After feeling the automatic transmission was excessivley lurchy, I came to stop at a traffic light on a busy road. When the light turned green I sat revving my engine and was unable to get the car to move. I put car in park and then back in drive with the same results. I tried the s mode with manual shifting and car still did not move. I eventually turned the car completely off and back on and this seemed to correct the problem. I found the situation very dangerous . Apparently from what the dealership said the clutch was not engaging. It is an automatic transmission car.
The rear passenger door will not lock or unlock with the keyless entry nor the buttons in the car. Turning on or off the child lock feature does not affect it. I can manually 'force it' either way - barely - for now. This happened once before several years ago - where it was stuck completely unlocked, and you couldn't manually force it. It was like that for several months and then mysteriously fixed itself. I have looked up this particular problem online and have found that this make & model appears to have many cars with this issue yet Ford has not done a recall on it. This is a safety issue. Two scenarios are possible here that alarm either emergency personnel can not open the door because it's stuck in the locked position and cannot be moved or the door remains unlocked and unwanted persons get in or things in the car get stolen because the lock is stuck unlocked. Common sense would seem to argue that this deserves to be fixed at no cost to the consumer, given the safety issues with this defect.
With no accident, trauma or unusual event, my air bag warning light began to come on and off intermittently. After about a week, it stayed on. I took it to a Ford dealership. For $119. 16, they diagnosed it as codes b1868 - airbag lamp failure and b2232 airbag circuit open loop #2 front driver's seat. It would cost $1,100 to replace the module.
In medium/heavy rush hour traffic, the engine speed began to rise while the vehicle was coasting (foot off the accelerator) in 3rd gear. I shifted into neutral, applied the brakes and was able to avoid striking the car in front of me, but the engine speed continued to climb. A blip of the throttle eventually halted the engine speed rise and the rpms slowly returned to normal. The vehicle seemed to run normally for the following couple minutes and I was able to exit the freeway safely, stop and restart the car. After a quick examination, I found nothing in the driver's footwell that could've interfered with the pedal's operation. This is the second occurrence in which the vehicle has accelerated on its own volition. The first incident happened with cruise control engaged on a rural stretch of interstate. I stopped the vehicle by shifting into neutral, quickly pulling over to the shoulder and turning off the ignition. At the time I assumed it was a temporary malfunction with the cruise control system; the car acted normally after being restarted. During this most recent incident, however, the cruise control wasn't engaged at any time during the trip.
The key will not turn in the ignition. This has been ongoing for two months. It takes several minutes of jiggling to finally get the ignition lock to release. I drive this car on business, including in remote areas. It is scary to try to start the car and have the key not turn. So far, I've always been able to get it to eventually work, but this is ridiculous. We've just started experiencing the same issue on my wife's 2007 Ford Focus. In researching this, it has been a problem on the Focus since the beginning and apparently Ford has refused to acknowledge the issue or change the ignition lock mechanisms on later Focus models. Potentially getting stranded at night or in a remote area due to a faulty ignition lock is a serious safety issue. One should never have a problem in turning the key in the ignition. For what it is worth, I am a career safety and risk management consultant working in the commercial insurance industry with 35 years experience.
I purchased a pre-owned 2005 Ford Focus about 1 1/2 ago. Recently, the driver's side passenger door would not lock automatically or manually. I searched the internet for information and discovered that there had been a recall on this problem. I called Ford and was told that my vehicle was not included in the recall because it was only the 2005 Ford Focus from a certain manufacturing location. The representative informed me that my 2005 Focus was not manufactured from that particular location. So I took it to my mechanic who stated that it was the door latch and would cost $271. 44 to repair. I had no choice but to have it repaired. I've attached a copy of the recall and I'm very upset since it is the exact problem that I am having yet it's not included in the recall. I understand that vehicles need repairs from time to time but its troubling to me that this was a major problem that resulted in a recall, but I'm out the money because mine wasn't a part of it. My husband and I own 2 Ford vehicles and will be in the market for another vehicle soon and debating whether or not to buy another Ford.
Auto door lock does not function. I can hear what sounds like something happening or electric motor running when I push the button but nothing happens.
The back driver's door will not open. Door is unlocked but cannot be opened from the inside or outside of the car.
Steering column locked up and will not allow key to turn in ignition, cannot get steering column to unlock no matter what is done.
Purchased four tires in Dec of 2010 with 70 thousand miles tread out miles for my station wagon . 30 thousand miles later, the rear tires were gone. There were bald spots all over the inside drivers rear tire. The cords were beginning to show after six months and 30 thousand miles. The other rear tire on the passenger side was not any better. Alignment was fine. It was checked had another alignment done and purchased two new tires with forthy thousand miles which were replaced 8 months later with no treading left. Ford has done everything except issue a recall. Ford dealer provided no real assistant. They must know, but acted as if never heard of this provide. They inspected the rear and took readings of tread etc, but did nothing else. Tire company said not a defect in the tires so we don't replace tires for free. Judging from all the other posts this is not a good situation. I was told to rotate tires often and check often. Sometimes you hear a thumping noise and the car drives heavy in wet conditions.
I have been researching the issue and while it doesn't fit within the traditional constraints of a safety complaint, it is indeed a safety hazard. The ignition column of the 2000 Ford Focus will "lock" as I was told by the service representative at a Ford dealership. Luckily, this happened to me in my driveway. However, if this were to happen to someone in a remote area, they would be stranded by a problem that they have no control of or any idea that it may happen. The service rep told me that there was nothing I could have done to prevent this problem, and there was no way I could fix unless I came to a dealership. If someone has a family of four (such as the people I bought this from) and they are stranded in the middle of nowhere, basically a default with a key tumbler is to blame. This seems unfair to the consumer.
We have taken our car to the Ford service center no less than six times because the interior door locks will not unlock (power locks). There is not a manual way to unlock the doors. Our teenage daughter drives this vehicle and we are concerned for her well-being of being able to get out of the vehicle for any reason (accident, fire, and inconvenience). Ford has claimed that nothing can be done and it's attributable to us living off of a dirt road and the car design does not include door weatherstripping. We are giving Ford one last oppotunity to correct before hiring an attorney. The car is still under warranty and has not been in any accidents.
Both rear doors wont stay shut and the driver door wont open.
Key will not turn in the ignition, thereby preventing the car from starting.
