The car is surging and feels like it is about to fall apart the car has low miles and the engine feels like the transmission is slipping but was told that this is a common problem with the Ford 500 I see there is a extended warranty but I just recently purchased this car and seems like the warranty expired and I see Ford is aware of this and refuses to fix this issue which is a hazardous condition and I feel like that im going to have to get a lawyer to get anything done because Ford is refusing to fix this issue with these cars and its very dangerous driving the car makes a loud knock and the engine drops back in and its breaking the motor mounts.
I have researched online and a lot of people with my same car are having the same problem. While driving my whole dash board goes out . I can no longer see how fast I'm going. Everything goes to 0 the gas goes to e and my reverse lights stay on until the dash board comes back up. If and when it comes back on my check engine light will be on. This has been happening every since I purchased the car 3years ago on and off.
Gearing into reverse is heavy shifting transmission O2 sensor bank 1 need replacing.
I took my battery out my 2005 Ford Five Hundred and the fail safe engine mode wrench light came on and it wont go off this need to be recall they say the compter shut down and I have to get it reseted I was driving the vehicle and it almost hit someone when it jurk to the front and I almost hit a vehicle backing up.
Throttle body is defective due to build up within the throttle body's valve causing it to stick open or stay closed during reverse and forward driving. This in return causes a surge where at any unsuspecting moment the vehicle wood attempt to drive either in reverse or forward on its own regardless you physically pressing the brakes or the gas pedal. This is an obvious problem wiz 2005 2006 and 2007 Ford 500 and some models other than the 500 such as Ford freestyle Ford montego. This is a very dangerous issue and if not already will cause bodily injury or death. In my particular incident my vehicle have surged on a bypass causing me to almost rear end a large truck at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. There had also been countless incidents of my vehicle reverting into safe mode where my car I had slowed from 70 to 75 miles per hour down to 20 miles per hour within seconds. Both incidents have happened stationary in motion on city streets on highways and while turning. I was told the throttle body's electrical components are faulty and I was to pay $1,000 for a replacement part and installation.
Leaving a grocer at 13:15 on 9/7/2015 started to back out of parking spot when auto suddenly accelerated backward, across the aisle and slammed into parked vehicle with impact sending that auto into a 3rd. Damages to both vehicles. When I went to pull into my original slot to deal with situation, as soon as I removed foot from brake, auto lunged forward at high rate of speed, jumped a 6" landscape curb and plowed into the front end of a Cadillac srx causing major damage to that vehicle, still unk total damage to mine. It was a very hot day and the ac was running. No other vehicles were occupied other than mine, and I was sole occupant. My airbag did not deploy and passenger's was not turned on. I did receive a significant bruise on my sternum from the shoulder component of my seat belt. My foot was not on the accelerator for either "lunge". Crashes were witnessed and peoria az police did respond with 2 units. Officers did take information, but when I inquired about incident # for my records officer responded that there would be no report and no citations as it occurred on private property. My insurance carrier was contacted from site, but being a holiday, I was not able to speak with adjuster at that time. Knowing that it was not my actions that caused this incident, I checked the next day and discovered that this identical situation had been under investigation with NHTSA at the time I purchased the car on or about 11/16/12 at which a service program to retify was in effect. With my incident though, major damage occurred. Neither at the time of purchase, nor throughout the investigation & tenure of my ownership (current) was I notified of the known safety problem nor it's program to mitigate. Attached aerial photo shows back to back dimension to first impact and back to front dimension of 2nd. I was parked in position of white vehicle.
Only had the car for five months driving doen the street the check engine light came out car stopped in the middle of the street with my children in it and wouldn't start up. . Worst car ive ever bought second major incident that has happend since I got yhe car. It should be a recall major safety violation.
