The fuel gauge and miles till empty is always wrong so I constantly run out of gas while driving anywhere. When I put the fuel nozzle in my tank it makes a hissing noise (compressed air) or it sprays fuel out of the tank. I have a check engine light that won't go off.
The vehicle will struggle to start or fail to start once refueled. When idle the car will increase to 1,500-2000 rpm without assistance. At times while idle, the vehicle will also flutter around 400-500 rpm threatening to stall (has done more than once). The fuel gauge reads inaccurate measuring a quarter tank more than actual. Check engine light for a canister purge value issue.
When driving car and come to a stop, it splitters when accelerating. When fuel gets lower than half of a tank, the car loses power, sputters and engine makes a grinding noise. This happens only when driving uphill or from stopped position.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) on January 2, 2019. The contact stated that the vehicle did not restart after being fueled. The vehicle restarted after a while, but failed to start again three days later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the recall repair was performed: john kennedy Ford (888-377-1951, located at 1403 ridge pike, conshohocken, PA 19428). The technician diagnosed and replaced the purge valve assembly, but the failure recurred three days later. After the fuel tank was refilled, the vehicle shook, shuddered, and stalled. Also, the battery and check engine indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the fuel canister was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 90,153.
Car stalled on 99 highway without any warning losing all power and unable to restart. Towed to dealership and was informed tank was now deformed due to the vapor system lock of the cpv safety recall notice 18s32 technicians have sent pictures that they are in possession of and said they could not give us copies of but allowed us to see and showed us the technicians recommendations for tank to also be replaced along with the cpv . Ford customer service centers have not returned phone calls after being informed of our concerns and state specs due not met there requirement so therefor are refusing to pay for tank to be replaced . Although the specialist states different.
The vehicle had a recall done 8 months ago and recently the same problems of the recall such as the gas tank issue and the transmission issues are still a problem n went to Ford n told what happened and they didn't do anything about it but just 2 weeks ago before I took it to Ford on a Friday night I was driving n my car shut off as I was on a busy road cars passing me by my car just shut off and I pushed the car to the side stressed because I didn't have money for a tow truck and I didn't know what was wrong until someone said try putting gas in it and I told them my tank was half and gas monitor said I had 140 miles to go before it's empty but when the gas was put in the car it turned on and the gas monitor showed 0 then it went up to 260 and the other issue is the transmission when I'm driving the car starts to jerk and stalls and when I come to a stop my rpm just goes up as if I'm stepping on the acceleration but when I let go of the brake the rpm drops n the goes sound less as if it's going to turn off then it jerks n drives this is a serious issue a couple of times I almost got hit from the back and while driving this car has turned off or jerks and makes weird noises and I only have 61k mileage on it something has to be wrong.
The fuel tanked is deformed and the fuel gauge reflects one-quarter to one-half of a tank of fuel when it is actually empty. The recall notice indicated the fuel tank could be replaced if deformed. My fuel tank is deformed and I mentioned that to the service advisor. He didn't seem interested in my concern. Not knowing how much fuel is remaining in the tank is a real problem. The tank is deformed and should be replaced as per the recall.
1. The transmission jumped at intersection once. The transmission did not switch from park to drive once. The software was re-configured several times but it still not running smoothly at low speed. This issue happened since I bought the car in new. 2. The fuel tank indicator did not show correct fuel level. The engine light on. The car seems loosing power. Had to bring the car to the dealer to re-configure the software.
I received a safety recall in Dec. 18 for cpv valve and deformed gas tank. They said parts would be in by end of March 2019 as per letter from Ford. I called Ford today and they are apparently still working with their parts supplier and they have no date to correct this problem. This is a Focus st and they say only fill up the gas tank halfway. Why have a recall if they don't fix the problem? who is protecting the consumer? is there an actual time limit to get this done?.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that rain had entered their vehicle. Water appeared in the vehicle more than once and it was a distraction to the contact's driving. The clutch vibrated when the gear was switched. This happened every time after switching out of first gear. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to star Ford and Lincoln 1101 s brand blvd, glendale, CA 91204 (818) 956-0977 where the vehicle was diagnosed. The vehicle needed a new clutch and fuel tank and reprogramming of the pcm module. The mechanics only installed a new fuel tank and reprogrammed the pcm module. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 59,7673. Jw.
