Seat Belt problem #1

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the driver’s side seat belt unbuckled independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,400.

Seat Belt problem #2

The rear seat belts come unbuckled. I was driving and about to get on a highway, and my children told me their seat belts unbuckled, another time it happened while I was driving in town. There's been a few others times too. I have not taken my vehicle to a dealer to check it out. This vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. No lights came on when the seat belt unbuckled. It has been happening on and off for a few years.

Seat Belt problem #3

2nd row passenger side bucket seat seatbelt no longer latches. Car has less than 35,000 miles. Seat is no longer able to be occupied legally. My child in booster seat uses that seat belt and could have become unsecured while driving which would have put him at risk if there was an accident or would have had to brake quickly. Seatbelt has not been inspected by anyone at this time. No warning or symptoms of a problem. Problem started 4/10/2023.

Seat Belt problem #4

The driver side seatbelt begins to lock as you pull it down to click it into the buckle. While driving the seatbelt will also lock and continue to get tighter and tighter and suddenly release. It will continue to lock and then unlock while driving. This is happening with regular driving, and not when applying the brakes.

Seat Belt problem #5

The passenger side seat belt tightens on passenger while driving. It tightened on one passenger so tight; there became a need to cut the belt off! the second time it tightened on the passenger while driving, but did not tighten to the point of needing to cut the belt. When I took the vehicle to the dealership they didn’t seem to interested in the issue, however the service tech and the mechanical tech reportedly did drive the vehicle (saying the passenger pulled on the seat belt and it was working properly). However the tension tightens without notice on the passenger side front seat and today the alarm for no seatbelt didn’t even come on when the passenger was unbuckled when the vehicle was driven!!.

Seat Belt problem #6

In September, the drivers side second row seatbelt broke, the male connection. I called our local dealership and they told me it would cost approximately $750 to replace. We started using the third row instead. Just today, the female connection on the passenger side second row seat broke. Ford is telling me they won't replace the seatbelts. I cannot afford to replace them. And I don't think such an essential safety feature should be left to us for a vehicle less than 10 years old. Do I drive with my children unsecured and just have our family sue Ford when we are all dead?.

Seat Belt problem #7

The locking mechinism has broken twice on the rear passanger seatbelt.

Seat Belt problem #8

Bought used with 65,000 miles, at 75,000 miles passenger back door sensor went bad causing car to say "righ back door ajar" and the lights stay on, doors do not lock when driving, alarm goes off intermittently. Why has Ford not done something about this - clearly a problem. Also the 2nd row seat belts have been a nightmare. Kids always getting stuck - cna't unlatch them. One of the receptecles just fell apart - not safe! why hasn't Ford done something about this. I own 5 Ford vehicles and the older vehicles run great - no issues. Seems like from 2012 and newer there is nothing but problems. What happened to the quality and care from Ford?.

Seat Belt problem #9

The right side middle row seat belt continues to have problems. The middle row is always difficult to buckle by the kids and the right side doesn't even work.

Seat Belt problem #10

Have had multiple problems with the rear passenger seatbelts retracting to the point now where klaben Ford says the entire seatbelt needs to be replaced. It is a rear passenger airbag seatbelt.

Seat Belt problem #11

2nd row seat belts not working or broken. Driver side is not latching or retracting, so none can use that seat. Passenger side the buckle cover wont stay on, and it has some small sharp objects that can cut someone or my kids.

Seat Belt problem #12

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the rear driver and passenger side inflatable seat belts on the second row were damaged. The webbing of the seat belts was frayed, the inflatable seat belt cover popped out, and the rear driver's side inflatable seat belt did not retract, which made them unusable. The vehicle was taken to courtesy Ford breaux bridge (337-504-7340, located at 2022 rees st, breaux bridge, la 70517) where it was stated that there was no recall and that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failures were not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Seat Belt problem #13

The sensor on my passenger door has gone out, causing the car to believe the door is open even when it is not. There is also a consistent issue with one seatbelt, sometimes it will lock into place when not in use, and sometimes it will not allow me to buckle it.