Bought my 2008 Ford Focus March 14, 2009 with 15,000 miles as a fleet return. At 36,000 miles the hankook optimo h725 original equipment tires are worn out and need to be replaced. Just average driving on the tires. These tires are supposed to have a 80,000 mile treadlife guarantee. Hankook's warranty does not apply to original equipment tires. To say I am disappointed and perturbed by the poor performance of these tires is an understatement - didn't even make it to the half way point of their treadlife.
The 2004 Ford Focus has a problem where the key will not turn once inserted into the ignition. The only way to get the key to turn is to tap it with a hammer or other heavy object or spend over 300 dollars to get a new ignition lock. This problem has happened to me before on occasion but now it happens every single time I take the key out of the ignition. Numerous people are complaining about this problem yet Ford has not issued a recall to address the issue. I'm hoping the NHTSA will force Ford to do something about this problem because I know I am not the only one that this is happening to.
I put the key in the ignition to start the car and the key would not turn and my steering wheel locked up. I spoke a friend about it and she stated she has the same problem she has a Ford Focus please tell me what to do if it was an emergency I would not be able to leave or pull off in the event of something happening.
The ignition key would not turn. The repair cost $305 and Ford will not cover the expense under the extracare extended warranty. My research indicates that this is a problem that has been going on since 2000. I had a 2003 Ford Focus and I experienced the same exact problem. I assumed when I purchased my 2007 and 2010 Ford Focus that this problem had been addressed by Ford. I looked up the 2003 Ford Focus on your database and found 247 complaints regarding this problem. . The 2007 Ford Focus has only 10 complaints but it appears that the mileage has to be over 30,000 miles.
All of a sudden I am having trouble turning the key in the ignition of my 2004 Ford Focus. As of now I am able to get the key to turn by gently tapping on the key with a hammer as I try to turn. I have not replaced the ignition because when researching this problem I have come to realize this is a very common fault that Ford is aware of, but refuses to take responsibility for.
The gas pedal got stuck and we were in a car accident.
2004 Ford Focus key will not turn in ignition.
I purchased a 2012 Ford Focus hatch. As soon as we drove the car we noticed the difference in the transmission. The sales man said he didn't feel it and that the car had to learn our driving habits. Don't think a car learns 2 different driving habits as there are 2 of us driving it. But at low speeds either accelerating or decelerating the car shutters and shimmies way too much for our comfort. It seems this is an electronic problem but we thought we'd bring it in to have a trained tech look at it. The first attempt was a new module and that should fix it. . . . It didn't. . . So in a second time for a remapping of the computer. . . Didn't help. . . . . In for a third time and the tech says Ford is not allowing any fixes on this car. . . We have to wait! really? wait? I bought a brand new $21,000 car. . . . . . An automatic car! I been told it has to learn how I drive. . . I've been told it needs broke in. . . It has 5000 miles on it now how long does it take to break in?I'm told that it's as if I am driving a manual and this is normal. . . . . . . . . Hello!!!!! not a manual. I'm told this is just how this transmission reacts. . . And along with the shuttering is the hesitation upon accelerating that could cost me my life on a busy highway. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The remote key lock has confusion issues. It doesn't always recognize the signal and it has to be opened or locked manually. All I want is a fix and if there is no fix I want to be able to implement the lemon law on this car. . . . . . . . I expected more from Ford for my 30 plus years of loyalty. After all isn't that what has kept Ford going? all of us loyal customers that stayed with them thru the hard times? my family has bought over $100,000 in new Ford cars and trucks and plenty of used ones as well. I really am sad that Ford hasn't stepped up on this one and I am so sure I am not alone. Listen Ford execs. . . . . We are paying attention!!! thank you!.
Ignition is totally frozen up. No advanced warning of imminent failure. Stranded. Was able to get a ride. Ignition is totally stuck will not turn at all. Not an electrical problem, but a mechanical failure of the ignition/key mechanism in the steering column. Key will not turn at all. Huge safety concern as this could happen anywhere, anytime.
I drove my 2000 Ford Focus zx3 to work and back with no problem. I parked it at my house and later that night when I went to take my car out the key would not completely fit into the ignition. The steering wheel is locked the key is almost completley in and I cant get it in any farther. I'm either going to have to take it to a dealer or a locksmith most likely. I'm lucky I wasn't out late or far from home.
My 88 year old mother was pulling into her garage when grabbing the shifing lever to put it in park it came up out of the column along with the electrical connection causing the car to go forward and hit the boxes. The key was locked in place and the car wouldn't shut off. Piss poor design of screw holding the shifter on and the connection for the power.
The rear passenger exterior door latch has failed. There is an NHTSA campaign id number : 05v030000 for 2005 Ford Focus door latch problems. I called Ford and gave them my VIN number and they said there is no recall for that VIN. In my opinion the NHTSA description of the failure is the same as my problem.
One of the rear doors will not lock. The dealership informed us the motor needed replaced. This was shocking news since the car has relatively low mileage compared to this type of needed repair.
Key would not turn in the ignition, so vehicle was unable to start and had to be abandoned.
Ignition locking mechanism not working - can not start car. Key will not turn at all. A known problem with Ford Focus 2000 - 2003. This problem should be investigated, Ford seems to deny the problem and is lining their pockets still with the repair money ($400 +). One day somebody is going to get stranded and get seriously hurt. (thank god for that cell phone). It is absolutely ridiculous this has not been recalled. Crooked american car companies - I did not buy this car it was given to us with only 26,000 miles on it and it only proves I would not buy american cars. How sad for economy and lack of doing the right thing.
Within the last few weeks, our Ford Focus started making a thumping noise which was accompanied by a slight vibration of the car. After a few weeks of this, I took it to the local Ford dealer to get the tires re-balanced and rotated. After a road test (I went along), the dealer said that both rear tires were 'cupped' and that rebalancing and rotating would not solve the problem. They said that the suspension was ok. The tires have about 20,000 miles on them, and are the second set on a car that has just about 50,000 miles on it. I am concerned that the tires are wearing out faster than expected for the good quality tires that I put on to replace the factory originals (which wore out early). The thumping is noisy, but I am worried about loss of control if things get worse when on a long trip, or if the tires fail due to the stress of the 'cupping'. From checking the internet, other Focus owners have had the same problem (over a number of model years), it appears that there is some sort of design problem with the rear of this car which causes excessive and rapid tire wear leading to the 'cupping' and resultant noise and (I am guessing) bouncing on the road. I expect that the Ford motor company is well aware of this problem and hopefully have some sort of repair that could remedy the problem before there are accidents. Buying new tires every 20,000 miles is not the solution.
