1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2022

Console transmission shift lever detents not noticeable in any positon including park (mushy shifter) and I am unable to remove ignition key in any position, on, off or lock. Therefore the car can be easily stolen by anyone (minor or adult) by simply breaking the window, reaching the unlock and driving off. Shifter, steering column, and key removal malfunction.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

I have a 2007 Ford Focus zx5 and have had nothing but problems with the climate control switches and cables I have replaced these several time from the control lever cable, heat control cable they have both broke several times and they will work for a while and then they break or will not work, I recently purchased the whole control switch with heat, climate control, and speed and the cables and the mechanism that it hooks up to and within a week it does not work again, when I go from vent to defrost it will not go to defrost it is on the vents with this being said this is very dangerous especially if your f=driving in bad weather it could cause and accident. I have looked up these issues and all of the older Focuses have this same issue there are tons of videos and forms from other people with this complaint and if you call Ford they advise there is nothing they can do. That is why there are so many accidents because of the manufactures make cars cheap and sell them and do not care about peoples safety. What happens on these cars that the flap door in the dash in front of the heater core is so close that it melts the door so that the flap does not work properly what this should had been made out of is a aviation type aluminum and the housing around it so it does not melt and possibly cause a fire in the dash.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

The light indicating a door is not properly closed came on and will not go out despite all doors and trunk being checked. Safety lock does not engage when driving. I believe this is similar to the Focus recalls re the side doors in later years.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Love my Ford for the most part; however, there seems to be a multitude of sensor problems . . . The engine light keeps coming on and has to be rest again and again. The "open door" light stays on when headlights are running. Trunk opening button does not always work. The window closing button only works part time on front passenger side. The knobs for the heating/ac no longer work. The air directional button has also stopped working. Recently, the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working but it sounds like the motor is still working. I purchased my 2007 ff in 2011, paid it off in 2016. It now has over 235k miles on it. While all these issues have been a nuisance to contend with it has been a pleasure to own. I currently am working on getting the gasket changed for a second time, but that is work my son takes care of. I have reluctantly began began looking for another vehicle, as this one is finally wearing out.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2017

First thing is the driver side exterior door handle. Went to open door and it would not work. Now I have to spend money to have it repaired. But same thing happened to passenger side as well numerous times. The culprit is a plastic piece inside of panel. This has happened several times already. Looks like to me reading other complaints have been lodged against Ford. Each time this occurred I was entering the vehicle while parked. A recall defiantly needs to happen on this issue, before something else goes wrong.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

Driver door latch broke 2 years ago and I paid to have it fixed and now the latch broke on the back door and the door will not stay closed. This happened by just opening the door.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2017

Can't remove key can't remove key.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

The front driver's side door latch mechanism will not catch all the time and requires several times shutting the door before it will catch. Also, occasionally while driving the door will become unlatched and open on its own. I've seen many complaints about this online and there has been a recall on other years with the same part but not on the 2007 Focus.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

We took my wife's 2007 Ford Focus in for oil change and tire rotation and the mechanic said that tires need to be rotated on the Ford Focus's at every oil change to help with the life but from what I have read that doesn't make any difference at all they are notorious for wearing an ruining tires. So what is the deal do we have to have deep pockets or be sitting on a pile of money to keep replacing tires or can Ford be made to help compensate the consumer's for a problem they created and are just letting it go.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2015

My car is having some transmission problems. It will not shift into a higher speed and will not go into reverse. The overdrive off light keeps flashing even though I turned my overdrive on and my car isn't that high in mileage.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2015

The hatchbatch door worked well then a few minuets later I opened it, it will not stay up and slams down there was not incident of injury it but is a danger it will not stay open.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

