general problems of the 2000 Ford Focus

The contact owns 2000 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while having maintenance performed, the contact was made aware that the coil springs had fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician verified the failure and determined that both coil springs needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 112,604.

Vehicle was accelerating from a traffic stop on a four lane city street. At approximately 200 feet beyond stop the vehicle went out of control and began swerving into oncoming lanes. Breaks and steering were ineffectual. Because of slow speed, vehicle stopped withing twenty to forty feet. Initial inspection on site indicated the right front wheel separated from the lower suspension arm and drive shaft. Inspection by a qualified mechanic and insurance adjuster stated that rust had weakened suspension arm causing it to break approximately 5. 5 inches inward from the ball-joint attachment point. Because of the slow speed and light traffic there were no casualties or property damage. This vehicle while being fifteen years old has only seventy-six thousand mile and is garage kept.

The accident occurred on a hill at 10:30 p. M. I suddenly lost all power and control of the car near the crest of this hill. The car drifted back almost in a straight line. The brakes and engine weren't working as the car picked up speed in reverse under its own power I. E. , from the slope of the hill. It continued backward until coming to a sudden stop with severe impact. The car was stopped by a storm sewer culvert (ditch) to the side of the road. The left rear of the car and undercarriage were severely damaged I. E. , catalytic converter, muffler, rear axle, etc. The car was in excellent condition, was well maintained and had recently been inspected. The car was deemed a complete loss by the insurance company. I can provide more detailed information including a police report if requested.

The car veered to the left while I was driving down an interstate highway causing me to loose control. Injuries were relatively minor, fortunately. Car was deemed a total loss by insurance company after assessment of damage. No mechanical inspection took place but on visual inspection the front left tire was disconnected from the car.

While driving at 40mph and without warning the front left wheel disconnected from the vehicle. This caused a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified. Ph.

While driving the vehicle at 20mph the right front suspension collapse. Causing to pull out of the road. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information. Ts.

While traveling on a side street without prior warning the vehicle front suspension collaped and the right wheel broke . The dealership is aware of the problem. Mr.

While driving over 60mph vehicle will vibrate. Contacted dealer. Had wheel aligned, but problem still occurred.

While traveling 30mph on highway there is a jerking noise coming from underneath hood area.

Ongoing problem with vehicle commencing to wobble when it reaches 50 mph or more. Vehicle been to dealer shop on three occasions, and the probelm still reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

Vehicle is making a thumping noise when driving. Vehicle sounds as if running over bumps in road. Contacted dealer and, dealer stated they can't fix the problem until they find out what the problem is. Please add.

Vehicle has had numerous alignments , rear tires wear out within 2 weeks. The rear of vehicle will swerve.

Rear wheels wobble when consumer is driving, this problem can happen at any speed. Contacted dealer, and the dealer was not willing to anything. Dealer performed recall 00s55b repairs. Consumer adds that vehicle pulls to left and steering wheel is off center.

Consumer was traveling about 68mph and cruise control got stuck. Consumer ran off into the shoulders of the road to prevent from hitting another vehicle. Also, vehicle shook and vibrated when driving at speed of 50 mph and over.

While making a left turn and upon applying brakes vehicle started to pull to the left, resulting in a collision. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

The vehicle had a suspension problem, (possibly a loose bolt) which caused the wheel on the passenger side to become out of alignment.

Consumer states that at various speeds the vehicle vibrates and shakes violently causing the driving to lose control of the vehicle. The dealer has inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate or correct the problem. Nlm.

While driving 70mph vehicle starts to vibrate. Admission light comes on. Dealer contacted.

While driving 50 to 55 mph vehicle starts to jerk. Vehicle pulls from side to side. When raining back of vehicle slides. Dealer contacted.

The vehicle experienced problems with the rear wheel barriers. A recall was issued but the consumers vehicle was not included due to VIN.

While driving and upon accelerating vehicle vibrates/heistates, and nearly comes to a complete stop, cause unknown. Please give any further details.

Rear suspension and frame were bent during the second accident in which the driver lost control of the vehicle. Yh.

The consumer suspects there is a problem with the suspension. The tires wear out very fast. Vehicle has been taken to the dealer for repairs.