I was approaching a red light and as I lifted my foot off the brake pedal. . . . . . . . . . . . . . The car accelerated abruptly and I was unable to stop causing me to pass red light, almost striking an oncoming vehicle that was making a left hand turn and driving onto sidewalk. Fortunately no one was hurt and an accident was avoided due to my quick response. The vehicle has accelerated abruptly on several other occasions. I was parked in a publics parking lot when I put my vehicle in reverse the vehicle once again accelerated almost hitting parked vehicle behind me. I was advised the throttle sensor was defective on 2005 & 2006 Ford Five Hundred models and no recall yet! this defect causes vehicle to accelerate abruptly (even when parked) or not accelerate at all! there have been many reports regarding this issue and nothing has been done about it. When a life is lost or someone is severely injured. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Is that when some action will be taken? according to reports even if the part gets replaced it does not guarantee it will not go bad again. Repairs have been known to cost between $450. 00 to $750. 00.
My Ford Five Hundred throttle just shuts down, with no warning at all. I am afraid to drive it because it may shut down in traffic and some get seriously hurt. I have searched the internet and found more complaints same as mine. The problem is with a throttle body malfunction. Some thing should done befor someone is killed!.
My throttle body went completely out at 99481 miles. I paid approx. $800 for the repair/replacement. Ford motor company reimbursed for the service on 12/11/2012 after so many complaints had been made about the throttle body in this model that they were paying for previous services for any repairs/replacements made for this part. I believe the replacement part used was also defective, and made mention of my concern to my Ford dealership at the time. They agreed that there was no guarantee that I did not receive a defective replacement part as the new part they were using a year later was different. I have had my replacement throttle body cleaned and re-programmed several times (at least twice a year since the replacement). Ford motor company will do nothing now that I have been told I need a new throttle body which is about an $800 repair. Ford motor company needs to do something to make those of us, who received a faulty or defective replacement part, us whole. I hope that others will make it known if they have had a defective replacement throttle body.
When backing out of a parking space, car will lunge back a few feet. Just last week, I was backing out of a parking space at a store and it lunged five times before I took it out of reverse and put it into drive. It lunged again forward and then I was able to drive it home. If my foot is not on the brake, the car will continue to lunge unless it is stopped either by braking or hitting something. When in a drive-thru, with foot on the brake, when I release the brake the car will lunge forward. After researching the problem, people have stated it is a problem with the throttle and it could cost 500. 00 + dollars to repair. It is a factory mistake that Ford is not taking responsibility for. I was advised to file a complaint with NHTSA just in case an accident occurs because of this problem. We are taking the car in to see if we can afford the repair on our own next week. If it is the throttle and does cost as much as others have claimed, we will not be able to afford the repair.
My car started lunging forward and dying when I was either idle or when I stopped and started up again. The throttle light and engine light came on. Sometimes when you would turn the ignition off and then restart the throttle light would go off. I have noticed some difference in fuel mileage. If I don't have my foot on the brake and it starts forward sometimes it would lunge, but not all the time. I have taken it to get the computer flashed by a goodyear place in north little rock, ar. It has occurred several times more since they flashed it. That was about three weeks ago. The date now is sept. 20. I wanted to report it, because with the lunging in heavy traffic, I am afraid that I will rear end someone all because of the lunging, which is unexpected. On Jan 8, 2009, I had traveled approximately 1050 miles from oklahoma to ohio. While in ohio, 6 inches of snow had fallen, and the roads were slick with snow and ice. In preparing for my return trip on Jan 11, the traction control and abs warning lights came on, and there was a significant change in control and braking in the vehicle. Upon driving further, the transmission warning light came on, and the vehicle went into reverse with a huge "bang" sound and vibration. The vehicle's cvt transmission would not change gears in drive when the transmission light was illuminated. Upon turning the vehicle off, and back on, all lights would go off, and come back on within 5 minutes. After the 6th restart, the check engine light came on as well. The transmission light, after a few restarts, did not come back on. However, the abs, traction control and check engine lights stayed on for approximately 650 miles. After that time, all lights went out, but the rpms went from 2000 to 3500 on their own while the vehicle was in cruise control on a flat road. That corrected itself about 100 miles later. Upon taking the vehicle to a dealer on my return, they told me that since no lights were on, and the vehicle was now acting normally, they could not duplicate the problem. My factory warranty expires in 14 days, and I am not sure if I'll be able to duplicate the problem to the dealer by that time. The service department blamed the malfunction on the cold weather and the snow, but the awd vehicle with traction control was, to my knowledge, manufactured to deal with snow and cold weather. One does not need awd, traction control or abs during dry, warm days.
