I was driving to work this morning; the car made a horrible "clunk" when I accelerated to around 20 then lost power and nearly crashed. The car then displayed error lights (yellow cel, yellow wrench icon, head unit showed "transmission issue service immediately" this is a direct result of the dps6 transmission put into all 7th gen Ford focus/fiesta models. This dct transmission has been replaced 3 times for this particular car and failed the same manner each time - meaning 3 near accidents have occured because this transmission fails. Across the USA; more than 50 people have been injured as a result of this transmission failing.
Front passenger door latch don't stay shut and not able to latch shut, moving turning left the door swung open. In city street. . Notice it was on a recall. . . Turned it in on April 6,2021.
Nothing.
After a recall of door latches that were replaced I have had 3 other latches malfunction. Most recently my driver side door. I had talked to my dealership and they told me I am responsible for the repair now. They did repair one latch after the recall work was done under warranty. I currently cannot safely drive my vehicle!.
Right front passenger door latch failed (155364miles on odometer). Can't close/lock door. Latches were replaced under recall 2/28/18 @ 148,721 miles.
The passenger-side door will not open from the inside.
Door latch on the driver side and passenger rear door not working.
While the vehicle was parked I attempted to close the right rear door and the door didn't latch/close. Took the car to the dealer (fajardo Ford, puerto rico) and I was informed that the VIN number was not included in the safety recall. Dealer didn't repair the door. I attempted contacting Ford customer service on two occasions but have not received any response from them.
While driving my 2012 Ford Fiesta, with my child in the front seat, the door latch failed and the door swung open. I tried closing it, but it would not stay latched. I had to drive the rest of the way holding it shut and steering the car, luckily I was only a couple miles from home. I called my Ford dealer and then I called Fords recall department because I was told the current recall 15s16, NHTSA campaign: 15v246000, does not cover my VIN, even though my vehicle was built in that factory during the covered time period.
My vehicle was in my driveway and I opened the rear passenger door to remove something from my backseat. When I shut the door, it popped back open and would not stay closed. After taking the car to a Ford dealership, I was told it was the door latch and since it had been recalled and replaced previously, it would be free. Today I took my car to have the repair done and was given an estimate of $233 + tax.
Ok when I gotten this car I took it to get repaired 4 times my door latches are broken so when I drive a door flys open without me even knowing I only had this car for a year now I had one accident because of my door unlocking tryin to hold it close so I can pull over and I gotten it fixed before for one door now I have another door or the right side causing the same problems also when I press on my gas it stops when I'm not even in park and that also caues a problem.
Passenger side front door will not shut due to faulty latch mechanism. Vehicle was not driven due to this safety issue until repaired.
This vehicle has had the door latch quit working on 3 of 4 doors. Last year the drivers side door latch released while it was being driven on the highway. This past week the latch on the left passenger door quit working. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealership and I also called Ford motor company and they stated this VIN isn't currently listed as part of their door latch recall. This vehicle was built in the cuautitln assembly plant which according to Ford media center is the plant responsible for faulty door latches.
Door latch has become weak and it is not properly working causing the door to swing open and never shutting.
I traded my cube for Fiesta. There are two recalls I found the attached in the glove compartment. I took it to sloan Ford. They told me if it doesn't meet the specifications of a recall they won't do the repair work. Tues they provided a shuttle service. I need the car to work. The car won't kick in from stop to start. It's a concern to me at a stop light. The window cover in passenger side dog chewed on the handle won't get replaced. Also the window switch on front passender won't close. I'm concerned, I want to keep the car, but I can't have it stall out on me. I was told by the dealership they'd give free repair and loaner car. I got it from roberts Honda in downingtown, and have an appointment sloan Ford. It looks like prior owner had it looked at didn't bring it in for the repair. I also wasn't given a second key to the car. Kindly help. It needs to kick in. . There's a transmission shutter and clutch repair job. I want to be safe in the car. Service advisor sounded like he didn't want to do the work. I need the information on the warranty 3yr/36000 can't get it. If I'm at a light and starting up, it feels like a machine gun rifle. . . . The cat light came on one time on dash too. The strink to hold up the trunk lift was given with duct tape on it.
