general problems of the 2007 Ford Five Hundred

After driving half-hour in high-way southward on I-45 in the morning. The car cannot be accelerate at around 40mph when I ramp up to 288, and the auto-lock light turned red. Seconds later, it recovered back. 2 minutes later, it happened again . And again . So I parked it . ~8-hours later, I started it and the auto-lock light red again. Seconds later, the engine stopped when I back the car. I stepped on gas-pedal when I tried 3rd time, and the car moved and the auto-lock light kept red. 10-minuts later, when I drive on 288-south at ~60mph, both of the repair light and engine light turned yellow and the auto-lock light off, seconds later, the repair light off. The engine light kept on. So I get down the highway, cannot accelerate car with gas-pedal on and cannot turn sterring wheel, the car slow down and stopped by itself. 5-minutes later, I started it again with engine light on with yellow, the car moved and 10 minutes later, I parked it home.

Vehicle surges when you let off the brake. This started shortly after we purchased the car a couple years ago. They either serviced or replaced the throttle body and that worked for about 6 months or so. Now the car shakes really bad anytime we have to stop and have to keep foot on the brake really hard, sometimes the car dies during this too as well as going from reverse to drive. As soon as you let off the brake the car accelerates, can make it up to almost 40 mph without even touching the gas. It runs horribly in the heat too. Any temp over 70 it jerks into 2 or 3rd gear hard when stopping and going.

When placing the car in reverse or drives it revs. In order to avoid an accident I have to ensure that my feet are on the brakes at all times! there have been instances where I've almost hit the car in front me!.

Engine mounts , anti torque mounts , broke or loose. Engine shifts a good 12 inches towards firewall. Vehicle has 45000 miles, and is 5 years old.

I don't know if this belongs in engine or fuel/propulsion system. There was no mention of �gas peddle� in either. The date of 07/17/2013 is approximate. It may have been between 2013 - 2015. I am not sure of the exact dates. It was when I was going to a pain specialist in buffalo after my rear-end accident in my previous car in July 2012. Location - I-190 & NY-198 buffalo, NY 14207 42. 930405, -78. 899552 merge ramp from the NY-198 to the I-190 north. 2007 Ford Five Hundred the problem: the gas peddle stuck when I had to do a fast acceleration / I floored it. I had to put the car in neutral and press the gas peddle a couple times to get it unstuck. I had it in to the Ford dealer where I bought it and they fixed or cleaned something. The Ford dealer said that it would cost about $400. 00 to replace the component if this didn't work. It happened again when I did another fast acceleration. I was able again to get it unstuck. I have not had the occasion to do a fast acceleration since. I don't run it fast if I can help it.

My 2007 Ford Five Hundred is acting up. When you put it in reverse or drive it revs up and jumps. I have to make sure I have my foot firmly on the brake so it doesn't cause a serious accident. Now it is starting to rev up and jump when im sitting at a stop sign. This past Friday I was sitting at a stop sign and it revved up and jumped and almost caused me to rearend a car in front of me. Is there a recall on this problem. I really need this fixed before it gets worse and it kills me or I kill someone else. When you are sitting with the car in gear with the air conditioner off the rpm needle will move without giving it any gas. It should not do this. Please help me and let me know if their is a recall on something that could cause this problem.

My husband had an accident in a store parking lot. He miscalculated the length of an narrow island that had a curbing around it. He cut the corner and drove over the curb and down the other side of the other curb. Besides the rear fender damage, more damage was discovered at the state inspection. The roll restrictor was torn. I was told that this part keeps the engine from "rolling" forward or backward. It is part of the engine mount system and is a safety issue. It must be replaced or the car fails the PA state inspection. This repair and inspections cost me over $500. I believe the roll restrictor was damaged in the sudden impact of the curb. I would like to take that issue to the insurance company but I have no proof. How common is the failure of this part? is it part of the PA state inspection requirements?.

Vehicle lurches or jumps when shifted into gear. The brakes need to be held down firmly otherwise the car has a chance to smash into anything that may be in front or behind you when shifting into drive or reverse. Have come close to hitting pedestrians and stopped vehicles at stop signs and traffic lights. This condition seems to be getting worse and Ford doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. Have seen numerous complaints on line saying the same thing. Should someone be killed or an accident occur before this problem is addressed? I hope not.

