36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

After being in park at a gas station, I go into drive and start to go when the cars shudders, screeches, halts, and then loses power. I was able to start the car again, but when I pressed the gas there is no power. I try to put the car in park, and though the gear is in park an alert comes up telling me to put the car in park. Car will not go into park. Keeps rolling. Have to use my emergency break to stop the car. Paid out of pocket to have the car towed to the nearest Ford dealership. They said they were "pretty sure" it was the transmission control module. 5 days after bring it to them I call and find out that they have reprogrammed the transmission control module and something with the clutch. The problem is still not fixed. I haven't even been able to talk to the mechanic personally, but the lady at the service desk said "it's really thrown him for a loop. It definitely seems to be something with your transmission, but diagnostics says nothing is wrong with the car". This is going to kill someone. Period. It could've killed my boyfriend, my friend, my unborn baby and myself. I'm am furious with Ford. I have read hundreds of complaints from other people have the same problem with the same car. How has this not been recalled???.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

My 2011 Ford Fiesta, shuts off without warning. Although it seems to be related to having the a/c or heat on, the issue has gotten progressively worse. My vehicle has less than 90,000 miles and the car battery has been checked and is reportedly in good condition. It occurs when I am slowing down to brake or pulling off but brake suddenly, the vehicle seems to stall and shut off.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

I opened the passenger rear door to put a package on the back seat. When I tried to close the door, it would not stay closed. It would shut and bounce back open and would not latch. I tested the latching mechanism and confirmed that it would not engage. I had to have a passenger hold the door shut on the short drive home and had to secure the door to the other passenger door with a bungee cord. I have contacted a dealer and will have to have the entire latch replaced and I'm not sure it's covered by warranty at this point. This is an extremely serious safety issue that should be subject to a mandatory recall by Ford.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2015

The car was parked in my driveway and after loading my child into his car seat in the back seat of the vehicle I attempted to close the door and it wouldn't stay closed. The latch wouldn't stay closed so I tried to close it again slowly, then firmer and still it wouldn't close. The door would pop back out. I can push it closed enough that the interior lights will stay off but it will open if I close any other doors or try to drive away. The latch on the door does not stay engaged on the car.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2015

Rear passenger door opened while pulling out of the driveway. Defective door latch is hardly ever used since only one person drives the vehicle.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

Door will not stay closed. Door lock failed when I tried to shut the door.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

The passenger side door swung open while the vehicle was in motion. Luckily the passenger was not harmed but the door closed swung back very fast and very easily could have caused serious injury. The door has not been able to close since the time of the incident. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealer for inspection but since it was over 60,000 miles it could not be repaired within the warranty period. The problem is a faulty door latch. Ford just announced it was recalling vehicles for that same problem but it does not include the 2011 model, only from 2012 to 2014 event though its the same part being used.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

As I was making a left u turn at approximately 10 mph, the passenger side door swung open and wouldn't close. Now it seems the door latch won't catch. Nothing appears to be broken or damaged, the door just wont close.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2015

As I was merging into traffic on a major highway, at around 35 mph my car suddenly bogged down and almost stalled before regaining power and I barely avoided getting run over by other vehicles. This transmission is very erratic and has since stalled and surged forward without cause. I am pretty much afraid to drive it in traffic. Some days, it does pretty good, but on others, it can be very tricky and dangerous to drive. I have to back out into the highway from my driveway and it has just stayed in a neutral gear when I had it in drive at times. This car is very unsafe and I don't see how Ford motor company can get away with such unsafe issues.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

When attempting to close rear passenger side door on 2011 Ford Fiesta, the door failed to latch and would not remain closed. Upon closer inspection, the latching mechanism in the door would not remain in the latched position and would fall open under its own weight.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2015

Front door does not lock when pushing button in middle of dashboard. Back passenger side door does not latch to stay shut. Door is held shut with bungies strung up under front seat, very ghetto. Part (latch) cost over $200. 00 to fix.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

The rear passenger door opened on its own and will no longer latch, nothing appears broken when looking at the latch. I have the door tied shut with rope.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2015

Passenger rear door latch won't engage or close. Mechanic found a defective latch assembly.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2015

Driver's side rear door suddenly could not latch. Took it to the dealer who charged $500 to fix it. Car only has 47000 miles on it so it should not have happened. Did not have any children so rarely used the rear doors. I do not think I should have been charged for the repair.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2015

When a passenger attempted to close the front passenger door on this vehichle, it refused to latch. This is the third door latch on this vehichle that has failed. Two doors have been repaired but one remains bungee corded closed due to the high cost of the repair.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

Me and my children were at the mall and when we went to the car we discovered the driver's rear door was damaged. The door would not close completely and posed a threat to my children's safety. I paid $144. 00 for the latch piece that seemed to be the problem. And another $128. 00 to get it installed at my dealer. I use the highway to get home usually and I am afraid that any other one of the doors might open on their own while I'm getting home or while I'm driving with my children.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2014

Car right rear door which is not used very often will not stay in shut position. It is now tied shut and this is a safety issue. It appears the door latch is broken.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2014