Door latch stopped working entirely while car was in park with no harsh handling of the door whatsoever. Door was being closed gently when it bounced back which is when we realized that it was not latching or closing at all. Car was in park and turned off. I believe the door latch was faulty, and there might be mechanics that are not working for the latch.
While driving my car up an inclined the car idle up so loud and did not allow me to accelerate once the car was level to get out of traffic. I been having problem with this car for so long. The manager told me that's the way the car drive it new. I kept talking this car back like every month something else would happen. The latch on the driver side, water leak on the passengers side, water leak in the trunk were it started to mold. Trunk latch hard to open. Took it to Ford in joliet not helpful at all. They test drove the car and said it's fine. Then all of a sudden a recall on the transmission life time warranty. I'm here again to get the trunk fixed water still gets in it. The key remote is not working.
Left rear door latch failed, allowing the door to open while the vehicle was being operated. The latch mechanism is inoperative now and the door must be held closed using cargo straps through the open window and over the roof and back through the passenger side window frame. I contacted Ford about this issue advising them that the 2012 Fiesta has a recall regarding this issue but was told by service advisor gary davis @ north central Ford 972-231-3491 that the existing recall does not apply to our vehicle and that I should come in to get an estimate for repairing the vehicle.
While operating the vehicle on 04/18/2017, the rear passenger door of the vehicle inadvertently opened while the vehicle was in motion. I received safety recall notice 15s16 on January 2016 regarding this issue that stated: "it may be possible for the pawl spring tab inside one or more of the side door latches in the vehicle to break, preventing the door from latching". This is exactly what occurred to me today on 04/18. Shortly after receiving the recall notice, I contacted a Ford dealership in the kansas city metro area where I was living and they stated that parts were so back ordered and "to try again in a few months". As life moved on, I put this on the backburner and relocated to omaha, ne for a new job. Today I brought the vehicle in regarding this concern and they appear to be replacing the failure of the latching mechanism, but did not have parts in stock and did not offer a rental vehicle while my vehicle was under repair as the warranty notice implies. I share this complaint because I am highly concerned for the safety of others that do not resolve this problem. I was fortunate enough that the failure of my door latch today did not injure another motorist or cause injury, but I can guarantee you it made me question the reliability and safety of my vehicle which in which I thought I could place my trust. If anyone else is affected by this multi-million vehicle recall, please do not delay or allow Ford dealerships to stall on repairing this critical failure that could lead to serious safety concerns.
This is the second door latch I have had to replace in two years. I had all of the door latches replaced in Sep 2015 according to the recall from Ford. The front passenger door latch failed to latch again on 4/8/2017. The dealer and Ford are claiming there is no recall for this latch and I will need to pay for the new latch replacement. They stated that I have already had the recall taken care and they repaired the door latch, the second time it has broken I am required to pay for the parts and labor. The vehicle was stationary and in the driveway when the door latch problem occurred. I had to tie the door shut and take it to the dealer.
My mother borrowed my car and went to pick up pet food about 15 minutes away from our home. She came out of pet store and opened rear passenger side door, loaded the items then went to close door. My mother said the door just banged back open. She tried several attempts to close the door. She called me in a panic, stating the my car door wouldn't close. I told her to go into the dollar tree and get some rope or bungee cord. She called me back, and was still in distress that she couldn't drive the car home. I asked her why,she said that the interior lights stayed on,and she wouldn't be able to see. It was 8:30 at night on January 11th,2017. I have had several people look at the door, and said that it looks like the spring came out. I've been driving around with the door ratchet strapped since the incident happened. I'm not in a position to fix the door,as I am unemployed. I have had this vehicle for 3years now,and I've had nothing but problems with it. Fan belt, transmission, tires and now door. The cuar was stationary and has had no accidents.
I have a 2012 Ford Fiesta and today I was driving with my 3 year old granddaughter in her car seat in passenger side rear seat,I went around a curve and her door flew open,I am aware of the Ford recall and it is going to the dealer tomorrow, the issue to me is the latch is plastic and that's causing the paw spring to wear out and break. This could have been bad,the dealer said they would replace that door latch, what about the other 3 doors they have to be faulty too. I do not trust this car anymore since I seen that the latches are plastic. I think you need to take a closer look at this problem before somebody is killed with doors flying open.