I was going to e. Grand river @ posted speed other car made left turn failing to yield and struck into my car, went over curb and struck brick foundation. My right hand bone broke, had surgery to fix. My 2010 Focus is totaled.
There were no warning signs. On may 09, 2011, the key became stuck in the ignition and would not come out. Did some research online to find out this is a common problem with no recall.
I purchased a used 2003 Ford Focus se/4 door/automatic. The ignition key cylinder has been acting up for sometime. On three different occasions the cylinder with the key when turned to the off position will completely come out of the steering column when removing the key. Again, this has happenen on at least three occasions and could happen at any time. I have not been to a dealer to repair the problem yet. But that is my next stop. I am wanting Ford to issue a recall and repair this problem. Thousands of other Focus owners have had similar or same problems. This has happened to so many people who have become stranded because of this malfunction. Not to mention, this is an obvious safey issue due to the possibility of injuries in a moving vehicle.
Counting this set of tires this is third set, original, set bought from dealership were I purchased car and then goodyear tires. Each set lasted around 20,000 miles. Always back passenger side wears completely slick. They had to replace front tie rod on one side at around 50,000 using my extended warranty because they wouln't listen to me. They also told me there were no recalls. I had mine rotated and balanced also when I was suppose to. I now have 77,000 original miles on my vehicle and warranty will soon be out. Bought my car new in 2008.
This vehicle has suddenly died dozens of times since April of 2011. It dies when applying the brakes on the interstate, it dies when breaking in a parking area. There is no specific speed when this occurs. The vehicle starts back up after two or three times while giving it gas. It happens when the gas tank is full or low and our very reputable mechanic can find no cause. This is extremely dangerous, especially in high traffic areas and I have seen where numerous complaints have been filed online and I hope reporting this while show a pattern with these vehicles.
Two nights ago I drove my 2002 Ford Focus zx3 to a nearby bank to use the walk-up atm. Since it was after business hours, I parked along a curb, but not in a parking space. I used the atm and upon returning to the car, my key refused to turn in the ignition cylinder. It was as if all of the sudden my key was the wrong key for the vehicle. Since I was not in a parking spot, I put on my hazard lights and ran a half mile to my home to retreive my spare key. Upon returning, I found that it did not work either. No matter what I tried, the key would not turn in the ignition cylinder. I wanted to get the car to a parking space so I put the car (a manual transmission) into neutral and began pushing it forward. The steering wheel was locked, and because I could not move the key, I had two options - move the car straight forward, or move the car straight back. I moved the car forward to a slightly better spot, but could not maneuver it into a true parking spot. I called for a tow truck since the car would surely be towed at the start of business hours the next day. When the tow truck operator arrived he told me he had seen this problem before in Fords, and said that I was lucky to have a manual transmission, otherwise he would likely not be able to tow it (it was a flatbed tow truck). I had him tow the car to a local Ford dealership. That night I looked up information online and found that many Fords 2000-2003 have had this problem - some people even said the key would get stuck in the ignition. The next day the dealership informed me that there were no recalls on the key cylinder issue, but that they would fix the problem for $501. 56. I saw no alternative and had them put in a new ignition cylinder and issue 2 new keys. The dealer kept the old parts (old ignition cylinder and keys). The new ignition cylinder appears to be working fine (but keep in mind the old one appeared to be working fine as well before malfunctioning).
Just purchased a 2007 Ford Focus hatchback two weeks ago. It had 29000 miles on it. Hardly driven. I drove an hour away from my home, yesterday, two weeks after purchasing it. The radio went black, all lights and gages followed. I was able to drive it approx. 2 miles to a truck stop, before the car died, and I called for roadside assistance. After realizing that it's probably the alternator, I did a search online and realized that many people have dealt with this exact same issue in the exact same type of car, around the same mileage. Nothing has been done by Ford to correct this issue and I think they should. I was on a busy highway with my girlfriend and her 9 year old daughter, who was terrified of the whole situation of being stranded in the dark at night. I have also learned that people have needed to replace the alternator in these cars more than one time, after the initial episode. I had to have my car towed and it cost me $100. I haven't even made my first monthly payment on this car yet !!! now im looking at spending anywhere from $400-$700 to fix a car that I purchased, less than 3 weeks ago. Had there been a recall from Ford on this, I would either have never had to deal with it, or I could have taken the car in when I purchased it and had it serviced, free of charge. I know that there are plenty of complaints about it on the internet to constitute a recall. I hope this helps in getting that done. Where do I stand, if a recall is announced after I have spent the money to rectify the situation myself??.
Four weeks after I purchased my 2011 Ford Focus, I turned on the a/c and to my suprise the a/c never got cold. I had it running for 20 minutes but it never got cold. The next day called and took the car to be checked out, they kept it two days and had me come pick it up saying that they would have to investigate. The next day I got a call from fairfield Ford saying that there was a object in the a/c and not covered by my warranty! when I bought the car in February it was still cold weather so never turned on the a/c when I did the test drive, never would think that a almost new car that is pre-owned would have a bad a/c system!! I truly think the a/c was bad and they knew it prior to selling the car to me. Now having squeaks when I back out my garage in the mornings, recently had it checked and the say my back drums are no longer round and need to be resurfaced or replaced!! only have had this car 6 wks now and so far have two major problems with it, have notified the bbb about the a/c, guess now have to contact them about the brakes too. !.
2003 Ford Focus key not able to turn ignition issue that has been reported previously. Vehicle stranded until ignition lock assembly removed and replaced.
Attemopted to start car and steering column and ignition was locked. I can't get either to turn.
The ignition is completely locked. I've been having trouble the past month being able to turn the key in the ignition and now I cannot turn it at all. My car is stranded at a local tire shop with the window down, which may cause even more damage from the weather or allow for easy theft. This problem is so unpredictable its scary, I could've been anywhere and been stranded. Then I looked up the problem and find that tons of other Focus owners are having the same issue because Ford used a cheap metal. Its time that they treated there customers right and recall this part.
My ignition key cylinder has gone bad. My key will not turn therefore I cannot drive my car. Being that I am a young female, I found this experience to be horrific and highly unsafe. My county has one of the highest murder rates and being stuck without a way to get away from a troubling situation has left me to highly regret the purchase of my Ford Focus. I see on your website that hundreds of people have complained about this issue. I don't understand how a defect in a car cannot be recalled! this venture is costing me over 600 dollars which I like everyone else do not have to spare. I find it a shame that Ford does not own up to their mistake. It makes you question the quality the american auto industry puts forth. I have always been a believer of supporting our local business and industry however I have learned that american industry like to burn people and sell unsatisfactory products. I appeal to you to recall the Ford Focus cylinder before someone makes the ultimate sacrifice to prove that this is indeed a high risk safety concern!.
