The car runs without power when shifted to drive gear. It is sluggish trying to speed up. Took to Ford dealers on a recall with that is suppose to take care of it. . Nothing seems to have changed. I am not sure anything was done. Trans makes a rough sound starting. .
Vehicle won’t start on multiple occasions. Vehicle struggles to turn on and lag to turn off. Vehicle struggles to change gears to speed up.
My 2012 Ford se stalls out between first, second and third gear whenever I am accelerating to 40mph. The transmission error continues to pop up after driving for a long period of time. Whenever driving 50 mph to 70 mph as soon as I release the gas pedal, the car goes into neutral stall out & whenever I press down on the gas pedal nothing happens and I have to pull over & turn the car off and turn it back on to reset the transmission computer. If I don’t do that and I press the gas pedal again, the car would jerk and I have to pull over immediately and the car off. I cannot press full on the gas pedal because the car would not accelerate at full speed. Whenever I put gas in the car, it won’t start right away. It would jerk and choke just to start up. It takes me a couple attempts to start the car after putting gas in order for it to start and go. Whenever I’m finished driving and turn the car off, it makes it clicking noise in the engine area for about 2 to 5 minutes and it won’t stop and it only happens when you open the front doors or when the car is completely turned the car off. Whenever I put a full tank of gas or a half tank , the car would not dry properly install out on the highway or street I can’t drive at normal speed because I don’t know when the car is gonna stall out before it hits 1,2 or 3rd gear, which makes it very dangerous to drive on the highway.
On highway with my 18 month old and as a cat merged on ramp I signaled and moved to left lane. I had to move and quickly so that another fast car would not hit me in the rear end where my baby was seated in car seat. In only the 3 seconds I had to make decision which hit would be better for me and my child, my car stuck in the lower gears and I could not speed up to move out of way or pass vehicle parallel my car was losing speed rather than gaining when I pushed in gas to floor.
Only 67867 miles and the transmision is not working . I only drive short distances. Allwise have a problem. Since I buy the car. I never complain because I am very busy. But. Know the car stop complete.
Transmission over heating stop safely light comes on transmission hot stop wait 5 second I do the restart of the transmission and it keeps doing it.
-loss of power from the pedal, not able to accelerate from a stop. Rpm rides high until it shifts. "transmission malfunction. Service now" notice. -unaffected by other traffic but not able to properly maneuver traffic. -problem has re-occurred but not taken to a service center. -no inspection conducted yet. - no warning lamps appeared until issue occurred a few times.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact received NHTSA campaign number 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) the contact stated that the vehicle failed to move in reverse. While driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate over 10 mph. Additionally, while driving, the vehicle stalled. The service transmission message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 172,000.
Transmission has spontaneously went from overheating to not while driving, gears are slipping have speed and when it goes to shift all power lost, then it kicks back in. It was coded with transmission control module failure. The module and both actuators have been replaced now car will not relearn shifting patterns. Spontaneous overheating transmission messages just when car is turned on. Transmission control module has been programmed by dealership but all problems continue to exsist.
I had just purchased Ford Focus used. The dealership told me, that my cause recall does not stand. Because it exceeded over 100,000 miles. They said it out of warranty. They told me to pay $3,400 estimation to fix the car. I told them recall don't expire. Also that Ford manufactures tell me up to 2012-2017 have recalls on transmissions issues. I'm just upset they don't hold up to there standards with Ford and I love Ford motors. They car stalls and won't go into gear. It has difficulty responding to gears. I bought it used abs notice the problems. So I hauled it in to the Ford dealership.
While accelerating out of a parking lot to pull out into traffic, accelerating through intersections, or taking a right on red, the car will start to accelerate and then suddenly as it try's to downshift, it acts as if its stuck in neutral, and wont accelerate at all. On multiple occasions I have almost been hit by other moving vehicles. Some going 50 mph have had to slam their brakes on because I wasn't able to finish accelerating to get out of the way. When it isn't doing that, it has jerky/ rough/ downshifts. It also vibrates when I try to speed up and sometimes has a hesitation and then will kick in to gear. This is a very serious safety issue and has almost caused me to get hit by other cars in motion multiple times . Especially trying to pull out into traffic! I brought it to the used dealership I bought it from and they discovered there was a communication error code with the tcm. They did a system reset and 24 hours later, it was back to doing the same thing again. After doing research I learned that there was a recall on this issue and the recall does a free reset for you. Well, this does not fix the safety issue! it actually needs to be replaced to their newer updated model that isn't defective like this one. So, their current safety recall does nothing. Also, other research showed me that Ford went through a giant lawsuit over these exact problems in 2016 and one result was an extended warranty of 10 years or 150k miles. . Read more...
