Door problems of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

The contact had to tape the door to secure it until she could take the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred on the front passenger side door. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v246000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Latch on back door of driver's side unlocked while vehicle was in motion. Stopped vehicle and door would not stay closed. Tied broken door across to door at back of passenger's side. Started vehicle. Latch on back door of passenger's side unlocked while in motion. Second door would not stay closed. Brought car to Ford dealership. Dealer reported that door parts were "defective" and would not be covered under warranty. Had to purchase new door latches and get them installed for $1,000. Major safety issue. I was lucky I had no passengers!!!!! doors unlatched while in motion!.

I got into my car this morning, and my dash illuminated that a door was open. The led display stated that my rear passenger door was ajar. I got out of the car and sure enough, my back passenger door was opened. I tried to close it, but the door would simply bounce off the metal frame, never closing. I seat belted the door closed and carefully, and slowly drove to the dealership. I had not opened the back passenger door the previous day. The door would drift open while driving, so I had to keep a firm hold on the seatbelt to keep it from flying open. It was a terrifying experience. I was told by the dealer that the part would not be available for several days. I had to miss work today as my car has been in the dealership all day. I work an hour away and have to travel via highway. I am worried about my safety as well as the safety of drivers around me.

Drivers side rear door will not latch shut. Keeps popping open. Have to keep back doors shut with bungee cords just to drive vehicle. Have been waiting since August 2nd for a part that is apparently back ordered. Was told by Ford it would be here September 11th, but still have not heard anything yet.

While I was driving the back drivers side door flew open. I had just recently put some packages in the back seat and shut the door. To my knowledge the door was closed. It appeared to be anyways. I took it in to berge Ford dealership two days later. They told me I needed a new latch. They said this has been happening so much in the Ford Fiesta's and Ford focus that they have a hard time getting the parts. Apparently, there have been some recalls, but just not on my year of car. They suggested I get assistance from Ford motor CO. So a claim was filed. After calling Ford every day for a week they finally gave me any answer on July 30th. They are going to pay for a new latch, but there hasn't been a recall as yet. My concern, is if that a child was in the backseat an injury or death could have occurred because the door does appear to be closed when shutting it. It is also concerning that this is an ongoing problem with these latches according to not only the dealer, but Ford motor CO. Customer service manager as well.

Back passenger door lock suddenly would not catch. Warranty had expired 3 months ago although mileage only 28000. I took it to 2 dealers. One told me that they have seen at least 70 cars with this problem and that there have been so many that the parts are on back order. At the other dealership the customer service rep told me that he had already seen about 5 in the last month, in fact there was another vehicle there that day with the same issue, only it was a different Ford model. My latch failure was unusual because it failed after the warranty had expired. Most are failing under warranty. One dealership quoted me $600 to fix. The other dealership gave me a break since there was such low mileage and discounted it to $100. I suspect that this lock failure is happening to tens of thousands of cars, but NHTSA is not hearing about it because it is happening under warranty.

When leaving the grocery store, I noticed that the indicator showed that the rear driver door showed open. We tried closing it but it wouldn't close. I drove home while my passenger held the back door closed. On the following Monday, I took the car in to the dealership. After a few hours, they contacted me and said the part was on backorder and that it would be in at the end of the week. I talked to the person on wed. And they said the part was on the truck and would be there on Friday so I made an appt. To bring my car back today. After 5 hours at the dealership, they told me that the part was on backorder until mid-August and that 2 other people brought in the same car today with the same problem.

Rear door latches fail to close both rear doors. They both failed approximately the same time. I now have them tied together from the inside. This is definitely a safety hazard. The dealer said there isn't a recall. They also stated it could take up to 3 weeks to get replacement latches because Ford can't keep up with replacement parts. That tells me there is a problem. Waiting to see if there will be a recall. Ford wants approximately $500 to replace both latches because vehicle is no longer under warranty. I request you contact Ford and have them replace the latches at no cost.

Arrived home after picking up dry cleaning and placing it on back seat, via back driver's side door. Opened door to retrieve clothes, door would not latch shut. Had to have my son sit in back seat and hold door, while I drove to dealership, as the door would swing open when I made a turn. Turns out, car was four days out of warranty, necessitating my paying the full repair cost. By the way, I was told by the service advisor that his wife's Fiesta was in the shop for the same problem and she was three days out of warranty. Part was backordered. He told me Ford is aware that this is a problem, but hasn't made it a recall. Cost me $300+ to fix. Ford needs to step up and cover/reimburse owners!.

This vehicle - driver rear door assembly was replace due to malfunction door open and will not shut on April 3, 2014 I bought this car on may 15, 2014 last week on October 10th my 16yrs old daughter was driving the car and entering to the school parking lot the door open without any reason - contacted Ford and after fighting as vehicle even though is only 34000 miles is not longer under warranty they will be fixing my concern is this is the 2nd time same problem is happening to this vehicle and could had end up on a fatality . Is Ford inspecting the replacement parts or just mending the issue , per online lookup has being at least 76 complains and there has not being a recall yet .

Rear passenger door latch assembly total failure through normal use. Unable to close & secure door. Vehicle structural integrity compromised, extreme safety exposure to vehicle's occupants. Manufacturer (Ford) declined responsibility to remediate problem due to accumulated mileage beyond warranty (36,000 miles). Ford dealer used "bungee" cords to hold door closed. Ford customer representative encouraged filing compliant with NHTSA saying. . . "go for it".

Closed rear passenger door after putting a bag in the car. Started to back out of parking spot when dash display said "door open. " pulled door closed. . . Same thing. Got out. Door latch had completely failed. I now have door bungied closed for three weeks. Contacted Ford and was contacted by local dealer. That was two weeks ago. Called back on Aug. 23, they know nothing or have done nothing. Major safety issue. Cannot use back seat for passengers at all.

1) fuel leaked unto the ground under the car. . 2) while driving when I reached 60 mph to front end of the car started shaking. . 3) door panel fell apart.
