1 Trunk Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2006

In 2004 vehicle's ignition key lock fails to work properly. Vehicle is towed to Ford authorized repair and they correct the problem. In 2006 vehicle's ignition key lock fails again. Vehicle is taken to Ford authorized repair and corrected again. Both times I was left stranded since the vehicle's ignition key would not turn to start the vehicle and could not be removed from the ignition. Vehicle's dash lights suddenly failed while driving at night. Lights come on and off. Several times during nightime driving the lights fail. Vehicle's door power door locks and trunk locks fail and cannot be opened with keyless entry. A fuse continues to fail possibly due to a short in the wiring system.

2 Trunk Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2006

We have a 2000 Ford Focus se and about two weeks ago the headlights stopped working (late at night). It was then discovered that every time a new fuse was put in, it would just blow right away. We took it to a private automobile repair shop and they discovered that the deck lid wire harness had broken wires at the bend area causing the loss of power and lights which resulted in damage to other wires. There were multiple wires which were damaged and needed to be repaired. This was all because of the defect in the deck lid wire harness. We have a copy of a NHTSA recall bulletin which states that this defect was under a recall in December 2000. We have called Ford and also spoke to our local Ford dealer and they are telling us that our car does not have a recall for this defect. It is very obvious to anyone who would see the rear deck lid that there is a very clear defect. The wires are frayed and melted together. The gentleman who repaired our car said this is definitely the cause of the problem. The wires on the deck lid are still need of repair and something needs to be done to the bend area to prevent this from happening again. Ford is telling us that they are not responsible and it is not their problem. The reference number for the NHTSA recall is 00v411000. Mfg. Campaign 00s50. We would appreciate any help in getting this matter settled to prevent further damage. We would also like to be reimbursed for the garage bill which was caused from the deck lid wire harness defect. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

3 Trunk Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2006

Our Ford Focus has been nothing but problem since we bought the thing. The wiring was shot about 4 months in, and we could no longer use the electronic locks, or trunk opener. However, the latest problem would be the ignition. I was getting gas when I went to put the key in the ignition and it was stuck. Luckily, after a brief panick attack I managed to get it to start. Today, unfortunately we weren't so lucky, and the steering wheel, brake pedal and ignition are all frozen and are unable to start the car. I now have no vehicle for work tomorrow morning, and am furious with this unreliable vehicle. Someone must do something about this!.

4 Trunk Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2005

Dt:the consumer received a recall on the deck lid wire harness, the recall repair was performed at a Ford dealership in 2001. This recall repair did not repair the problem, the brake lights and license plate light failed afterwards. The consumer returned to the dealer, there were some repairs, but the consumer did not know what repairs were exactly made at that time. Several months later, the brake lights went out because the consumer was pulled over by authorities for not having brake lights. The consumer returned to the dealership and paid for the repairs out of pocket. The next occurrence resulted in the consumer smelling smoke for which she could not determine the cause. She pulled over for a moment, and began to pull out to drive to the dealer, and a passerby honked the horn. The consumer noticed smoke coming form the trunk compartment. The consumer shut the engine off, and while looking for something to put the fire out, black smoke began to erupt from the trunk. Upon inspection, the fire had extinguished by itself and the smoke was coming from the wiring. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who wanted to inspect the vehicle further. The dealer spliced the wires up into the area where the fire was ,and now consumer is concerned a fire may again occur. The consumer has not contacted Ford at this time.

8 Trunk Wiring problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2001

Vehicle recalled in February 2001 to repair problem:"some of the affected vehicles have a rigid vinyl sleeve around the wiring at the hinge point of the rear decklid. During decklid opening and closing, movement is concentrated at this point and may cause one or more wires within the harness to fatigue and break. Depending on which wires break, it may result in the loss of license plate lamps, center high-mount stop lamps, stop lamps or tail lamps. Loss of this rear lighting could increase the risk of an accident. " took vehicle in for repair but the following have failed since: right tail lamp, reverse lights. On 09/12/2007 a Ford customer relations rep stated that my vehicle has never had any recalls. I have four of five of the notices they sent me.
