Waiting at a light, drunk driver escaping police rear ends Ford Focus. Ford Focus hits fire truck. At no time did the airbags deploy.
I was driving my 2000 Ford Focus on caughdenoy road in clay, NY when the airbags deployed without any warning. The vehicle had not been hit or damaged in any way prior to the accident occuring. My windshield glass was shattered severely, leading to $335 in damage for the windshield alone. The airbag cover also did not come off properly, leading it to cause the damage to the windshield. There were slight injuries to my finger (a small cut) caused by the air bag, since I placed my hand in front of me in shock, and the car is currently undrivable due to its condition.
Driving down road after heavy rain, roads wet, rush hour traffic, sun came out glare off street. Car two cars ahead of me stopped suddenly to turn left. Car in front of me stopped. I saw the cars stop and thought I had enough room to stop, but streets were still wet and my tires locked going 25mph 2 car lengths behind car and I skidded into the car in front of me. Little to no damage down to rear bumper or my front bumper however, my airbags deployed shattering my window and locked my seat belt. Causing $800 in parts damage not including labor. First time having problem with airbag deployment, will have insurance repair my car/airbag/seat belt, window, causing my insurance to go up. I had chair positioned all the way back so the airbag did not hit me or protect me from injury (I'm lucky I did not have breathing problems from airbag smoke though) I was probably going 15mph when I hit the other vehicle, if the airbags did not go off I would have affordable insurance and an extra $1000 to my name. Be careful!!!!.
Inappropriate deployment of air bags at a low speed crash (less than 15 mph).
My daughter purchased a 2000 Ford Focus from a dealership in baton rouge la and did not realize that it was "reconstructed" the car was not marked as that nor was it marked or written anywhere that there were no airbags. The airbag compartments were stuffed with styrofoam and plastic bags so as to hide it. None of this was none to us until she had an accident. The title does say "reconstructed" however she was not aware of this until the accident and that is when we found out about the airbags as well. She has no idea what reconstructed even meant. This dealership spoke to me as well as our insurance company and never divulged any of this info, had they done so the sale would not have happened. If my daughter had been in a head on collision she would be dead as well as the passenger and my 3 week old grand-daughter. Every dealership that I have spoke to as well as checking into the law state that 1. The car should have been marked "reconstructed and 2. A separate disclosure for the airbags should have been made and none of this was done. Due to the fact that there were no airbags (which cost $3600 to replace because the entire dash has to be replaced) the insurance has totaled the vehicle and my daughter is basically left with nothing because of a fraudulent dealership. I have documentation and pictures to send as proof, please provide me with and e-mail.
I purchased a Ford Focus 2003, the car had 18,000 miles. I paid pacific coast Ford seven thousand dollars cash for the car, two day later I brought it back because the car just shut down while I was driving it. They ran tests told me nothing was wrong with the car. A couple of days later it was back for the same reason. Ultimately I had to bring it to lakewood transmission where after two attempts it was finally fixed it. I've had to get my ignition done two times and is ready for a third. Mallionn Ford fixed that for me. Now three weeks ago I roll into a lady doing 5-10 miles an hour. The police are called but since there is no injuries or damage to either parties the police say they won't come. No police report. Im driving home and my air bags deploy smashing out my windshield . A little ate you think. I cut one air bag out and continue to drive home. My car never shut down, the only thing that happened is the seat belt locked. I came home and took pic of the car not a scratch on my car one air bag still deployed the other you can see I cut it out and of coarse the smashed windshield . I contacted Ford they said it was an insurance problem not theirs, how could it be there was no police report my car malfunctioned.
I was making a left turn into a parking lot of a gas station, maybe going 5 mph. I ran over a curb with my front left tire. Immediately after hitting the curb, my driver side and passenger airbags deployed, causing my windshield to shatter. Through all of the smoke from the airbags, I looked down to see my arm had sustained a five inch burn. Shortly thereafter, I was taken to the emergency room at a local hospital to receive treatment for the burn. I then had to return to the same hospital for continuous treatment of the 2nd degree burn every other day for a whole week. The estimated damages to the car are $4500+. My insurance claims adjuster went to the body shop lot where the car was towed to after the airbag deployment this past week (on oct. 4, 2005). There is a charge, of course for the replacement of airbags and installation and a charge for a new windshield. That is the only damage the car received. There was no damage at all to the body, tires or frame from running over the curb. I was under the impression that it took more than 5 mph and running over a curb to make the airbags deploy.
I was turning left into a parking lot in my 2000 Ford Focus zts and the air bags deployed causing me to hit a curb. The car never came to a stop as does when normal air bag deployment occurs. In fact, I never even hit the airbags which is very lucky for me, after looking at other NHTSA complaints about air bag burns. When the passenger air bag deployed, it shattered the windshield. And when I went out to look at the car, I could see no damage other than that caused by the air bags. However, the towing company said there was damage around the tire which is the damage that occurred after the air bags deployed. When I contacted my dealer, they said that the air bags should've deployed if I hit a curb and came to a stop. But I did not come to a stop at all. In fact, I almost hit a parked vehicle because I could not see anything. I have contacted Ford and am expecting a call from their legal department but I am expecting them to blame everything on me and try to trick me into believing it was all my fault. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
I was in the passenger side of my car while my boyfriend was driving it. We were going north on a city road in mississauga ontario canada, when my boyfriend attempted to change lanes. He looked over his shoulder to see his blind spot, but hadn't realized the traffic in our current lane had slowed to a stop. He turned back around and realized the traffic had been halted, so he hit the brakes to slow the car. With not enough room, we hit the car in front of us at 5 kilometers per hour. From such a small nudge, the airbags deployed, smashing my windshield, as well as my face! I ended up with a slight concussion, type 2 whiplash, and minor burns to my face and arm. I followed up with physiotherapy, but my neck pain will never go away. We had the windshield replaced and the airbags reset. No damage was done to the front of the car, or the rear of the car of the other vehicle.
