The contact stated while his girlfriend was driving at 45 mph with him in the front passenger seat, another vehicle suddenly crossed in front of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to crashed into the rear end of the other vehicle. The front driver's side air bag and the passengers' side air bags failed to deploy. The driver knee air bag deployed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's girlfriend sustained neck injuries and leg injuries and was transported to the hospital by emergency units. The contact sustained soreness on the right knee and stomach. The contact sought medical assistance the next day. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