Failure to be able to turn ignition. Had to take it to a dealer and spent $400! inconvenience? yes!.
2004 Ford Focus, key will not turn in the ignition. This has been an on going problem. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes, other times it has taken hours to get the key to turn. With less than 70k miles, this is a safety hazard when I have children in the car!.
I have had my Focus now for only about 3 years, & have had more problems than I have had with any other vehicle I have ever owned before, combined. Ford Focuses from the years 2000-2003 have an apparent ignition problem, and I am one of the unfortunate owners to be left stranded by this issue. I am completely astonished that practically every single Focus owner has had this problem & yet the ignition has not been recalled! I have had 2 other recalls on my vehicle, both very stupid trivial items which has never affected me in the slightest. I am very close to just scrapping this vehicle, & I am positive I will never be purchasing another Ford ever again. It disgusts me that something that seems like it was made to break. . . Something that left me stranded & without a car for over 2 weeks now. . . Is also something that every other Focus owner has had to replace out of their own pocket. How has this issue not been resolved by Ford yet?!?!?.
I have a 2007 Ford Focus,my windshield started with a small crack coming from the fire wall area, below the dashboard. Over a few days it have grown in size, and another crack has started about two inches from where the first crack started. Neither crack is from impact with a foreign object.
After purchasing car paint came off under passanger front door ,about an inch long and 1/4 wide. At 32000 miles paint was coming off of hood 1 inch wide and 1 inch long.
I own a 2008 Ford Focus. In 2010 my car would jerk badly when I would press on the breaks. I took it in to Ford and they said the problem was my transmission. Luckily I still had warranty and they gave me a new one. When I got my car back from the repair shop I still noticed some jerkness to it and told them. I was told to keep driving it and it would go away, it never did. 6 mo. Later I notice the car getting worse. The gas pedal is hesitant and the gears hesitate to shift. Especially when I drive uphill and turn a corner. It also takes a long time to go up to speed. I took it for service again and they said nothing was wrong with it. Note: they did not test drive my car. How can a doctor diagnose a patient if he doesn't give him a check up? I was very dissappointed and they had the nerve to charge me $200. If I have a new transmission why is this happening? I service my car on time and have it well kept. It's now 2012 no one can tell me what's wrong with my car. I've had spark plugs, fuel filter, engine oil change, air filter changed and "new" transmission and the problem still exists. I am very dissappointed in Ford.
My 2002 Ford Focus has a plastic grommet that holds the base of the hood prop in place. This is a engineering defect, because our grommet broke and the hood fell on my husband and I. I ordered the part from the parts department at the dealer and was surprised it was a $5. 00 part that I am sure will break again over time. In fact all new Focuses have this cheap $5. 00 part. I hope no child is ever near the hood when it breaks. Most cars have metal bases for the hood prop that swivel and last a lifetime. I plead with somebody out there to get Ford to take responsibility for this. I tried.
I have a Ford Focus 2001 and the key got stuck in the ignition. I wasn't able to put the key in or remove it. I took my car to the Ford dealership and had to pay 350. 00 to get it fixed.
First incident - December, 2007-stopped in traffic, experienced sudden acceleration, applied brake and shifted car into neutral. Tapped accelerator three times, idle returned to normal . Second incident - December, 2007, while exiting store parking lot, I stopped and waited for traffic to clear on main highway. Car had sudden acceleration, rpm's went up to 6000. Immediately shifted to neutral, tapped accelerator three times, idle returned to normal. Took car to dealer after second incident. They reported they could not find anything wrong at that time. Third incident - April, 2008 - slowing down in traffic, going approx. 5 miles per hour, experienced sudden acceleration at about 3000 rpm's. Immediately shifted into neutral, tapped accelerator three times, vehicle then returned to normal idle. Fourth incident - March 29, 2010 - while pulling into a parking spot at a kroger store I turned right into the spot, coasted into the spot and had foot over brake pedal. Experienced sudden acceleration, car surged forward, I pressed brake pedal, but car crashed into bumper of vehicle in parking spot across from me. Took car to dealer, but once again, dealer said they were unable to verify concern. First three incidents, my husband, david gerard was driving the vehicle. I was driving the car during the last incident in March, 2010.
2010 Ford Focus se driver's side floor mat is not properly and securely retained in position and may slide up and under the accelerator pedal causing "stuck" pedal condition. The retention system consists of 2 posts mounted in the carpet and 2 corresponding holes in the mat. Most other cars use a metal hook in the carpet that clips to a hole in the mat. The Focus mat retention posts in the carpet are not strong enough to hold the mat in position. The mat easily comes off the posts during exit of the vehicle and then migrates up the floor kick during future ingress and egress. There was no incident in my situation but today I had to pull the mat down when it had migrated up the floor kick to almost touching the pedal mounting frame. If the mat "rolled up", it could catch and hold the pedal and not release when the driver removes his foot.
1. 2002 Ford Focus ignition switch problems. For a while my 2002 Focus has been giving me ignition switch problems. Either the key is stuck in the ignition switch and won't come out, or the key will not be able to turn the ignition switch. I bought the car when it had 48,000 miles on it, it now has around 67,000. 2. It happens on a fairly regular basis. Although usually the key will eventually turn, simply by removing it and putting it back in the opposite way. If they key is stuck in the switch, usually restarting it or reversing and going back into drive will allow you to get the key out. 3. Now I am currently stuck at work because the key will not turn in my Focus at all! after researching the problem online, I have seen many complaints about the same thing. . Read more...
Failed ignition key lock caused my car to stall and freeze in place. Preventing me from restarting my car in traffic. Additionally, I was unable to unlock the steering wheel to guide the car off the road to a safe place. This has happened once during my ownership of the vehicle, and was repaired using Ford parts, at a non-Ford mechanic. Cost approximately $350.