Seat Belt problem #14

Well I was driving on the street and a light come up said power steering service after 10 seconds the steering wheel when super hard to turn and turn to the right side thank god I did not hit a car but I call to the dealer I tell them there was a recall for the steering gear rack and they said not for my car when this is happening and all Ford Flex 2013 the part cost $1300 brand new plus labor I don't know what to do and the seat belt is not working properly.

Seat Belt problem #15

Front passenger side belt buckle gets stuck. When the passenger tries to unbuckles the seat belt, it does not unbuckles and passenger gets stuck in car seat. Sometime it takes more then half an hour and multiple times tries to get it unlock. Frustrating. It's the manufacturer faulty buckle. I check and I even took it to dealer to get it check. They don't seem to find the root cause and said ot would cost me around $400 to replace. Not happy.

Seat Belt problem #16

The seatbelt buckle will not release the seat belt. Starts off with the release button sticking, after time the buckle button breaks and no longer is able to be used. The 3rd row buckle was first, now the driver's buckle is starting to stick.

Seat Belt problem #17

My child went to buckle herself in, and the plastic around the buckle broke in her hand, revealing frayed seat belt material. My child is 7 years old. They car was stationary I am the only owner and I have only owned the Flex since Jan of 2015. That was the driver side passenger seatbelt. The seat belt on the other side had been locking for about a year, but it pulled slowly was not an issue. I asked for it to be adjusted and was told the whole mechanism needed replacing. It had less than 61654 miles. That was what was on the car when I got it back. I was told that it was out of warranty and I would have to $700 to get them fixed. I called Ford and they acted like I was just asking for money. I am livid that my 3 year old car has seatbelt flaws and they are not taking care of it. If the plastic had not broken the frayed belt still posed a safety hazard for my child! how many people are driving around not knowing that they have frayed seatbelts? my car is 1,650 miles outside of the warranty. That they are not fixing it, is unacceptable.

Seat Belt problem #18

Takata recall - my wife was traveling on hwy 70 in texas towards vernon. She was traveling approximately 73mph and struck a deer. When she struck the deer the the airbags (both front airbags) didn't deploy and the seatbelts did not lock as designed. Based on my research of your site and the NHTSA guidelines on the deployment of airbags. . . I believe there is a problem. Anything being struck at that speed, should've deployed the airbags and my wife's application of the brakes at that speed should have locked the safety restraints. The vehicle sustained significant damage to the front end, to include engine compartment damage and the loss of both headlights operability.

Seat Belt problem #19

Ford has already recalled the fuel pump regulator module on certain vehicles and mine was not included. Fuel pump regulator module left mr and disabled chile stranded on highway. No help from Ford. Passenger door sensor out, lights won't go off inside cab until you reach 10 mph. Impossible to see to back up at night or to see out of vehicle to drive. Driver seat wont move forward or backward impossible to get it to move. 2nd row driver side seatbelt broken Ford wont repair.

Seat Belt problem #20

We have had problems with our backseats' seatbelts not working properly for at least two years. They constantly get stuck, don't click in, don't retract, and more recently, plastics parts fell off. We have brought the car to coconut point Ford in estero, FL numerous times complaining of seatbelt issues. Last week, they told us they needed to replace two rear seatbelt mechanisms (for $870. 06!). A day after the repair was done, we found three plastic parts to the seatbelts (see photo) on the seat. I am quite concerned that the seatbelts in the car are defective and will not protect us and our four children in the event of impact. This car is a 2013, and the seatbelts should not be breaking!!!!.

Seat Belt problem #21

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the seat belts were easy for other occupants to wrap in positions that could serious injury or death. The contact stated that the child occupants were able to wrap the seat belts around their waists and, after the pretensioner tightened, wrapped around the neck on one of the occupants and tightened too tight around the waist of the other. One of the seat belts had to be cut. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were not provided.

Seat Belt problem #22

Door latch assembly defective. Doors will not lock when engine is running. Results in constant dinging of door ajar alarm and dome lights on. Seat belts become unbuckled spontaneously in middle bench seat while in motion. Have had to replace two of them. Very dangerous situation for our kids.

