1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2024

Sunroof exploded. Empty road, temp low 40s. No warning. I have owned the car since 2004. Though older car, <120,000 miles.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2023

The drivers door will not open. It is stuck shut. Turning the key in the lock does not work. Broke outer handle trying to open door to assist elderly party out of drivers seat. Power lock fuse is fine. Took door panel off partly to expose cable, cannot push or pull cable to force open. Safety issue because owner is elderly. Cannot reasonably crawl in and out through passenger side. Emergency personnel would not be able to reach occupants in case of an accident.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2017

Antitheft has car locking up while driving.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2015

Ignition key will not turn! they have known (Ford) about this issue and are refusing to issue a recall.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2013

Was driving my car when passenger side window shattered and covered my passenger with glass. Window was in halfway between up and down position. No evidence of anything thrown at window and passenger was not messing with window in any way. No injury to this passenger. Almost caused an accident. Window was repaired and replaced at my expense and a month later it happened a second time in a drive-thru. My window shattered again when the passenger went to roll up the window with the automatic switch and it covered him in glass and his hand was cut.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2013

I have owned this vehicle for five years and at about 180,000 miles I noticed that my rear driver door would not latch. Both rear doors stick and have been difficult to open. However, at about 180,000 miles the door latch stopped working completely. I had to wrap the seat belt around the door to keep it from opening while driving. After doing some research online I found that there is a recall on the 2002 Ford Focus door latches. I scheduled an appointment with my local Ford dealership but when they ran my VIN# they informed me that my car was not part of the recall. Even though I was experiencing the same issue that led to the recall they told me that I would have to pay to have the car repaired. They referred me to the Ford customer service line and after spending 45 minutes on the phone I was told to keep me receipts in case they issue a recall in the future. I am extremely disappointed that Ford didn't offer to fix my car knowing that there was a recall on other cars that are the same year, make, and model.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2012

Alternator pulling to much fire from the battery.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2003

I have 2002 Ford Focus. Premature wear of front brake pads and rotors. Began hearing grinding noise four days ago. 30,000 miles. Chafes, wear excessive, uneven, scored.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2003

I own a 2002 Ford Focus that I purchased last June. I had went into the walmart , and when I came out I saw a car which I thought was mine but it didn't seem like I had parked that close to the car-I proceeded to the car unlocked the trunk with my key-put my groceries in the trunk and opened the drivers side door-which then I noticed shoes in the floorboard on the passengers side and realized my keys had just opened the door and the trunk to someone else's Ford Focus-so I grabbed a buggy real quick got my stuff out of the car-locked the doors and went and found my car. My husband called the dealer and they just laughed and said that you have a one in a million chance something like this would happen -they could change the locks but didin't think it was necessary-would probably never happen again-I emailed the Ford company. They called my husband talked to them-they said they would make a report and to call the dealer back and see what they wanted to do about it. After my husband talked to both of these party's it was decided they weren't going to do anything. We are going to have to get a burgular alarm-so I won't have to worry about someone getting in my car , stealing items if shopping, etc, etc, etc. Mostly wanted to make you aware and see if you have had any other instances of this happening. You pay a lot for a car-for everyone who owns one like it to be able to get in your car. Scares me too=that car thieves may catch on to this.