My main complaints are the power windows, air conditioning, fuel system issue 3 of the 4 power window mechanism in my car have broken and two are wedged up, which wasn't a huge safety concern to me because I rarely have people in the rear seats. Now, I have to decide if I should fix my driver window or wedge it. It is a safety concern for me because if I get into an accident and cannot open my window then I might make it out alive. My a/c is broken as well so in the summer months, I need to choose to either fix my a/c or fix my power window so that I can have ventilation. Also, I have been trying to get an issue fixed with the fuel system as it sometimes lurches in the middle of driving. It hasn't stalled on me yet in the middle of an intersection like it has for some people, but I am worried it will happen soon. I am hopeful Ford will fix my window issues as this is a direct cause of cheap parts.
Driving to work 4 am- hear a click; engine goes dead; roll to side of road; get out of car and see smoke and fire coming out of the bottom of engine. Within 4 minutes care is in flames. . . Totally burn by time the fire department got to site all that was left was the rear end// no injuries luckily I was able to get out of the car.
I was out doing errands and the key would not turn in the ignition even with the steering wheel loose. I tried a few times and it finally turned. Later that evening when leaving the key would not turn again, except this time it did not ever turn and I ended up having to borrow a car from my in-laws. We are in the process of getting quotes to have it looked at and fixed or replaced.
I have a 2002 Ford Focus and my ignition won't turn. It just froze. It was ok. All of a sudden, I had an interview to get to and got in my car and it wouldn't start. The key just wouldn't turn. I am very grateful that I was at home when it happened. I think it is a disgrace that Ford knows there is a problem and won't do a recall. A recall should not be completely about a safety issue but about providing the public with quality in the cars. Obviously, the consumer is of no importance to Ford. I think this whole experience has made me decide to never trust a Ford again. I took the car in to two mechanics which told me it would be a few days to get the dealer parts and the repair will cost over $400. 00. It is a disgrace that Ford knows the problem exists and has done nothing to fix it.
I bought my car in April 2008 by June the doors were hard to open. At that time I lubricate them, that seem to help for a short time. Then the back doors would not close opening as I was driving. My car was still under warranty. I went to meredith Ford in Plymouth nh. I was told it was cosmetic and they did'n work because I lived on a dirt road. Which I did not. I told them some one was going to fall out of my car I was told by the service manager I better have good insurance. I still have a rope holding by back doors closed. And I was never treated so badly before in my life.
Ignition failure.
Key will not turn the ignition on.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 62 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact bumped the floor shifter and the gears shifted from drive into neutral. The rpm's began racing until he turned off the vehicle and pulled off the road. He attempted this scenario a few times and got the same results. The current mileage was 25,166 and failure mileage was 25,100. Updated 05/06/08.
The motor on the sun roof went out while the vehicle was still under warranty I had it fixed then after the warranty expired it went out again and I couldnt afford to get it fixed, the motor for the rear windows went out (both passenger sides) the front passenger door does not lock because the motor went out, and know the drivers side window is starting to make a noise like it going to go out also and the door lock is making nois like its going to go out. This is a huge safety issue first of all when carrying small children in the back and another safety issue with the doors not locking makes it much easier for someone to car jack you. I have never had a vehicle that the electric windows and doors and the moon roof went out this has to be a defect I have gone to the dealership to complain after the warranty had expired and I was told that there are no recalls and they can't help me unless I pay. I can't even lock the door using a key because it doesn't work.
Brakes failed which caused crash. The very day back brakes were fixed, the front brakes then went out within a month, resulting in almost another accident. Even though Ford recalled this back in 2000, (bought car in 2005) they are refusing to fix it. There have been 14 total recalls, all seem to be wrong with my car too. I should have done my homework prior to buying but why was anyone even able to sell this to me considering all the recalls?.
I have a 2001 Ford Focus. Water started leaking into the front passenger floor. I took it to the dealership and they could not find a problem. The leaking continued. After it rained again, the water leaked into the floor all over my new video camera. I took it to the dealership where I live and told them what had happened. They said they could not find a problem, yet the car did not leak again. Recently my husband was doing maintenance on the car and found a "for sale" sign spray painted black lodged over the cabin air filter. He removed the sign and now my car is pouring water again. After doing some research, this is a common problem among Ford vehicles, especially '00 to '04 Ford Focuses. There needs to be a recall.
Problems with inserting and/or removing the key from the ignition key slot. I was unable to reinsert the key to start the ignition until I used powder graphite and tapped the key in place. Once the key was in, it became very difficult to remove. I've ended up leaving the key in the key slot and using a second key fob to lock and unlock the doors.
Paint cracking underneath clear coat.
I purchased a 2005 Ford Focus in October of 2004. After a rainstorm in November of 2005, a major leak occurred, leaving over 2 inches of water on the front, passenger floor. The dealership fixed the car. In July of 2006 I found water in the same location. After the dealership looked at the car, they stated that it is coming from a different location (not where they originally sealed it). They went on to tell me that they would have to remove my dashboard, requiring extensive labor, to locate the new cause of the leak. Unfortunately, my warranty is up because I drive far to work. I have only gone 700 miles over my limit. After speaking with many agents at the Ford motor company I find I am out of luck. A service representative said that if there were enough complaints they would have to file a recall but he has not had any yet. (I am the first. . . I â¦find that hard to believe). I went on-line to search for others in my situation. I found numerous websites with complaints of Ford Focuses leaking on the passenger floor. Please visit the following sites for additional complaints. . Read more...
After 2 complaints to dealer about rear brake vibration/noise, they found noting wrong. On our trip going down interstate 40 at 70 mph the back wheel comes off my car. The wheel and hub are broken, cuts the brake line and I lose my brake fluid. No brakes and trying to keep it out of the ditch. If there would of been a car on the side of me. I am positive there would have been injury/death. Had extended warranty. Ford paid 0. Said I hit something in road. Now at the repair shop again. The wheel bearings on the rear are frozen. I have to buy new drums for both side again.
Maybe one year or so after I bought my brand new 2002 Ford Focus zts there was a really bad storm one night and the next day my floor board on the passenger side was soaked in water almost like a puddle. Then the past couple of years it's happened again at least five more times. After taking out the floor mat an actual puddle of water gathers on my floor board when it storms. It doesn't seem to happen every single time it storms but it's happened quite a few times already. My car is only going on four years old (and I keep it clean all the time as I'm the only one in my car, I don't have any children nor am I married and therefore I am the only one in my car and take really good care of it) but it smells like it's really old with a strong mildew odor. This is very upseting, I've had so many problems with this Ford including an electrical system issue which I've already made a complaint about. I called a Ford dealership to tell them about my floor board issue and they said there is a recall for the Ford Focus 2001 but not a 2002 for this problem. This problem apparently was not fixed on the 2002's because mine is still leaking.