Country Ford stated that they fixed the issue. I called them the same day that the issue was still on going. They stated that it might have been the reset of the computer. I'm very concern the issue was not fix because the needed part wasn't available at the time. The car still stalls when it's at half a tank and completely stalls when it's at a quarter tank. This is not safe to be driving down highways or in a busy city. I am concern with with my health and life it suddenly shots off on a busy road.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The vehicle was repaired under the NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. The Ford country 280 n gibson rd, henderson, nv 89014 (888) 360-8509 was contacted and informed the contact to keep the gas above half of tank and that the computer has to adjust to the update. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 104142. Dr.
Ford has issued a recall regarding the fuel tank deformation but they state that the car should not have any issue when it's above 1/2 of a tank. I have experiences the car stalling around 3/4 of a tank multiple times now. The car engine shuts off when I take my foot off the gas, the dashboard lights come on. I have to park the car and restart it. Ford has not been able to fix the issue due to lack of parts since I took my car in on Dec. 6th.
We received a recall notification for my vehicle in December 2018 from Ford. We were told that as long as the gas tank is filled at 1/2 a tank, the vehicle is safe to drive. Since we received the letter, my vehicle has stalled on the highway three separate times, each time resulting in the car having to be pushed to a safer location. It doesn't seem like anything is being done to fix the situation and it's becoming unsafe to drive. I wanted to file a complaint against Ford motor company for not fixing this issue in a timely manner before it becomes a more serious issue with my husband being hit by another vehicle at 70+ mph on the highway.
My Focus is under Ford recall. . . It is experiencing stalling and loss of power and difficulty starting. Ford says it will be fine if I keep a half tank of fuel in tank, but all the symptoms are happening with over half a tank of fuel. They will not provide a loaner/rental vehicle and the local dealer will not either. They both tell me the same thing about half a tank of fuel. But it is not safe to drive due to the stalling and loss of power. There is no parts available and they don't know when they will be available.
I received a recall notice in the mail due to the deformed fuel tank. The dealership and the recall notice I received in the mail confirmed that my fuel tank readings will be inaccurate due to this issue with the deformation. I brought my vehicle into the dealership to have this issue fixed and the dealership claimed to fix it according to Ford's recall. They also said that I should not longer have inaccurate readings. Today, the fuel reading are still inaccurate and I am concerned that my car may stall and issue is not actually resolved. The reading are still over 100 miles off. The dealership and Ford refuse to evaluate the issue and/or fix the issue under the recall. The photo I provided below demonstrates how off the fuel is. Prior to this photo, my tank was on empty. I added 5 gallons of gas or about 150 miles. A full tank is around 345 miles typically for my car base upon historical readings. In the photo, the electronic gauge says 215 miles left which is wrong and the other gauge reads that its almost full (~315miles) also wrong. The readings should say around 150 miles. Both gauges are off and they also do not coincide.
My current problem is after fueling up my car it starts and then stalls, then the next restart it turns over about 5 to 10 seconds and starts and then has a erratic idle and it may stall again, or if I manage to take off it will run ok, unless I have to stop within a 100 yards, and it then may stall again, or have a erratic idle around 2000 rpms, then idles down to the 750 area if I'm lucky, only after fueling up. Every start afterwards starts and runs fine until the next gas up. I have an engine code I believe they said was a evap code, my fuel tank is starting to concave on the bottom. I talked to my dealership and they said I'm not part of the recall, although he said I fit all the parameters of the recall, but my VIN number its in the system. I'm looking for help and hope someone can contact Ford ! ps this is on going and very dangerous! thank you, very disappointed in Ford. Ps ps the transmission is another forty pages of info if you ever have the time to talk.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 18v350000 (fuel system). The vehicle was taken to capitol city Ford (8623 e washington st, indianapolis, in 46219) and a software update was performed. After the update, the vehicle stalled and would run out of fuel even though fuel was still in the tank. The vehicle was taken to back to the dealer where they stated that the case was closed because they completed the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.