Car accelerates when air conditioning is on (more so when turning wheel) whether in drive or reverse. Already had accident in reverse. Noted several complains about this from owners on google. Almost had another accident in jack in the box drive thru where car accelerated unexpectedly. Missed car in front of me by inches. Had foot on brake, car was in drive but not moving when this happen. When after starting car and gear shift put into either drive or reverse the engine will surge causing car to lunge. If not aware of issue and have foot on brake would hit what ever in the way of car. The same thing happens when pulling into or out of parking space. I had my car fixed at a Ford dealer and then contacted Ford motor about the problem and they don't seem to take the issue seriously. According to my Ford dealer the problem is in the throttle body. I went out on the internet and found other Ford 500 owners reporting the same thing. The big problem is that it doesn't happen all of the time. The main reason for this compliant is that Ford doesn't want to acknowledge they have a problem.

When car was placed in gear throttle surged causing car to jump while foot still on the brake. , also surges when pulling slowly into parking place.

The vehicle has unintended acceleration issues. There was an investigation by the nhsta but nothing came of it. The car still accelerates on its own when I pull into parking spaces or leaving parking spaces. I have to keep my foot on or by the brake pedal as to not hit other cars or people. Having the air conditioning on seems to worsen this problem substantially. It is completely random and I know I'm not the only person that has experienced this issue. Please reopen your investigation and make sure you have both the ac on and off. It's mainly when it is on, but still completely random. I don't know how people and property haven't been injured or damaged as a direct result of this well known issue.

I put my car in reverse to back into a parking space and the car engine accelerate as if it I was on the gas pedal going 50, except I was on the brake. If I am sitting at a red light the car engine accelerate I noticed that the rpm needle will go up to 3 sometime 4 if I am not careful to keep control of the car it will take off so I have to be careful to keep my foot on the brakes.

At a stoplight with the brake on the engine revved up and the car jumped forward about 20 feet before I could stop it. At the next light the same thing happened. At my final destination approximately 2 miles away my son (who was with me the whole time = I was taking him back to college) told me to let the car run to see if it would do it again. With the car in drive and my foot on the brake (hard) it revved up 2 more times in less than 2 minutes to at least 1500 rpm and was very difficult to hold back. I took it in to the dealer the next day and they replaced the throttle body at a cost of $800. After calling Ford and reporting the situation they refused to document this or make a case number until I told them I knew there was a technical bulletin on this according to the dealer. They gave me a case number 1401813351 but were rude to me and could not answer if the replacement part addressed the issue and has been fixed. I do not know if it will happen in the next mile, next 100,000 miles, or never again if they will not say if replacement parts have corrected a problem. If a car or pedestrian were in front of me when this happened I would have had an accident without doubt. This car has a safety problem and the incident happened on Nov. 27, 2011.

The car will surge when you put it in gear. Does it in drive and reverse. I have to keep my foot on the brake until I am away from a car or building as it will jump into them. I never know when its going to do it. I estimated when it started and is still doing it.

The car surges while sitting at a stop light or stop sign also while going slow backing out of garage or driving slow in a parking lot. When I shift from a stopped position, either into drive or reverse, the car lunges or jumps forward. It makes it very difficult to control. The dealer knows about the problem and says that Ford knows about the problem, but refuses to fix it unless a god awful amount of money is paid in repair costs. Then he says it may happen again!.

Ford Five Hundred started lurching or lunging when placed in gear. From a parked position. . The car lurched back into the wall of the carport crushing the back bumper. On another occasion the car lurched when the door was open and knocked into the carport post. Very dangerous.

When backing out of a parking space, car will lunge back a few feet. Just last week, I was backing out of a parking space at a store and it lunged five times before I took it out of reverse and put it into drive. It lunged again forward and then I was able to drive it home. If my foot is not on the brake, the car will continue to lunge unless it is stopped either by braking or hitting something. When in a drive-thru, with foot on the brake, when I release the brake the car will lunge forward. After researching the problem, people have stated it is a problem with the throttle and it could cost 500. 00 + dollars to repair. It is a factory mistake that Ford is not taking responsibility for. I was advised to file a complaint with NHTSA just in case an accident occurs because of this problem. We are taking the car in to see if we can afford the repair on our own next week. If it is the throttle and does cost as much as others have claimed, we will not be able to afford the repair.

At low speeds, usually while easing into my garage, or while backing out, the engine of my 2007 Ford 500 surges causing the vehicle to lurch. I took the car to my dealer who diagnosed the problem as "internal failure with throttle body assembly" and recommended replacement for an estimated cost of more than $800. I paid $97. 20 to have the problem identified. It seems this is a basic safety issue that the manufacturer should fix if it is happening regularly. I am looking for information to go back to the dealer and ask that they fix it without charge.

I had just driven to my brother's house in wv. My wife and I got out of the car and went inside. About 15 minutes later my brother saw smoke in the window and saw that my car was on fire. We all went outside and while they called the fire department I tried to put the fire out with a hose. I could only knock it down some to keep it from spreading but when the fire dept got they put it out.