Today, June 24/05 my 2003 Ford Focus with 22000 miles on it, had a problem. I went to start the car, and the ignition was totally locked up. I happened to have stopped at a gas station, and the garage man gave it a try and couldnt' do anything so I called Ford roadside. La's all city tow, stopped very shortly, and told me that they knew very well that all the Focus' did this and he was able to slam on the keys just so to force the faulty ignition lock pin to turn and the car started so I was able to get it to the dealer. The head of service at hollywood Ford acknowledged that they all knew about the issue and repaired it. However by that time I had missed work. I just shudder to think about some poor person somewhere stopping in the wrong neigborhood and unable suddenly to start thier car, particularly if they have a child with them. Ford customer service rep acknowledged that there had been complaints about this issue and confirmed that no recall had been issued.
Consumer in may received a recall notice. The letter was for three or four parts. When she contacted the dealership, they didn't have the parts and they had to be ordered. They were not yet in. Consumer did not contact the manufacturer about the problem. The information on the recall, the parts or number were not available.
Ignition lock, nothing lead up to the failure its an engineering problem with the care. My brother a locksmith has dealt with this problem half a dozen times in the last year with Ford Focus. Couldn't start car had to have it towed and the entire ignition cylinder had to be replaced, costing a lot of money because it requires that all the keys be recoded and all door locks as well.
The consumer believes the vehicle had a manufacturing defect.
Water leaks from somewhere inside the car onto the passenger side floor board. The first time was in 2002. It was "corrected" by a Ford authorized dealer service department and still leaks. When ever it rains the floor board fills with water and when the water dries it smells of mildew. Loss of hundreds of dollars to remove smell. I'm not sure if I should contact a lawyer about the lemon law.
There were no events leading up to the failure of my ignition freezing up. I was running errands and after my last stop I got into the car and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition. I had several people try, including a aaa tow-truck worker. He said he sees this problem a lot in the Ford Focus, the ignition cylinder prematurely wears out and has to be replaced. The car had to be towed to the Ford dealership and is waiting for repair on Monday. To my surprise, I came and checked the internet about the problem and there is thousands of the same complaint. All are Ford Focus owners. All put a key in the ignition and the key won't turn. I find this strange that this car has the exact same problem and the customer has to pay hundreds of dollars to replace the ignition cylinder, which is obviously defected. This could be a safety concern for any Ford Focus owner. There is forewarning before the ignition freezes up, it just happens once the car is turned off. My car was only turned off for 10 minutes and it happened to me.
Bought a brand new car with 07 miles on it. At 9,000 miles, only three months after the vehicle was purchased it began to have major problems. Repeatedly returned vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased, but was greeted with refusal to fix the vehicle and poor customer service issues. Was given faulty/defective replacement vehicles as part of warranty when car was not drivable and undergoing repairs. Ford refused to fix vehicle at one point, and new dealership was involved. New dealership verified problems occuring, but were unable to diagnose and/or fix vehicle. Refuasal upon Ford motor company to buy back and/or replace the vehicle with a new vehicle. Eighteen months later, filing a lawsuit against Ford motor company with the texas lemon law at my own expense in order to find resolution to the problem.
Consumer accidentally opened up another Ford Focus door with key. There was another incident where the consumer had gone to a Ford dealership with the assistance of a Ford staff person who witnessed the consumers key open the doors, trunk, and ignition of 3 out of 3 2004 Ford Focuses. The consumer was told that it was an isolated case.
Ford of ocala sold me a bio hazard car that has ruined my life, my health, my finances, and possibly my future. They refused to do anything, ever, knowing I was beaten down, sick and forced into debt from the losses this car caused me. They knew I could not afford an attorney, so they, and the attorney general and the florida governor all just treated my issue as unimportant. . . Blew me off. This includes Ford customer care and Ford board of directors as well. . Read more...
My husband and I bought our Ford Focus in may of 2003. In sept. Of 2003 we paid it off. We have been having problems with an odor coming out of the cooling/heating system. It smells like mold/mildew. We have taken it to bob bell Ford in glen burnie, maryland on three separate occasions but to no avail. They only put some kind of deoderizer in the system that lasts a few days, and then the odor comes back again. The last time we took it there, my husband was insulted by one of the service managers. They still haven't fixed the problem. We got our car back on Saturday, 5 days after taking it to them, only to be told that the 'service manager' had it detailed, and suggested that the odor was due to the car being dirty. Granted, the car needed a good washing on the outside, but come on now, please, that won't cause an odor on the inside. It is either a condensation problem or an improper water draining problem that we are experiencing and they won't correct the problem properly. For some reason, after it rains, we smell this horrible odor when we use our cooling/heating system. It doesn't matter how many times they deodorize the system the odor comes back. It is a "health hazard" breathing this horrible odor. Hopefully filing this complaint may help our situation before we are forced to go any further. If they don't soon correct the problem , we will be calling the bbb and contacting our lawyer.

My paint is peeling on the hood of my 2000 Ford Focus.
2002 Ford Focus se wagon noticed rain water leaking into passenger compartment via heating/cooling cowling on passenger side wetting floor mat significantly till the point it was completely soggy. Checked grill between hood and windshield and noted no leaves blocking drains. Noted rubber dam not continuous, and water appeared to be leaking into engine compartment via one of these gaps and then into the heating/cooling cowling along top surface of rear of engine compartment. The fit between the cowling and the 'firewall' at the back of the engine compartment is not good, and there are gaps along the entire top surface allowing water to drain in.
Ignition - without any advance warning I tried to put key in ignition and it wouldn't go in. I after awhile I got key in, but ignition cylinder would not turn. Had to take to Ford for repair which cost $430.
The Ford Focus we purchased has been in the shop now four times for the same part to be replaced. The ignition/key problem has become an issue as the last head mechanic stated to my husband Ford would no longer replace the part because it is not under the initial warranty. We disagree because it is a Ford defective part that they put in new and has failed now four times. I just got off the phone with the repair "advisor" of the dealership where we had the work done for the past three repairs. The following repairs have occurred: August 02 installed new lock cylinder and rekeyed April 03 installed new tumbler September 03 replace key switch the above details I have taken from the invoice copies that I have. He explained the total cost including towing amounts to approximately $300. 00. Now looking at these repairs, although the same problem with the key/ignition occurs, it seems they are replacing different parts. He is confident that this problem has been fixed and should not reoccur. . . . I hope he is right! they have paid the total costs of these repairs and have also paid for towing of the vehicle. I am concerned that if this occurs again, he stated they will be unable to pay for the repair as they have done all they could do.
