Two problems related to radio/tape cd player have been reported for the 2001 Ford Focus. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2001 Ford Focus based on all problems reported for the 2001 Focus.
Radio/cd/clock unit appears to short out at various unpredictable times. The cd or radio will act as if the unit is turned off; however the clock display also disappears from the panel. After 10 minutes or longer the clock display will return to the screen - with the correct time and the radio/cd portion can be turned back on as if was turned off. During these "shutdowns" I can not do anything to make the unit work. This includes using the on off buttons and any and all of the other control option/buttons. This has happened three times that I am aware of since I have been driving this 01 Focus 4 door model. Starting in April of this year 2006.
Radio repaired and replaced 4 times for same problem: radio sound cutting in and out intermittently.
