Tl the contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the fuel gauge became inoperable. As a result, the vehicle ran out of fuel on several occasions and stalled. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the purge valve needed to be replaced. The contact called bowditch Ford (11291 jefferson Ave, newport news, va 23601, (800) 735-2211) and was referred to NHTSA. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 40,000.