Key cylinder failure. Tow truck driver says he tows one Focus a week with similiar problem. Problem may be caused by heavy keyring, which mine is. Did have major engine failure that Ford fixed under warranty. Radio/clock is burning out digital display.
1)earlier this year we took our Focus in to the dealer to check the power steering. They said it just needed power steering fluid. I have been putting ps fluid in every two to three weeks. 2)we have had difficulties with our brakes, the lights staying on and then the fuses burning out. 3)then today(8-5-03) the gear shift interlock got stuck and it only works if it is pushed in to release.
Air bags deployed upon low impact and shattered windshield.
My 2003 Focus station wagon will violently shake (the entire car) at speeds above 55 - 60 mph when both rear windows are open all the way and all other windows shut, causing the driver to become alarmed at high speeds. This seems to be a design flaw w/air flow, which causes the entire car to resonate.
Ford Focus 2000 model stalls at stoplights. Also hesitates when accelerating.
Consumer struck guardrail when she tried to avoid another collision. (nar).
The tumblers in my ignition failed and there were 4 other Ford Focuses that has been towed in to a Ford place for the same reason. The key won't go all the way into the ignition to start the car and they had to replace the whole lock and key system in my car. I feel like it should be a recall on these cars ingnition switches for the tumblers failed . . My battery cable still get corroded and I thought they recalled those as well but they don't look changed at all. I recently bought a new battery and the car shakes a lot now than before. In my opinion, this car is nothing more than a piece of crap. I've only had it 3 years and it drives like I've had it 10 years. My mom has a brand new SUV bought it the same year I bought mine. Hers has more miles than mine does and hers is doing fine.
When running the ac on the car, there is an extremely bad odor which can be smelled both inside the car and out. It appears to be some kind of burning or chemical odor. It will actually affect the body by making your eyes burn and making you feel sick. It can not be driven. We have taken it to the dealership three times with the problem unresolved. The third time, we were told that the car was fixed; however, upon testing at the dealership, it was clear that the problem was unresolved. We have been told that Ford's engineers are coming in to assess the problem, as the service manager pulled three new cars off the lot and found the same problem.
Failure of manufacturer to repair car under warranty to my satisfaction.
As a result of an accident I must have both head light assemblies and the front bumper replaced on my 2001 Focus. My insurance company insists that it will only pay for after market parts, not oem parts. Further, they tell me the after market parts carry no certification that they are equal to the oem parts. I would not feel safe using parts that are safety related that cannot be certified to be of the same kind and type as originally installed. Does NHTSA have a position of the use of non-oem safety parts in the repair of an automobile?.
Nar 03/05/2003 enclosed is a copy of a invoice billed to the consumer for parts that were not installed by service dealer.
Ford Focus zx5 2002 - dramatically poor handling on slippery road surface. ? faulty braking sensor / ? poor suspension / ?? caused loss of control numerous times on flat even highway surface. On patches of ice - back end of car veers badly to left (sideways not front end). In snow covered sections back end fishtails excessively even at low speeds (20 mph). Ford service department stated that there was no cause for this problem. They were unable to reproduce the behaviour on dry clear road surface.
For the past few months my car ignition has been getting stuck, making it very difficult to start my car. This past weekend my key would not turn at all stranding my family away from home while trying to visit my grandmother in the hospital. Luckily we were not her means to get to the hospital as it seems that I have purchased an unreliable car. As I have done my research on this problem, I have discovered that it seems almost all Ford Focus owners are encountering this problem. I have even read that this is not a safety concern hence the lack of recall! I like billions of americans rely on my car in good times and bad. I hope to god that I do not have a Ford Focus if anything desperate should become of me and I need safety because apparently they don't like to even start!.
Key does not want to come out of the steering column when cold. You have to wriggle the steering wheel and the key. It has been into the dealer and they have noted the problem 4 times but can not figure it out.
After leaving my auto, I returned to find the rear window shattered, but in tact/in place. There no signs of any impact or attempted entry. The police were called and they said they could not find any evidence of anything striking the window and appeared it might be a faulty window. Upon bringing it to the dealer's sevice shop, the manager said he would notify his Ford rep of this problem. He said normally they would not do anything but since the auto was so new, he would try to see what he could do. Upon investigating if there was a Ford recall or similar regarding this problem, I came accross at least one other occassion where the window just shattered and was replaced by Ford under warranty. The individual said Ford claimed it was due to welding irregularities and such. When I was speaking to the service manager at Ford, he claimed that the 2003 Ford Focus rear defroster was changed and they had given it a higher amp to make it hotter. Since it has been about 6 dgrees outside, it could have been hot and shattered when cooling quickly - he did not know and was just searching for answers. Regardless, the auto had 440 miles on it and was only about 10 days old when this occurred. It could have been serious if this windowed shattered and blew out while driving, possibly causing harm to any passengers in the back - or anywhere for that matter. I believe this needs to be checked out to prevent any possible harm to anyone. The auto is a 2003 Ford Focus se sedan. Thank you, michael maleto.
Daughter's Ford Focus started spewing smoke via the heating vents. Then smoke came out from under the hood. Hood was opened and smoke and fire was coming out from the driver's side behind battery. I can say that Ford nor the local dealership here in clarksville, TN have done a damn thing to help. State farm insurance sent a subbrogation claim to Ford several months ago. I have heard nothing. I begged jenkins and wynn (dealership) to allow us to trade the car back in for a decent car. . . . They refused. They know what a peice of crap the car is. I actually left the car on their doorstep with the key and told them I did not want the car. . . For about 2-3 weeks. No help.
Has not been repaired yet. The ignition locked up and the key was unable to be placed into the ignition fully, nothing moved, nothing worked. Upon repeated attempts the car was finally towed and nothing has come out of it. I have heard of this happening to other 2001 Focus', but still I hear nothing of this from Ford dealerships. I also have heard rumors of numerous recalls for the 2001 Focus', but still I only find 2 released. I'm just feeling like a used consumer that has been taken advantage of.
Key does not want to come out of steering column. You have to wriggle the steering wheel and the key. You never know when this is going to happen. It has happened from day 1. It has been into parr Ford in bremerton washington 4 times for this problem, they can not find it. They have verified that it sticks.