Consumer was having a problem with the directional signals. Consumer had this problem repaired at 45,000 miles. Currently, the vehicle at 76,000 miles the signals need to be replaced again. Consumer went to the dealer and manufacturer, and was told warranty expired, and consumer will have to pay out of pocket. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty clockspring.
A minor accident occured in a parking lot. The car was travelling at approx. 10 mph and hit the rear end of anothe car which was stationery. The airbags inflated and caused minor injury to the driver and extensive damage to the car. A new windscreen is needed, new airbags need to be installed and there may be more as yet undiagnosed damage. It is my contention that the airbags should not have inflated and that the manufacturer should by rights cover the costs of all damages to the car related to the deployment of the airbags.
The vehicle was involved in a head on collision. The dual airbags deployed, however due to impact with the air bags the driver died. Please provide additional information. Consumer state that the driver of the vehicle which was his mother in law had a heart condition which may have caused the driver to pass out and hunch over the steering wheel while driving. The driver was not wearing a seat belt. The driver veered into the opposite lane and ran into a parked car. An eye witness saw the driver hunched over the wheel prior to the crash. The air bags deployed into the chest of the driver resulting in blunt force chest injuries to the chest and subsequently died of internal bleeding. The driver did not have any broken bones. Cw.
Faulty airbag deployment in rear end collision at 10 mph. Driver and passenger airbags deployed, shattering windshield. Also, driver suffers 2nd and 3rd degree burns from airbag.
At the end of February I was involved in an accident due to the steering locking up my Ford has never ran the same since our local Ford dealer sent a mechanic out to do a report on my vehicle and nothing was ever resolved now I am stuck with this car that seems to be the next Ford joke. I have made several complaints since the accident and thanks to a possible steering knuckle problem in which was worked on previously to the accident it looks like Ford really should consider selling to a reputable company.
Inappropriate deployment of air bags-low speed bump causes airbags to deploy with massive damage to windshield and dashboard, no body damage.
The brakes have been looked at three time because of noise and it's been serviced several times. It's in service right now and has been there for two weeks. I don't know if they are working on it or if they are repairing other things or what. I haven't had heat throughout the coldest part of the winter. The seat belts don't work and the paint is peeling. The car has locked up not letting me start the engine twice, then just out of the blue it decided to start. I tried to turn in and the car dealer at Ford said he wouldn't touch it, didn't want it. We bought it Aug. 9 2000-Ford credit, simple interest 6. 5 --first payment September $456. 99 a month they say we owe too much to trade in ???this made no since. Now I know what's been going on. My husband has been out to sea usnavy for almost a year and I'm scared to drive it I'm a nervous wreck about this car and I don't know what to do. There has been is so many recalls on this car I don't know if they have fixed them or not.
Consumer states while driving about 15mph without warning the passenger air bag deployed. Causing the vehicle to have a accident. Ts.
Consumer stated that when they hit a curve at 5mph the air bag inadvertently deploys. Dealer notified ts.
This car has more recalls than I ever seen. The air bags deployed and gave me second degree burns. The brakes are shot and I have to pay for repairs even though I only have 29,940 miles. The keyless entry does not work even though its been fixed 2 times the ignition locked up and they change it the air conditioner leaks but they say its fine. Mr.
I sent a form in yesterday but did not have the VIN number. This car is in the shop right now. Mr.
Airbags deployed upon entering driveway, causing loss of control of vehicle resulting in accident. Nlm.
No description given.
My original complaint was for # 760238. There was a fire in that car. It is listed in your defect investigations as no fire, but--there was. It is terrible that a big corporation like Ford can not take responsibility for their actions on this matter.
Driver received second degree chemical burns to right arm and hand when the air bag deployed.
The airbags deployed when it bumped another car in my driveway. The windshield shattered when the bags deployed. Nlm.
During a 35 mph collision the airbags deployed and expelled gases/powder burned my right forearm. I'll have a chemical burn scar for the rest of my life.
Brakes and air bags failed.
Air bags falsely deployed in a less than 10mph collision, where there was no damage to either car.
No summary.
We were in a minor accident (rear-ended the car in front of us going about 25 mph, causing minimal damage to our right front bumper and none to their vehicle). Both airbags deployed causing the driver to receive second degree burns on her arms. On the passenger side, when the airbags deployed they smashed the windshield causing glass to implode into the vehicle, sending shards of glass toward the passengers.
I received severe 2nd degree burns to my left arm and hand when my steering wheel airbag deployed during a 35 mph collision in which my front right struck another vehicle turning in front of me in his rear right.
While attempting to back into a parking space the vehicle experienced sudden acceleration and hit a tree, there was no deployment of the air bags, the consumer sustained muscle strains. Nlm.
Faulty air bag deployment.
I bought the car in June of 2000 since this time the car has had a number of recalls on the car. I feel that the people that bought the 2000 model of this car should not be liable to pay the amount the contact was signed. Due to the fact that at the time the car was bought, the people that bought the car didn't know that most of the car's life would be in the shop being fixed. Also Ford knew that the Focus was prone to this happening.
While traveling at 10 mph consumer's vehicle hit another vehicle head on that was traveling at 50 mph. All airbags deployed; however, consumer sustained second degree burns on hands from airbag.