The transmission module, and transmission. While on freeway with my family car shut off while driving. Yes , yes , no there were no warning signs until after the jerking and shaking started after 39 days then the engine light came on. After that a that the sign said transmission over heating pull over and let car cool down. What was most scary is that it shut off while driving.
Air compression inside has always had air come inside the car never being sealed. Car engine overheats when they use their own products. Tire fault, they claim they couldn't see it, but if they really do diagnostic test as they charge, then they should see all the codes that come up on faults. Ford knows they have had issues with the cars but when you take car in they claim they can't see it, claims to do a diagnostic test, which they don't. Ask about the results they claim there is no diagnostic test for it, but yet they scam with warranty and yourself. Doors leak they say it's normal but it brings mold inside the car. I start it up to keep the battery going and to find someone honest who won't cheat you, cuz the dealerships are scamming folks. Same thing numerous times so I used the last date.
While driving on the freeway around 6pm and taking an on ramp onto another freeway the Ford Focus stalled mid-drive and would not accelerate anymore or switch to higher gears when the accelerator was pressed. The Ford immediately could not go any faster than first gear and luckily we avoided an accident by pulling to the side of the freeway on ramp into the vegetation since there was no shoulder. There was no noise or indication that something had happened to the vehicle. The engine light came on and the vehicle just stopped driving in the middle of driving at around 50mph. It would not drive backwards when put into reverse and would rev up to extremely high rpm when the driver tried to move forwards or backwards. Towed the car to the mechanic the next day and they ran a diagnostic that came back with 5 error codes including: p0805, p087a, p2831, p2836, and p2861. A pin point test was performed and found that the voltage was at a consistent 5 volts, so they cleared the codes and took the vehicle for a test drive and it was fine again. The vehicle has about 79,000 miles. Attached will be the mechanics form along with what they said are several codes for related recalls that were supposedly already fixed.
Taki off from stop light car is stalling, turned vehicle off and will not start again.
The vehicle just shuts down on the expressway without warning while in traffic. The transmission has been overheating without any unusual acceleration. If driving over 25 mph the transmission overheats and will not accelerate. The vehicle radio comes on without the key in the ignition. The vehicle engine light and transmission light continues to come on without warning.
When first accelerating from 0 mph, the car will struggle to shift out of first gear. It constantly jumps and jerks between 10-20 mph. It feels like someone who is newly learning how to drive a stick shift is shifting the car. As an automatic, it should not be having these problems. This is the second time this has occurred with the car. The first time the computer had to be completely replaced.
High rpms died in flight stalling jerking.
My wife was turning at a intersection and the car lost power and motor just revved like it was in neutral. My granddaughter was and her car seat in back and I was in passenger seat. We almost got t boned by another car. Luckily we were not. . After looking up this happening to others. How have you not let the public know how unsafe these cars are???.
After going to my Ford dealer for the last 2 recalls that effect fuel system (last one was recall #19s22) my car was ok for a few months. Now that temps have dropped below 50 the same thing is happening. When accelerating, the car shakes and sputters as it tries to go and I get about 18mpg instead of my usual 27mpg.
As many others, no, rather thousands of others have reported that the faulty dual clutch transmission offered by Ford failed and almost cause an accident that could of seriously injured me and my 2yr old daughter. Will it take a death for the recall of this faulty transmission that Ford knew about, before anything is actually done? how padded are they making your pockets? do your job and save lives.