We were driving north at 50 mph, man going east rolled through stop sign. He t-boned us square in both driver side doors, rolling us over twice, landing back on the driver side of the car. Out of 7 airbags only one deployed. The air bag that deployed was on the passenger seat on the opposite side of where the impact occurred. I have the car, it has been untouched other than tow truck company and is locked in my parents garage, as we don't know what to do with it or next. We have tons of pictures. Pictures of the car, the scene, we have it all. Thank you rw.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

My gas pedal is sticking. I notice this in 2014 when it got could and now it is doing the same thing now , even when it is not cold.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

I was leaving the store when I felt my car slip a little but didn't think much of it. Then a few moments later the check engine light came on and the over drive started blinking off and the car went to reduced power mode. I took it to o'reilly's they plugged it in and said it was the shift solenoid e. Took it to another place and they talked about just replacing the whole transmission!! the car only cost me $5400 why would I pay 4k for a transmission!! why has there not been any recalls on this yet I have seen so many people say the same thing with new cars and less miles then mine, what is Ford doing???. . . . . . Nothing!! built Ford tough my @$$!!.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2014

My son was involved in a 4 car accident, he was the third car in the accident. The first car claims that another car ahead of her stopped short and to avoid hitting the car she slammed on the brakes causing the second car to hit her in the back. My son couldn't stop immediately so he hit the second car in the back. , then the fourth car hit robert on the back with enough force to dent the whole hood and broke the radiator and cave the front bumper into the motor. The car is not driveable. My son had to go in the ambulance since his chest was hurting and his neck got stiff and sore that he couldnt move it. However I don't understand why the airbags didn't engage even when my sons car got hit with enough force to dent his whole front end. Please advice yours truly, edwin mora . .

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

My airbag on the driver side went out the light is on and won't go out, also the power steering is going out the vehicle have under 90 thousand miles on it I have afraid to drive for those reasons it was purchased in 2006 new with 2 tens of a mile on it. I sent an email a year or so ago and never heard from you all. Can't afford to have it repaired airbag over $400 dollars and so is the power steering. Thanks in advance.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

I have a 2007 Ford Focus, I have replaced the rear tires 4 times since I bought the car. The mechanic said all Focus eat rear tires. I have read several other reports of the same issue. Thanks Ford.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

When I first noticed, it was around the 45 mph when I felt the jerking of the vehicle. As time went on it started to do that at 35 and (sometimes or) 45 mph. This past Tuesday 3rd of June 2014 it started to do this at 15, 25, 35, and 45 mph from siting at the red light and moving forward. After getting a tune-up. . It is a little better but it still does that at 35 and some times at 45.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

The air bag light indicating that the passenger air bag even when there's a passenger on board will indicate the airbag is off. It has been doing this everysince I got the car 4 years ago. Now I have a child and people who ride in the passenger seat and safety has become a huge concern there are many reports online of this issue including on here. My family and I cannot afford to replace this or fix this our selves to my knowledge the only aftermarket parts on my car our the tires and all of the mounts. For the original manufactured mounts failed and broke.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2013

I was pulling into a parking lot and parking when my gear shifter fell apart in my hand. Literally threw up a a spring and the button popped off I managed to get it across the street to advanced auto partswhere the worker was kind enough to kind of fix it for me. I have nightmares about being on the road and it falling apart again this is so unsafe. Thank you marjorie reagan there needs to be a recall as I have read many complaints here on the same thing. Also this car has hesitated when driving and slipped out of gear on numerous occasions. Frightening.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

My '07 Focus has been slipping out of gear & at times, just stops! a yellow flashing, od off, lights & flashes on the dash. Left me stranded & I have ms!! I purchased this car with 8 miles on it and have taken very good care of it, so I would never have to worry about being stranded. It has only 53,700 miles! is there a recall or a class action suit, because I would be interested in either or both! when I was stopped on a steep hill, approximately five years ago when the car had roughly 20000 miles, it started to roll backwards even though it was in drive. Then it was fine so I didn't see a reason to bring it in, just guessed the hill was too steep for it. . . Seems I guessed wrong!.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2012

