as normal for a few thousand miles than come back. It also happened approximately January 2nd with approximately 2000 and March 15th with 4000 miles.

While driving systems start to fualt, pre-collision not available, pre-collition fault, cruise control stops working, hill descent control fault, hill start assist warning. Started happening soon after purchase and happens ramdomly while driving almost every time. Resets after vihicle is turned off and back on. Had dealer inspect promblem and was told there was no fix for it.

A warning comes on stating the pre-collision assist not available and does not go away. Adaptive cruise control and standard cruise control also do not work. It has been at the dealer and they can not get it to work. From reading online this has happened to a handful of 2024 Ford super dutys.

Vehicle does not remember its previous settings: the following features may or may not be on, even if you have actively went through and turned them off or on. Local dealership has had this truck over 4 times and for days at a time. Nothing has been resolved of these safety functions. Rear automatic emergency braking engine brake lane departure warning (which actually jerks steering wheel if it is on and you get close to the edge of the lane) lane centering assistance these safety sensitive functions turn themselves on and off, no matter the amount of computer updates through the dealer. Dealer has not been able to resolve this issue and the technician has not been able to get Ford to give her any answers as well.

My horn started going off continuously, I got messages on my digital dash system, saying that my lane assist had a fault, my adaptive speed control was faulty, and other system. Safety features were inactive. Ford has an issue, and they acknowledge the issue of the fuse box under the hood randomly coming off, which allows water to get into the fuse system, and start corroding wires which start sending mixed signals and failures to the system.

Sudden acceleration while braking. While towing a gooseneck trailer aprox. 25,000 lbs, with the truck in tow/haul mode and the exhaust/engine brake turned on, started down a long winding 8% grade, could feel the engine brake working as normal, holding the truck from gaining speed, as the truck entered the second turn, the truck lunged forward gaining a lot of speed causing me to quickly stab the brakes, the truck continued this type of on/off cycle with quickly acclerating while standing on the brakes to try and control it until I leaned over and swithched the engine brake off, making it necassary to ride the brakes down the grade to maintain a safe speed and not lose control. By the time we reached the bottom, smoke was coming from both the truck and trailer brakes and the stopping power was nearly gone. The truck has done this intermittently without warning and is a major concern for safety. A search on truck forums show a number of people with the same concern. Dealer has been able to reproduce the problem, but does not have a solution. I beleive its a defect in the new 10 speed transmission and tied to the ongoing vibration / shake / hop / bounce we are experiancing.

Tl-the contact owns a Ford f -450. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the driver's seat moved backwards and contact was uanble to touch the brake and accelerator pedal. Additionally, the radio spontaneously turned on. The front windshield fogged up. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nick nicholas Ford inc 2901 FL-44, inverness, FL 34453(352) 726-1231 where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assitance was provided. The failure mielage was 9,900. Ap.

When traveling down the hiway,sometimes you will lose power. You will feel a jerk. The engine is still running but no power to the wheels. Pretty scary when you are trying to pass a vehicle on the interstate. You try to pull over to the side of the road. You have no means of movement. You can now turn off the vehicle and put it in neutral and restart the engine,you can now continue down the hiway until it happens again. This has happened multiple times. We have driven with our horse trailer down to arizona 3 times and this has happened 3-4 times each way. Ford dealer where purchased has no clue what is causing this. This vehicle was purchased brand new. We have had this problem since new.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford f450 sd. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started and shifted in gear it attempted to accelerate. The contact applied extreme pressure to the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle from lunging forward. The contact stated that he had to turn the vehicle off twice and restart it. Truck has a dead throttle w/o any notice. I can drive my kids around all day and try to cross traffic and I have lost throttle response. This first occurred when truck had about 800 miles on it. It never flashed a code so I was sent away with a button to press when it would do it again. After weeks in service the map sensor was change. Problem was fixed but occurred again without notice about a year later. Map sensor was changed again problem fixed. Truck is once again experiencing this dead throttle currently and am not sure what to do. I took it to the dealer and they said no codes came through. I am driving a potential death trap.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford f450. He noticed smoke coming from under the hood after he cranked the engine. He then shut the vehicle off, opened the hood and saw flames. There is a recall for the vehicle speed control (NHTSA campaign id#06v286000) however, the dealer stated that his VIN was not included as part of the recall. 2006 Ford f-150 accelerated unexpected while stopped. Although I applied the brake pedal as hard as possible the truck accelerated uncontrollably and hit a building because I avoided hitting a crowd a people. The truck was nearly new, approx 2000 mi causing $20k damage.

I travel for work and drive many different types of rental cars. I have had the following occur in more models than I can remember. Vehicle accelerates when you apply the brakes. Root cause: the elevation / spacing relationship between the brake pedal and the accelerator. Operator error contributes to the problem also. People have a tendencie to roll their foot from the gas pedal to the right hand side of the brake pedal. Depending on the angle of their foot, the edge of thier shoe will hang over the gas pedal. When they apply the brake they also apply the gas. The engine torq over comes the brake friction and the car accelerates. Most of the time when this happens I can remove my foot, relocate it on the brake pedal and safely stop. Several times my situation required me to hold the brake / gas pedals in position and quickly use my left foot to apply the brake to prevent an accident. Wearing my heavy boots with a large sole increases the frequences of these incidents.