Seat Belt problem #23

The driver's side seatbelt retractor is not releasing the belt when trying to buckle in prior to departing on a trip. This happens multiple times per day. I am concerned the seatbelt will not function properly in the event of an accident. When contacting Ford about the problem I was advised that Ford does not provide a lifetime warranty on its seatbelts!.

Seat Belt problem #24

Passenger door sensor is telling the instrument panel that the door is open when it is shut. It will not automatically lock or allow me to lock the door when car is in motion (it pops back up). When motor is turned off the interior lights stay on. For a long time indicating that the door is not shut. The frequency of this problem has worsened over the past few months. And now the seatbelt latch doesnt work properly.

Seat Belt problem #25

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact stated that all of the second row seat belts failed to retract, latch, and unlatch. The vehicle was taken to perry Ford of poway (12740 poway rd, poway, CA 92064, (858) 748-1400), but was not diagnosed. The seat belts were replaced five times; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. In addition, the second row driver's side seat belt jammed and unjammed independently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

Seat Belt problem #26

The drivers side seat belt just locked up and will not come back out, took it to the dealer and they want 623. 00 to replace it are you kidding me ?? paid 19,000 for the car less then a year ago so I try to google this problem and it says if I try to fix it myself the airbags could be set off really ?? I guess I'll just have to listen to the annoying ding ding ding every 2 mins while driving no biggy thanks Ford there should be a recall on the seltbelts.

Seat Belt problem #27

2010 Ford Flex second row passenger center seat belt retractor stuck. Child released stuck seat belt, lowed center seat which is now also in a stuck position. No way to get to retractor or raise seat.

Seat Belt problem #28

Got in my car and when I started the vehicle the air bag light along with the traction control indicator light came on, took it to a dealer to see what the issue was and was told it is the restaint control module and to replace it will cost 900. 00. This is obviously a faulty part and should be covered as it directly controls the sir bags and the seat belts. So because I do not have 900. 00 laying around I g=have to hope I am not in a collision until I can come up with the ridiculous amount of money to replace a plug in module that costs less than 100. 00 to manufacture.

Seat Belt problem #29

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact was driving 20 mph when another vehicle crashed into the passenger¿s side of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain the contact, who was driving at the time of the incident. The contact was thrown under the steering wheel and sustained injuries to the ribs as a result. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a salvage yard. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000. The VIN was not available.

Seat Belt problem #30

I have owned my vehicle since March 2013 and have had it in the process multiple times since - sync issues, dead battery and three seatbelt replacements. My vehicle has rear airbag seatbelts supposedly for safety. Instead, my kids have been forced into unsafe situations because the belts are so poorly designed as soon as the black plastic covering the belt breaks, the entire seatbelt no longer functions. This is wholly unacceptable. I've approached Ford and springhill Ford in dundee without any satisfaction. Most recently I took my car into springhill Ford for an inspection and was told the issue is debris was in the buckles. The seatbelts are in the back seat where kids sit, there will be debris. Why is it acceptable that debris breaks the belts? I've paid far too much money (additional for this "safety" feature) to have a vehicle I can't trust.

Seat Belt problem #31

About a month after purchasing my vehicle, one of the inflatable seatbelt buckles cracked at the buckle casing. A few weeks later, the second seat belt buckle cracked. I had both buckles replaced and now I have a 3rd buckle crack. This makes the seatbelts unsafe and difficult to operate. Additionally, the top part of the seat belt (where the inflatable portion originates) becomes twisted and stuck at the top, and makes it impossible to pull out the seat belt and use it. This inflatable seatbelt feature is in the second row where my children sit. They are unable to use the seatbelts unassisted as they are heavy and difficult to manipulate even when they are working properly. This new feature is unsafe and makes it difficult to buckle each and every time they are used. I paid to have these special seatbelts included when I purchased the vehicle, and even chose this vehicle because of this new special feature. I would like to have them removed and to have regular standard seatbelts installed. Thank you.

Seat Belt problem #32

2009 Ford Flex. Second row passenger outboard shoulder safety restraint inoperable. No significant event occurred prior to the inop condition. Child entering second row pulled seat belt from d-ring. Belt cam out approximately 8 inches and stopped. The belt will not retract or pay out. This does not appear to be an alr lockout issue.