My 2007 Ford Focus rear passanger door lock will not lock. This is a real safety issue because I have children who can pull on the door and open it while I am driving down the road. I can not even "child lock" it. In addition, on Tuesday night I was robbed of all my christmas presents that were in the trunk of my car because the door will not lock and someone accessed my car through the rear door and popped the trunk. They also stole my usps rain gear and important paperwork I had in my car ( I am a union representative). There is several complaints about this issue and we should not wait until a child dies from falling out on the freeway to recall these vehicles.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

I had difficulty opening drivers side door, the handle would "stick or catch". I would have to release and try again, sometimes this would sometimes I had to repeat the process before it would open. I took it to a dealer to have it checked along with another issue that was resolved. I was told door had no problem. The problem persisted on and off for approximately two years. This past Sunday I went to enter car and almost pulled door handle off as it seemed to release from equipment it was attached to. I now cannot open that door and have to enter through passenger door. Mileage attached is approximation.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

This is not a safety complaint, but it is a complaint about a defective component that affects comfort, if not safety. My wife and I both bought new 2007 Ford Focuses. Soon after my car went out of warranty (at about 37,000 miles in fall 2009), the air recirculation function on the a/c stopped working. The indicator light goes on, but the air continues to be drawn from outside. I took my car to my dealer and was told that the motor that opens and closes a vent door had died. It would cost about $600 for the motor, plus the labor cost of removing the dash to access the motor. Because of the huge expense, I decided to live with the problem. Now my wife's car has the developed the same problem (at 21,000 miles). Her air recirculation button also has stopped working. I checked the internet and saw several other owners' complaints about the same problem in their 2007 Focuses. It seems to me that there is a fairly widespread problem with this motor in 2007 Focuses. I am asking you to initiate a recall, so that people with this problem can get their cars fixed and have their a/c work properly.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2010

Ford Focus, 2007 the gear shift in my 07 Ford Focus just fell off into my hand! I was at the store, and put it into reverse, and the button that you depress to shift into reverse popped out, followed by the spring mechanism that holds it into place in the gear column. I tried to put it back in, and finally was able to reach in and depress a small button, thus enabling me to shift it into drive and take it home. I called the dealership where I bought it, and my warranty has expired. (of course). I also called Ford, and there is no recall in effect. The part costs over $1500. To replace. Being a single mom (disabled) and not working, I can not afford this! with the amount of complaints on this issue that I have read online, it seems to me that a recall is in order!.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2009

I bought a Ford Focus 2007 car which is a lemon but didn¿t fall under the original lemon law due to the first transmission not going until 16 months. This car currently has had a total of 5 transmissions put in with the last one in oct 2013. With the one transmission- fluid leaked all over my driveway when I brought the car back home from the shop April 11, 2011. The next morning ¿ I took garbage down- didn¿t see it, fell & broke my wrist tfcf tear, subsequently resulting in surgery & the loss of my job as well as much pain when I never had an arm issue in my life. One transmission only lasted 6 weeks total. The first transmission was at around 20-22,000 miles. This brand new car did not pass my first PA inspection-what new car doesn¿t pass an inspection? car was bought brand new & only has 137,000 miles currently after 7 years. Driving down the road, the seatbelts will jam or come undone & off for no reason, headlights will come on & off at times, the lighter switch almost caught on fire, when the car battery was jumped it melted some plastic on the car, the air bags show as being off all the time and numerous safety issues. We have called Ford so many times including at the very beginning when all the problems began & they have refused to acknowledge or help us. They (Ford customer service) have been terrible to work with-lacking care/compassion in regards to our vehicle & situation. We were forced to keep the vehicle since we took out a loan on it. I paid $18,000 for this car brand new and it has been nothing but a nightmare. This vehicle is an accident waiting to happen & a health hazard. Someone besides myself is going to be seriously injured due to the safety. I will not buy a Ford ever again.