We purchased a 2012 Focus for our 18 year old daughter as her first car. The check engine light is illuminated and the car shudders as you accelerate like its shifting gears but it's a very aggressive jerk. Once it reaches certain speed it drives smoothly but if you stop at a red light or stop sign and accelerate again it does the same thing. The fault code for the check engine light states it's a catalytic converter problem. I did some online research and found a recall for what I thought was the cause of the issue (recall 18s32). Took it into the dealership to have the recall repaired and they reset the pcm but tech told me the gas tank "passed inspection" so no further repairs were needed. However, the car still shudders at acceleration. I was told I'd have to pay $135 for them to diagnose the problem. I am so afraid for my daughter who is a fairly new driver to be driving this unsafe vehicle. I will be searching for a class action lawsuit as I've read several complaints of the same issue on this website. I don't feel comfortable selling this car to anyone else with these problems either. Ford really needs to rectify this problem immediately before someone gets hurt or worse, dies! the car has 101,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated with the accelerator pedal depressed. The vehicle was taken to currie Ford located at 2052 w morthland dr, valparaiso, in 46385 to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission was defective and needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.
When I put my gear in reverse, sometimes my car jerks and reverse faster than it should or other times the car would idle, I would see the rpm going up and hear the rpm but the car doesnt move. I'd have to hit brake and try to reverse again. When I come to a stop and try to drive, the vehicle either jerks or just takes off. The problem almost happens every time. Or when I am slowing down, the car would jerk or shudder. Whenever I take the vehicle to the dealership, they just tell me the shudder/jerks are in their normal range reading and basically tells me that is normal for the vehicle to do. All the shuddering, jerking, and being hesitant happens mostly starting from a stationary position, like at a red light or a stop sign. This has been happening every since I bought the car in 2016 August, as a used car. I've had to get a new clutch, and replace the new one because it wasn't working properly.
The transmission is failing causing my car to overheat, slow down, slippage engine revs but vehicle does not accelerate. . . . Car vibrates and shakes.
I have a 2012 Ford Focus titanium hatchback. I took my car into bob tomes Ford for a shuttering problem and was told to wait and see to continue to drive the car. Months later I had the tcm replace and now my clutch is out. These were all issues at the time I originally brought my car into Ford. After the tcm was replace I tried to pick up my car from bob tomes Ford service center and the service team could not start my car or get it in gear( yet somehow they "test drove" it). My car has stalled in the middle of intersections, my check engine light has come, my transmission is overheating and asking me to pull over and wait 5 minuets. This is extremely dangerous as I am a mother and have up to 3 children with me at one time. I can not trust my car to get me from a to b safely. My car dies randomly when it wants to. My car is now completely undriveable. I am still paying on this car and I can not even drive it! I need something to be done about this ASAP. This is absolutely terrifying that Ford is allowed to sell cars knowing the transmission is faulty before they were on the market.
I was driving southbound in the left lane on I-495 from MD into va, about to get to the ez pass camera. I seldom use the pass, therefore it is not affixed to the windshield. I had placed it on the dashboard in anticipation of the upcoming camera. Traffic was alternately slowing down and speeding up to approximately 35 mph. The driver ahead of me suddenly slowed nearly to a stop, so I pressed my brakes, which caused the ez pass to slide across the dashboard and up against the windshield. Unable to reach it with my seatbelt on, and because the car was barely moving, I unfastened the seat belt to retrieve the pass. At the same time the driver ahead of me slightly increased her speed, then suddenly slowed again, which I did, too. However, this time I had to punch the brake. It went straight to the floor, my car sped up, and I was unable to avoid rear-ending the car ahead. It was such a helpless feeling to try and stop and have no brakes! a "crash mode" message showed up on screen behind the steering wheel and the sync system automatically dialed 911. The other driver got out of her car and walked back to ask if I was okay. I was fine, but because traffic in the right lane was speeding past, and some cars were even passing us on the shoulder, I did not attempt to get out of my car. Eventually the state police, emts and a tow-truck arrived. My steering no longer worked, but once the other car was towed out of the way the responding officer was able to walk alongside my car, pushing it onto the shoulder while I attempted to steer. The tow driver took over from there. I rode with him back to MD to the body shop of the Ford dealer where I purchased the car in 2011 and have had all maintenance performed and previous clutch issues addressed. It was in the shop for a month. I asked if there was something wrong with the brakes but was told there was no evidence of that.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While driving and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle vibrated and failed to gain speed. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred intermittently and the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted in order to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to long-lewis Ford Lincoln (2551 john hawkins pkwy, birmingham, al 35244, (205) 989-3673) where it was diagnosed that the clutch and seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