2013 Ford Focus, was bought new from dealership and has had clutch issues from beginning. The car stutters on acceleration, shifts hard, and occasionally there is a delay when the gas pedal is pressed. A recall was performed on this car and the clutch was replaced, but still had same issue. This car has been seen 8 times for this issue, and has never been resolved. The clutch that was replaced during the recall has failed the performance test, but the dealership will not replace due to expired warranty. Recently another recall was issued on this vehicle due to a stuck cannister purge valve. This causes the engine to stall and the fuel meter to read incorrectly. This caused me to run out of gas on the highway when my gas meter reported I still had half a tank of fuel. On 11/29/18, the dealership performed the recall and believing my fuel meter to now be accurate, I ran out of gas again at a quarter tank full. My check engine light is back on and it is again throwing a code for the purge valve. This car has several safety issues which Ford dealer has been unable and unwilling to remedy.
First sign of an issue was the check engine light illuminating in October of 2018. Shortly after the engine randomly started losing power and shutting down completely at random intervals. It could either be while driving or sitting at a stop light. I go to accelerate and notice the engine has shut off. The car will frequently behave as if it has reduced power when pushing the accelerator pedal. The rpms of the car will also randomly fluctuate as the car is struggling to get enough fuel to keep it running which also brings a very rough idle. The rpms do not climb as quickly and the engine has a low rumble to it sounding like it is struggling. This is also accompanied by what sounds like backfires coming from the exhaust. When refueling and putting the gas pump into the car there is a large high pressure release from the gas tank. Upon trying to restart the car the starter motor has to spin for an extra 5 seconds or so until the engine turns on. When it does turn on it sputters and struggles to get to a stable idle rpm.
While driving home from a vacation in florida on 9-15-18 (Saturday), I was driving i75n in the third of four lanes going 75-80 mph. Suddenly my car slowed down abruptly, I held the gas pedal to the floor but the car continued to lose speed. I quickly turned on my emergency flashers and turn signal to get over two lanes into the berm. Thankfully I was not hit by the 80 mph traffic speeding by. Once in the berm, the car just died. It would not turn on again. My lights all illuminated, the gas light, the battery light, the seatbelt light and the oil light, a clicking noise was also heard. It was 95 degrees that day in florida and I was traveling with my sister and my three dogs. My dogs are flat faced dogs who cannot tolerate heat. They quickly declined and were in the process of heat stroke as we were waiting for help to arrive for us. We did everything possible to keep them cool without the air conditioning working, but it was failing. We did managed to get help from a semi truck driver who allowed us to sit in his air conditioned cab, finally the dogs were safe. We waited for the state hwy patrol and the tow truck. The tow truck towed my car to a repair shop about 25 minutes away. The repair shop was not open until the following day so we were forced to get a hotel room for the night. Sunday at noon, they opened. Two and 1/2 hours later, they called me to tell me I had simply run out of gas. My car's gauges told me that I had 45 miles to empty and 1/4 tank of gas in the vehicle, so obviously this was not correct. We were terrified and were put into a very dangerous situation. We all could have died when the car stopped in traffic and my pets from the heat. A recall needs to be made on this problem as I have read many accounts of others who have lived through it as well.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated and lost power in the middle of traffic. The contact coasted the vehicle off the road. In addition, the vehicle leaked fuel. Also, when the contact filled up the fuel tank, the fuel tank gauge would not move. Currently, the vehicle would not start and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact called bill night Ford (9607 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74133, (918) 526-2400), but the dealer would not schedule a tow truck to retrieve the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was 141,000.
Vehicle runs rough and stalls at idle and low speeds. Dealership states that fuel tank is collapsing due to defective purge valve.
The gas gauge is incorrect . Now I cant pump more than 2-3 gallons at a time. I noticed yesterday that the gas tank is leaking gas. Today my vehicle caught on fire due to wiring issues , and if the fire from the wires would have made contact with the leaking gas , the outcome would have been fatal.
The car's fuel gauge was fluctuating, causing the car to run out of gas. While driving on highway and city streets the car would shut off (very dangerous). It is currently in the shop and we are told the fuel tank and pump have collapsed. How can this be a normal thing? we have not gotten the repair bill yet, but from what I have read it will be $1000-$2000. This should be a safety recall and covered by Ford!! this vehicle is only 5 years old. We bought a brand new car for our daughter to avoid these issues.
This car's fuel gauge reads in error. Car runs out of gas even though the fuel gauge reads over 100 miles to empty. It has happened to me 3 times before I realized exactly what was happening. Twice on the interstate at 70mph. My car just diedz the gas gauge showed ample gas when the car was nearly empty. It was very scary. To simply have the engine die and cost thru traffic to the shoulder. My car has only 28000 miles on it. The dealership tells me a sensor failed, the tank is warped and the entire fuel system must be replaced at a cost of $2300. It is not covered under any warranty as the car is older than 5 years.