Early Nov. While the car was parked, and while entering the front right passenger door the latch stuck so the door would not close. This is the third time this has happened. All were on different doors. The previous two times were the doors on the drivers side. We immediately took the car to the grand prairie Ford for repairs. The service rep told us that they would only repair any doors that were non-operational. Our response was that this was the third time we had to put the car in the shop for the same repair, and the recall notice said that all four doors would be repaired. We were then told that the dealership would have to order parts and it should take about two weeks. It is now two and one half months later. The car is still in the shop waiting on parts to come in. Several times we have been given dates the parts would arrive only to be told a new date when this does not occur.
My car door opened while I was driving in a parking lot. I cannot close or lock this door.
My door will not shut and is currently duct taped shut. I don't feel safe driving my car because Ford says that my doors may open while you are driving. There is a notice of a recall out but, I can't get my door fixed because Ford doesn't have the parts. However, I was still never offered a rental or any other form of help on this matter from Ford. I spoke to them on the phone and emailed them and my car is at their service center right now and I have not been offered a solution. Also, I have issues with my transmission. I drive a manual and when I go to back out of a parking spot, etc. It will often grind. I have to try several times to get it into either first gear and reverse. Last October (2014), there was a service bulletin so Ford rebuilt my transmission. This did not resolve the issues though so in may of 2015 I finally emailed Ford but I never got a response. Now, with my door not shutting I thought it was the perfect time to take care of all of these issues. My car is at the service center now, but Ford has said they don't see an issue with the transmission. It doesn't grind every time I put it into first but it happens at least once a week and when I am at a stop light it can be difficult to get it into first gear. This makes me really nervous to turn left in front of on coming traffic.
The right rear door latch quit latching. No abuse, rarely used. I see that this is a common problem with Fiestas but my VIN number is not included in the safety recall. Since this problem is obviously affecting other vins not on the recall list I would hope that Ford may concider expanding that list,,, before I have to pay for it myself. Sincerely, kevin macy.
While exiting the vehicle the front right door would not latch , this situation made the car unsafe to drive, I had the vehicle towed to the dealer and at that time Ford said that the part is not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the rear driver side door would not close and remain shut. The vehicle was taken to DE paula Ford (1101 central Ave, albany, NY) and the door latch was replaced. The failure was remedied, but the same failure recently occurred on the front driver side door. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v246000(structure). The contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recalls. The failure mileage was 40,000.
The door latch will not latch leaving my passenger door unable to stay closed. Called Ford customer service and they will not tell me if they have parts or when those parts would be available. Also told me this recall is not until the middle of July so I would have to pay for the repairs and then ask them for reimbursement when recall goes into effect. Ford would not answer any question as to what I should do with a car that the passenger door will not stay shut and would only tell me to take it to a dealer who also was confused as to why Ford was telling me to talk to my dealer about my questions.
Several recalls for different parts have been issued since the purchase of this car. The transmission does not engage all the time causing the car to jerk and move forward quickly without notice and cause damage to the car. Go up hills the transmission has cut out before and then shot forward as previously described. Door latches can and will come open allowing for the door to open while the car is in motion. This vehicle is not safe and now I am stuck with it.
Rear driver side door fails to latch. First occurrence was 3/27/2015 in the driveway after returning home. The door properly latched about 15 minutes prior to the initial incident and will not latch at all now.
I was driving in my vehicle with my nephew in the back seat. I was going between 45-50 mph around a curve and the rear passenger door where my nephew was sitting flew open. I had to pull the car over to try to shut the door. It would not stay closed after that. My sister who was in the front seat had to move to the back to keep the door shut so I could get home. Now I have a tie down across my entire back seat to keep the door from swinging open while driving. And to hold it shut so that I can lock my car. Because my warranty is up Ford will not cover this defective part and gave me an estimate of 400-500 dollars.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the front passenger's side door opened independently. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the and road. The door failed to close in a secured position. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed that the front door latch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the transmission clutch was replaced previously on three separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
Got my 3yr old child out of the passenger rear door. Went to close the door and walked away. As I turned it didnt sound right as the door shut. So I tried to close it again. The door latch failed to close the door. So now I am unable to keep the door shut. I was forced to get a rope and tie the door to the other rear door to keep it shut so my interior lights shut off and not kill my battery and to turn the door alarm off.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the rear driver door un-latched. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the rear driver door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,276.