On my way to school this evening all my electrical things in the car started flickering and then smoke started to come out of my vents. I pulled over immediatly, while someone was yelling at me get out of your car. I got out and saw that smoke was coming out of my whole entire hood area. Then it went up in flames, melting through the hood, scattering my windshield.
Car continues to shake not able to drive on highway.
2000 Ford Focus, right rear wheel bearing failure.
I lost control of my car; the back tires were uncontrollable, I was unable to keep my vehicle under control because of this great shaking/swaying from the rear of the car. After the accident I noticed that the left rear wheel was loose and askew. Because I was unable to control my vehicle, my car rolled twice down an embankment. The airbag deployed, and I received a quite substantial burn on my left wrist.
I leased a 2000 Ford Focus February 16, 2002 thinking that this was a good investment. I was wrong. I have had 3 recalls on the vehicle and yes Ford fixed them for free. Now my key is stuck in my ignition and will not come out nor turn to start the car. I do not have $500 to fix the vehicle as I am a single parent barely making ends meet. I was told that my warranty expired, therefore I would have to pay the expense. I do not have a car and because of this, I was forced to leave my job. I also have to find a ride for my 4 year old son to get back and forth to school everyday. Bad investment, I think so.
The ignition switch broke. The key would only go in half way. This happened all of a sudden, no warning. We drove the car to my wifes apartment at school to change for our daughters pre-graduation dinner and when we went back out to leave the key would not go into the ignition. This was on a Friday night and graduation was the next day at 10:30. We contacted the local marquette, Ford dealer crown motors and they had to tow the car in. The car was locked in park and the steering wheel was locked. We were not there when they towed it away but my wife was stuck in marquette until the following Thursday waiting to get the ignition replaced. The dealer said they had to drill out the old switch to remove it. The new switch was coded to our old key so that was good and the crown Ford dealer was very nice and accomodating to my wife. We were told when we bought the car from bessemer auto that this was a "program car" but found out through the internet that it was a rental car. I don\\'t think a rental car is the same as a program car. I am 67 years old and have owned many cars over the years and I have never had an ignition switch break to the point the key would not go in. At 37000 miles not good dependability. My Jeep has 143,000 and the ignition works fine and I stop and start a lot. I am almost afraid to know any more about the Focus problems. My wife really loves this car but is now very unsure of its dependability. She drives home from school at night sometimes and stops at a very remote station for a break and tea. Had this happened there she would have been in a real fix since the closest dealer either way is 80 miles.
The ignition switch froze up. Mechanic could not remove the cylinder to replace. He had to replace the steering column. It was 17 degrees outside at the time and had to wait 2 hours for help. Luckily I had a cell phone. Knock on wood, I have been very satisfied the the vehicle other than this problem. Thank you.
I tried to put the key in the ignition. It would not go in. I had to have the car towed to marshall Ford in mayfield heights, ohio from cleveland heights at a cost of $60. 00. Marshall Ford said the place the key should go in was cracked. They drilled out the ignition and installed a new cylinder. Cleaned up chips. At a cost of $267. 00? I feel this was a definite defect in this car and am asking for your help in having Ford cover this cost.

Engine check light remains on while driving. Dealer contacted. Feel free to provide any further information.
Electrical door opener will not operate while vehicle is still running. Dealer was notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
Engine check light has come on. Vehicle has not been inspected by dealer.
100% satisfaction??? we can't seem to get the Ford company to help us. My husband had chemical burns that have scarred now. No safety defect listed in summary. ( dot number: ).
I learned of a recall at the dealer's location after I had it towed in. I never received info beforehand. No safety defect listed in summary.
Dash lights flashed on and off several times then quit.
I purchased a 2000 (4dr) Ford Focus wagon se on 06/17/00 and I have had nothing but trouble ever since. Here is a list of my complaints constant clicking and screeching noise when I turn or go over a bump sounds as if the car has arthitis problems sometimes my car will not start until after 3 or 4 attempts left back window will not roll down & although I have not heard it since summer the windows make noise when operated like glass rubbing against metal lubericate all of the car doors once a month because they screech extremely loud when opened or shut I have been in almost 4 accidents because of the enormous amount of severe blind spots on both the l & r sides of the car night driving bad - the car sits at a downward angle which allows rear vehicles headlights to blind you with your own rearview and side mirrors - this makes visibility impossible & very dangerous a sour-vinegar like smell appears sometimes on 02/23/02 @ sears auto center I had to replace my tires due to bowed/buckled - odometer was at 22114 - paid out of my pocket to replace tires $508. 46 mechanic could not explain why this happened but instructed me to call Ford & get reimbursed for the tires - I was told it was normal wear and tear no reimbursement. I do not feel this is a direct tire issue but a cause issue from the car itself saftey recall 00s31 everytime I hit a puddle after rain the engine makes a screaming sound & loses some power. After take the car hesitates like it slips into neutral gear? what is going on? why is Ford not held responsible for a bad product and a total recall on the car itself? this car has numerous complaints, Ford does not give you a loaner for its bad product & the most they will say is we are sorry to inconvenience you or we apologize for this situation. I do not want their sympathy I want a car not just priced at 19,750. 97 but valued at $19,750. 97. I want a car that is safe & reliable!.

This car is the worst investment I have ever made and a friend of mine bought the same car a few months after me and hers fell apart as well. The dealer has done nothing but give both of us a hard time about these two horror cars and they dont honor the warranties we purchased with these crappy cars . I cant wait to get rid of the Ford Focus out of my drive way and neither can my friend . I hope you will investigate these cars very closely they are terrible. No safety defect mentioned in summary. ( dot number: ).
This acr is very bad news and I am fighting to get rid of it now and Ford should be investigated for selling a vehicle this unsafe and I will never purchase from Ford again. When I took this Focus in for repair I was told that since it is so new that there isnt a mechanic that really knows how to fix it and that they will get back to me when they find one that can. This is very poor service with a very poor and unsafe car. Please look into this for all the people that will have to go througfh this as well . Thank you very much. Melissa. 2007 Ford Focus. Consumer was killed in an accident. The vehicle was equipped with a black box and the lawyer has been attempting to get the manufacturer of the black box to download the rcm , but has been unsuccessful. On July 2009, the lawyer for the deceased was informed by one of the attorneys for Ford motor company, that they were in contact with the manufacturer regarding the download of the rcm information and were advised that there was no way to download that particular model in the united states and they would have to forward the unit to germany to download the information. The lawyers office still has not received any information and believed the black box manufactured by bosch is a fraud and that the black box does not maintain any information.