Evap check valve (or purge valve) stopped working causing the plastic gas tank to begin to implode on itself. Damaging the entire canister system. To the tune of an estimated $1,800 parts and labor to get it fixed.
Ive called not one but two dealerships and they keep saying they can only fix the doors on my car but the fuel has had a recall on it for just as long I can not continue to be afraid to put my 4 month old son in my vehicle because they refuse to fix or even attempt to fix the issue my vehicle continuously cuts off at random times anywhere even going down the interstate I always keep it above half a tank and it still cuts off im putting my hole family at risk due to a issue Ford refuses to fix and I can not afford to get a newer car or even a different car. I also can not drive a rental while it sits at a shop for months. It cuts off taking off slowing down and even running at speed.
Tl - the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph the speed of the vehicle rapidly declined to an unknown speed and the engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was driven to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to a dealer jordan Ford ltd. 13010 I-35, live oak, TX, who diagnosed that the gas tank had collapsed but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that she could file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. Jc.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle restarted when the gear was shifted into neutral. Also, the check engine indicator remained illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was taken to fairlane Ford (313-846-5000, located at 14585 michigan Ave, dearborn, mi 48126) where the contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was kept at the dealer's for the recall repair. One week later, the contact was called and informed to return the loaner vehicle; however, the technician stated that the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to always maintain a half tank of fuel while driving until the part became available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Manufacturer recall number18s32 NHTSA recall number18v735 our vehicle's fuel tank collapsed over a year ago and we are unable to fully use the vehicle. Ford doesn't appear to be providing necessary parts to dealers for repair. We are getting nowhere and the car is unsafe. Perhaps you can compel Ford to fix this recall in a more timely manner. I suspect there are others with the same problem. Thank you in advance.
I have a check engine light that is on found out its a evap leak gas gauge not working ran out of gas can not put gas on gas tank with a gas can if I try it pours out the bottom when I start vehicle it shudders and wants to die out on me lack of power when I press on the gas pedal and ticking sound in engine also door latch on passenger back door does not unlock unless I push the button unlock 2 or 3 times.
Engine stops at driving speed, rendering the steering very difficult. The dealer mechanic said the fuel tank collapsed and this is a common problem with this car . Somehow this is not deemed by Ford a safety issue.
At an intersection, the car sputters from a stop and sometimes stalls. Likewise, after re-fueling the tank the car stalls 2-3 times in a row on ignition before starting and staying on. When approaching a stop, the car has sometimes had the other dashboard warning lights come up and felt like it was about to stall, with the rpm gauge bouncing around near zero, but has not fully stalled during deceleration (possibly due to me pressing on the accelerator to prevent the stall). The service engine soon light came on shortly after this began. At that time, the fuel gauge also began to "stick," not moving from position until the car would be stopped and restarted, and mis-representing the number of miles left before needing to refuel. I'm currently at a Ford dealership to get inspected and repaired. I've been told that it has something to do with a pump, but nothing more at this point.
I have had nothing but problems with this car and have only owned it since July of 2014. The computer module in my transmission has already had to be replaced due to shuddering, gears shifting incorrectly, and eventually dying while driving. Now my car is in the shop, again. This time for code p0456, which relates to the purge valve canister and evap system. A few weeks ago, I noticed my check engine light came on and had someone run my codes. Whenever I put gas in the car, it takes several tries before my car will start. I have to pump the gas while starting the car in order for it to actually start. After I get gas, the car will sometimes die while I am driving. . . Which has happened while I was driving on the highway in the middle of rush hour traffic. This will cause a major accident for someone some day. . . Maybe even a fatal accident. The fuel gauge also started reading incorrectly at the same time. I will have a 1/4 tank of gas, but it will register that I have 3/4 full and is only momentarily corrected when you turn the car off and restart it. I have researched many blogs and forums and have discovered that many Focus owners are having the same exact problems with these issues. My car is in the shop right now and I am waiting for them to call with the final diagnosis. It isn't right for Ford to know that they have faulty cars out there and not pay to fix the problems. Ford needs to recall this.
