Electric steering assist spontaneously fails while vehicle is in motion. Steering fault message displays on dash screen. Vehicle becomes difficult to steer until engine is turned off and turned on again.
Car has approx 35k miles. Car drove fine to location. Upon starting car to leave location, there was no power steering. Shutting off ignition and restarting resolved the issue, however, leaves concerns regarding the reliability of the power steering as no immediate cause could be determined by mechanic.
Intermittently and without warning, the traction control light will come on in dry and mild conditions. This has occurred while the car is in motion and while it is stopped, all in city traffic. This will often lead to a warning saying "hill start assist not available" and, occasionally, the power steering will stop working. On the three occasions the power steering has stopped working in the past 5 weeks, once was while moving straight and twice were while turning, making it very difficult to complete the turn. We have taken the car to the dealer for the traction control light issue 4 times now. The first 2 trips, the car was under warranty but the last 2 have been after the warranty expired. The first 2 trips we were told that the problem could not be recreated and therefore could not be fixed. On the third trip the dealer was able to see the light and pull a code. They replaced the hydraulic control module and reprogrammed the computer, but the problem occurred again the next morning.
Steering wheel became stuck while driving. Power steering alarm turned on. Then it was very difficult to steer the car. I bring the car to the dealer for service. Parts of the power steering system were replaced. But my life was at risk while driving with a stuck steering wheel.
On September 30, 2014 , driving on residential road at 40 mph , with no prior warning all vehicle console lights lid up and dash console showed an error "immobilizer failure". Steering and brakes began to worsen making the vehicle inoperable. This while crossing a busy intersection in which thankfully the light was turned in my favor . This was very scary and could have lead to a tragic event . Fortunately I did not panic and was able to use vehicle momentum to drive into a plaza driveway . At this moment I feel that this vehicle is dangerous and should not be on the road. I strongly urge that there be an investigation opened immediately . Your attention to this matter is with great urgency. Regards.
Vehicle power steering shuts off during low speed (15mph) right hand turn. Traction control light illuminates at the same time. Recycling ignition resets steering and traction control light. Vehicle is brand new with only 40 miles. Have experienced two incidents within last 10 miles.
Following a line of cars down a canyon road at 50 mph. Sport mode steering turned off. Car drifted to right side of road. Turned wheel slightly to the left, but car kept drifting right. Right side wheels then were on gravel shoulder. Turned steering wheel to the left again. Car turned 30 degrees to the right and went airborn off the road and down into the canyon, landing flat on a pile of boulders, bounced off and became airborn again, finally stopping in a tangle of thick brush. Underside of car totally smashed. Car was a total wreak. Don't know why this happened. Felt like steering linkage suddenly disconnected.