My Focus has had numerous transmission problems over the past few years. My car would randomly not be able to shift into second gear and would leave stranded. While driving my car would randomly not shift gears, allowing me to go a max of 10 mph with my children in my car. Many times my car would not start at all. Sometimes when it did start, I could not even turn my wheel. I had the computer chip reset and within 4 months my car became inoperable. I took it to the shop and they said multiple service bulletins were found for my transmission that came back in the diagnostics and told me to take it to the Ford dealership. When I went there I was told it would be minimum $2k to get the internal clutch fixed, if that was the issue, upwards of $5k for the other transmission issues. I felt extremely unsafe with two kids and had to go out and lease a new car. I am furious now that I am reading that Ford knew it was selling 2012 Focuses with faulty transmissions. I still have the car in my possession. I cannot even count the number of times my car would not shift or start, and while driving with my children in the car this happened. It caused me to almost be rear ended or stuck in intersections. The only thing that saved me on many occasions was quickly turning on my hazard lights/blinkers. I am outraged that this has happened. Prior to owning my 2012 Focus, I had a 2002 Focus and never ran into any of these issues and loved the car so much I bought another one. If I could go back in time I would never have bought the 2012 knowing what I know now. I am hoping a class action lawsuit is filed, and if not, I may find my own lawyer and go after Ford.
Takata recall I'll be driving and my car stalled often and has cut off on two occasion . Then my engine light came on. I was driving happen to be at a stop sign and the and cut off and rolled had to restart. When ever I stop the car it take time before it speeds up.
Car has 60000 miles and has exact same issues as everyone else is posting. Shuttering, slow starts, loss of power on highways! how is this not on a recall list by now or do we wait for fatalities? these cars are unsafe for the roads! I just had clutch replaced and I am even scared to get the dang car back and drive it. Ridiculous something isnt being done by Ford. Wont be buying them anymore unless we get some help.
Today's date I have called Ford motor company and spoke with miss. Chris id#2191199 around 10:53 am pst. With the given recent opened number was # cas16420379 to state the said problems and to se how we could possibly solved the said concerns we have. I have told, I have been denied or refused to have my vehicle to be re-serviced over again for the reoccurring previously fixed and serviced mechanical or electronic pcm related software or the hardware failures today's morning and I was told by one of their service advisor named as frank this vehicle can not be serviced any longer. Because, this vehicle record's showing that the vehicle it is branded and/or salvaged and that it will void any kind of mechanical warranties and when I said this vehicle previously was serviced under the same condition and records and why can not be re-serviced over again for said previously fixed at your dealerships service department ? when I asked what has been changed from before and until now ? he did not give me a sufficient answer for my satisfactions. The transmission was operating in-properly and took the vehicle to the authorized local Ford dealership in the city of costa mesa,CA-92627. Checked it in to the service area and registered it with service advisor#7217 to mr. Ned shortsleeve's cares for the said problems. And that we claimed the said issues we were experiencing. 1-the check engine light comes on and stays solid on and when that happened the transmission won't operate properly 2-then they have placed the tcm the side door latch it may break per the manufacturer's safety recall and was asked the dealer to replace the said door component and we were told the part it is not available and needs to be ordered so can be replaced. We will be called when the part is arrived but,we never been called.
Constant problems with the transmission and transmission control module including shuddering overheating lack of power jerking motions and constant replacement. From 2013 to current date.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to pick up speed over 20 mph, failed to shift properly from park into the other gears randomly and the dealer hagerstown Ford, 1-800-963-1100 (1714 massey blvd, hagerstown, MD 21740, (301) 733-3673) was contacted, indicated for the contact to drop off the vehicle to determine if they may be able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that there was no recall campaign to provide a remedy so the contact was uncertain if the manufacturer had a repair fix to provide a permanent remedy. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000. Dyd.
Last month check engine came on while driving. Car jerked and acted as if it wanted to cut off and when putting car in reverse the car would not go in reverse. While driving on July 14th after taking the car to Ford dealership which they reprogrammed tcm the check engine light came on for the same code as before about shift fork b issues. While driving the car jerked a couple of times and acted as if it wanted to cut off and not accelerate. Ford states they will not fix the issue unless for the current recalls on the clutch and tcm failure.