2011 Ford Fiesta bought at garber used cars in saginaw michigan. I have had my car worked on for the recall for t e transmission rings. They told me they needed to also change out the clutch. Prior to this I spent 1200 dollars on the transmission part they said wasnt covered by a recall. The engine light started coming on a few days ago. They told me it was the cadylitic converter. 650 to replace, and yesterday my car refused to start. . . The safety won't unlock and my car can't go into any gear but park. I had to have it towed. . . Still waiting for the clutch and converter to come in so it can be repaired. When it runs it is a good ride. But the car has cost me all sorts of money I really cant afford to pay out. I will say if Ford doesnt come through and take responsibility for this car and fix the issues the company will lose my business forever. I am angry and disappointed and tired of payig for something that is so undependable.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

Door latch not working properly. 1. Parked the car and rear passenger opened the rear passenger side door 2. Closed the door but it didn't latch 3. Repeatedly attempted to close the door but it wouldn't latch 4. Put the key tip in the central locking/unlocking and twisted/jiggled it (central locking/unlocking is located on the door just above the latch) 5. Closed the door and it latched. 6. This issue happens each time you open the door from the inside (passenger exiting the car). You can open the door from the outside and the door works correctly. 7. Looked on the NHTSA website to see if the problem has been reported and I see many issues with Ford Fiesta door latches, so added my report.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2014

I was driving with children in back seat of vehicle and both rear doors flew open while driving. Upon pulling over to secure rear doors, I observed that the right rear door latch is locked and will not close and the left rear door latch is open and will not secure upon closing.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2014

Went to my car , put a bag in the back floor , shut the back door , the door bounced back and hit me, the latch would not catch.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2014

While driving at highway speed, the rear passenger door opened. After stopping, I found the latch on the door did not work.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

A month and a half ago the rear passenger door refused to close. Today the driver side passenger door swung open while I was backing out of the driveway and would not close.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2014

My passenger side rear door was opened when getting into the car and was then closed but it did not latch. The door ajar light continues to stay on. Two weeks later the same thing happened with the driver side rear passenger door. This has cause my battery to go bad and had to be replaced, I called my Ford dealership zeck Ford in leavenworth kansas and they told me I would have to pay for the repair and if it is recalled then I would be issued a refund or I could just wait it out and see if there is a recall issued. For the mean time, I have my rear doors secured with a ratchet strap inbetween the handles due to the huge cost of repairing the door latches, my door ajar light continues to stay on and my car battery is being drained down everynight putting extra wear on a brand new battery. If I let it sit for more than one night then it has to be jump started. I am not very happy with Ford motor company for not addressing this ASAP. I believe this is a huge safety problem and I am unable to have any passengers in the rear seats and I fear that one or both of the front doors could fail with the same problem causing injury to myself, or my passenger or causing my vehicle to be un drivable if one of the front doors fails.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

Woke up one morning, went to go put some stuff in back seat of my car. Shut the door and noticed it popped right back. Tried again and kept popping back. Has not closed since. Took to Ford and said my latch broke and that it would be almost $500 in service and parts.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

My husband went to place my son's toddler seat in the back seat when he did he later tried to close the door and the door would not latch. We tried closing it several times and not successful. This happened to the right rear door. My husband then took the car to a Ford dealership and said that it would cost roughly $500 to diagnose and fix the problem. We didn't leave it because this should be something that Ford should take care of since to me it seems to be a car defect and not anything we did to it. So we saw that we are not the only ones with this problem and want to unite with other owners to get this resolved with a recall.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Rear passenger door latch will not hold door shut. The door failed to latch when a passenger used the door for normal entry and tried to close it. No initiating event or damage preceded this failure.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Driving at about 20 mph in a parking lot all of a sudden the left rear door opened and could not be shut again due to a malfunctioning of the locking system. ( door latch).

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2014

Incident happened while the vehicle (2011 Ford Fiesta) was parked in austin, TX. After opening the rear passenger door, it would not close. The latch assembly for the door appears to be broken. We took the vehicle to a Ford dealership and they indicated that it would cost ~$500 for the new latch assembly and installation. We have opted to hold the door together by using a bungee cord and rope on the inside of the vehicle.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

As I arrive home open the back door and was not able to closed again had to go to dealer to buy the part and had it replace. The latch stop working part # be8z 5426412 b.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

I was parked that day and sat my daughter in the back seat but as I closed the passenger door, it did not latch so I was forced to tie the seatbelt to the door to avoid accidentally opening while driving on the freeway. Also, when parked at home, I am forced to unlpug the battery or it will discharge.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

The rear passenger-side door will not latch. Fortunately, I noticed it before I pulled away.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2014

I got in my car, shut the door and did my normal start up routine. I was following my wife home and shortly after starting to drive I leaned over to the left like I always do to put my elbow on the window sill when the door came open. I lost balance to the left and slightly swerved and hit the breaks to stop. The door flung open from momentum and bounced back at me when the car stopped. It hit my left side but no major damage. My wife stopped up ahead and came back and we were unable to figure out why the door popped open and could not get it to latch. I took my car to the dealership on Monday and they told me that this was a known problem. The first service adviser, not my regular service adviser, told me to keep my receipt and when the recall was issued they would reimburse me and that it should only be a few weeks. As I was leaving my regular service adviser saw me and asked what was going on. I told her the situation and she said that they should not have even charged it as they had already been dealing with the issue for other customers. She tried to stop the billing from going through but they had already processed it. She said not to worry and it would only be a few weeks at max. . . This was over six weeks ago. This issue may be under reported because of this.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

The rear passenger door latch would not close. . As I attempted to drive away the back rear passenger door swung open. The door would not stay closed at all and the entire latch system on that door had to be replaced.

70 Equipment problem
