3 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2007

I have a 2000 Ford Focus as does my ex both having the same year make and model of the Ford Focus! the problem in which we both have encountered is that 3 out of the 4 windows in our cars no longer work the windows at first would make a popping sound on some others just broke suddenly. Now when I say broke the motors to all the windows still work but the plastic clip that holds the window on the tracks. I recently took my car to have safety and admissions done and was not able to pass safety do to the fact that my drivers side window does not role down. What I have been forced to do is all three of the windows not working are either held up by tape or a door stop from the inside. Do to my windows having to be held in the manner they are I am constantly worried about my car being an easy target for a break in thus I don't have the comfort level I feel I should with my own vehicle. I haven't been able to fix the windows yet due to the high cost of nearly $200 per window. As I see it this would have to be a factory default seeing if it had only happened to one window maybe a fluke but three of my four also three of the four on my ex's vehicle too!!!.

4 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2006

: the contact stated while attempting to engage the power window control, the front driver side power window failed to open without warning. After initial inspection by the contact, the left rear passenger side power window failed to operate as well. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer, who determined the power windows were worn, and failed due to normal wear and tear. The manufacturer was not alerted.

5 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2006

My husband went to the store with daughter on a rainy day. The passenger side window came crashing down. In trying to fix the problem. We found that the 2 brackets that hold the window up has 2 plastic arms which had broken. I have contacted Ford about the issue and has said that at this point there is no recall. So they are going to do anything about it. I believe that a broken window in the snow belt is a safety issue. So I'm bringing this issue to you. Thank you r. Battles.

7 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2004

On both rear windows (electric), the plastic part at the bottom of the window has broken, making the window inoperable. The part secures the cables for raising and lowering the windows. In both cases, they broke simply from closing the door.

8 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2004

2000 Ford Focus. . . Purchased new in may 2000. . . . . Presently has 30,350 miles on it. I have had three of the four automatic windows break within the past ten months. The first on broke in June, possibly July 2003 (back left window), the next one to break was the back right window, and today , April 30, the front driver's side window is broken. Motor starts to grind and then stops responding to the on/off button and will not move the window. . . Which then slips all the way down into the door panel. Since my car is now out of warranty the dealership doesn't seem to think that having three different windows malfunction odd. I do not have young children that roll the windows up and down an unuseual number of times. . . In fact, I seldom roll down the back windows and only use the driver's window when going to the bank, or such things. I find it hard to believe with all of the recalls and other problems that this vehicle has had that this is not yet another one.

9 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2003

There was no power in the locks or the trunk release. After alot of diagnosses they replaced the right rear door actuator.

10 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2003

Power windows on 2000 Ford Focus fail often. I have heard of this problem on many other foci via the internet; but I have personally had 3 power windows fail (which is a safety concern, as windows fall down violent when they fail and remain down, cannot be rolled up and will not stay up if moved by hand leaving vehicle exposed to theft and the elements) in less than 3 years. . . Two of which have failed out of warranty. (warranty is up in one month time frame; but have driven vehicle 45,000 miles. ) consumers are seriously getting bitten by the cost of replacing Ford's faulty designed power window assemblies. Date of most recent incident given.

11 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2003

I have had problems with my wife's Ford focous windows the windows fall off track or just fall down and will not roll up for no reason. Out of 4 windows right now the drivers side is down into the door will not roll up and the passenger rear is also the same. The drivers rear window we are afraid to touch it because we have had to catch it from falling and now we have been using tape. That is 3 windows out of 4 giving us problems. We do not want to try the passenger side door window. We are having a though time and it seems abnormal for the windows to give us problems.

12 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2003

Driver's side power window would stick in the up or down position, causing a distraction to the consumer. Dealer had been notified.

13 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2003

3 of 4 window regulators are broken in my 2000 Ford Focus - 2 rear windows and drivers window no longer go up and down. The windows fall into the door. First failure occured 8/02, second 6/03, third 8/03. Windows are currently taped up, which is a safety hazard as the tape obscures my vision.

14 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2003

In January of this year, my power locks stoped working so I brought my car to the Ford shop where they replaced the latch assembly, handle, cable, and fuse in the back driver side door. $350 all together. The locks worked fine for about 2 months when they suddenly went out again. At that time I couldn't open the back door at all. Not even manually. I lived with it for a while but then the front passenger side door did the same thing so with only two doors opening, I brought it back to the Ford shop. They fixed the back door again for free since the previous work was still under warranty. The front door however needed the same as the back and the trunk button also needed to be replaced. The quote was for $475. I couldn't afford that at the time and decided to wait a little longer. In the meantime, the window on the same back door suddenly fell into the door and had to be held up with some folded paper until I could bring it in. The quote for the front door as well as the window was over $700. 00! they said the regulator broke so the window wouldn't stay up. Apparently that is in some other part of the door because they said it was nothing they did even though they had taken that door apart 2 previous times. Needless to say, I got the front door fixed and the window is still being held up with paper! I have had nothing but problems with my Focus and am anxious to trade it in. I am worried however, that something else will happen before I get the chance! the dealership even offered to let me trade in the car without fixing it- not for the payoff amount- if I got another Ford. At this point I am hessitant about purchasing another car from Ford. If anyone else is having similar problems with their Ford Focus, I encourage them to write a complaint.
