Everytime I stop at either a stoplight or stop sign it stalls out. The battery light comes on and then goes back off. I am able to restart it back up and continue it on. I have had the electrical computer fixed and had a full tune up done and it still stalls out.
It was rainy day and my wife was picking my daughter from school. It happened in the school zone. The car was in motion. Kids cross road as it was end of school day. Safety of passengers and other people was in danger. I have replaced in Feb 2016 control unit and hcu spending $2400 +. At that time it had engine light on. It has again came back on 10/24/2017. Just to note, in 2010, spend $1600 + on the car because of issues in the vehicle. Had abs light on, normal driving. The car has only around 45000 miles. Rain water is causing issues. If google search done "Ford Freestar check engine light after rain", it hits lots of results. Ford know the issues. Ford even had following service bulletin. Technical service bulletin (TSB 06-14-10. ) these minivans are safety hazards. What would it take to get something done, recall or get these minivans off roads ? Ford is not taking responsibility. Please force them to own the responsibility which they are not willingly take. I have documents for the repair that was done. In 2016, when check engine light was on, I was on highway driving 50 miles an hour and it was rainy. Car was shaking and seemed like losing power. Thanks, anil.
Before it broke down completely the van was driving funny, like if it didn't have enough strength especially when I was driving hill but one night I was driving the van and suddenly just shut off in the middle off the highway. Thanks god I didn't have many cars behind me and I manage to avoid getting hit by holding my phone out the window so to be seen until I was able to "drive" to a section of road with street lights. The next day I had it towed to my mechanic because it would not start anymore. The mechanic told me there was a lot of complaints for this problem. So I don't know what are they waiting for to make this an official recall. I feel very lucky my children and wife were not in the vehicle during these past incidences. I would like a response from you on this recall matter a. S. A. P. Thank you.
Headlight lenses have faded real bad, making it unsafe to drive at night.
Problems with water getting in the ecm had 3 transmissions shop say my transmission needed rebuild so I had it rebuilt and it's still slipping between 30 and 40 mph only other thing it can be is a wet ecm transmission shop can't figure it out cost me 1600 already and still slipping got to be the ecm. This needs to be a recall I was driving down the highway and the transmission just quit working shut it off then was working again has to kill someone before it's recalled.
I was driving down the road at 45 miles an hour and vehicle cuts off. I almost had a head on collision with no control of steering. If I had been on interstate it would have been a wreck.
Van got up to 50 mph and stalled out and then completely lost power. I took it to a mechanic and he said the computer component was full of water. Computer had to be replaced.
All gauges lost power on & off each day, until today shut off for good (4-10-15). Also, at first (Dec. 2014) lost lights on inside of vehicle & did not effect outside lights until recently when outside also out. Has happened multiple times since first noticed. At first signal lights worked, but not now. Also a/c & radio do not work, plus the doors, windows do not open or close as well. The only door which opens is the drivers door with the key. Sometimes everything comes on & off by itself, (even cd player & radio, but now does not work), when I get in the car to start it. I checked my battery which was still good, and put in a new alternator this month (April), but the problem has been going on since last December. At first in Dec. The mechanic said he had to reset something, and then it was ok for a couple of months until February, 2015. Then it began to start up again, and I replaced the alternator last month (March). The noise & problems were happening at random, crackling noise uner the dashborad and under the drivers side under the sterring wheel, but then it has occurred more often. As of today 4-10-15 they are all happening, so I can not drive the van now due to the lose of the signals, lights, and not being able to open the doors or wndows. I checked under the sterring wheel and saw a tiny light going on & off and then it went off and so did everything else which was working before. The noise was around that light area near a black box. What is causing this? I feel it is dangerous to drive the van.
While driving down the road, the van will suddenly die. All alarms, engine light, abs, traction control. Will go off. Sudenly there is no power. Van will start right back up and drive again. This has been going on for over a year. I have had it at 7 different mechanics, including the Ford dealership where I purchased the vehicle. It has happened at all different speeds, 20-65, also happens if stalled at a stop light or drive-thru. Additionally, I can be driving at 25-35mph and the rpm's will shoot up to 7000 or fall all the way down like you are idleing. Vehicle makes noises like it is going to blow up and then will be fine.
The situation is very danger, the problem with the pcm issues, that share bad information with any other component in use, engine, transmission, lights, ac system, low battery or not turn on even with new battery, and the wires and connectors clean. The most dangerous is just stop running in middle of traffic, or some mechanic did not have idea about the problem, even the sarasota Ford mechanics. A few weeks a go I left the car for 2 days, present in my opinion transmission mal-function, after they charge me $140, no problems solved, and they say the technician report : needs engine work before transmission diagnostics. Needs cam syncro assy. (fix whinning noise) I agree ok. Need a sensor asy ??????? connect a little metal wire on top engine (they call bush. . . . . ???) after that all the problems still happening all the time. If you have any answer about all this, or place to go and get a real inspection and report. From now and forever, thank you very much.
While my husband was on his way home from work he came upon a red light. When the light turned green again he attempted to accelerate but the van would not move. He turned the ignition off and then on again and the van still would not move. All of this occured without any warning, no lights flashing or any kind of unusual sounds. After having it towed to the dealer we purchased the vehicle from we were told that the van had an electrical problem that needed to be handled at the Ford dealer. Now what I have been told is that the electronic computer module was the problem and needed to be replaced. This repair cost us $1200 dollars after having the van for just under five months. We are paying close to $13,000 for this van and were not able to drive it safely for at least six months without repair. Someone should protect the consumer a little better than they are. This is devastating for my family considering this is our first vehicle and we are still unexperienced with the was dealers prey on their potential customers, Ford should be ashamed of how they treat the people who are the one's who keep them in business. I think people should take a stand to refrain from purchasing Ford vehicles until they take consumer safety seriously. There should also be a law which states that any used car dealer disclose recall information to the potential buyer before a contract is entered into. The type of problem that we have could have ended in serious injury or death had this happened on the highway.
I had a torque converter replaced 4 days ago on my van due to a recall and 4 days after repair my car shuts down in the middle of driving. Now the Ford dealer is telling me it has nothing to do with the torque converter which I find impossible since I haven't had any other issues before with my car just your basic brake repairs.
Was driving the vehicle going down the highway at 60mph and the vehicle started to act up pulled over and it shut down completely security light started to flash real rapidly turned the key to start it again and nothing had to have it towed 300. 00 worth and has been broke down for four months been trying to start it ever since and nothing there is defiantly something wrong with the electrical system.
Driving and the car shut down: no power steering, no power brakes, nothing worked. There were no warning lights or other indication of failure. Was able to steer to the side of the road and stop vehicle using emergency brakes.
Van started acting like the key was being turned off and on. Misfire was so bad that van was like riding a bucking bronco. Pulled to the side several times as I thought we would not make it home. Got home from Sunday diner and took to local dealer the next day on 6/20/11. Installed 1f1z 6b288 ba sensor. Back to dealer on 6/28/11. Installed 164r4901 foam strip along with sealant. Back to dealer on 7/5/11. Installed. Installed xl3z 9f472 aa sensor. To independant repair shop on 12/2/11. Installed yfiz-7h103aa sensor. Back to same repair shop. Installed 5f2z12a650 bc pcm module. That seemed to resolve the problem as van is running better than for the last 2 years.
In 2010 for no reason the traction control light was coming on. After 2 visits to the dealer they replaced the abs module and switch on the master cylinder. The problem seemed to be resolved but once in a while the light would come on. Now it is happening more frequently and the abs activates for no apparent reason (dry road and normal braking) which I consider a safety hazard.
Check tires & traction control off light comes on daily.
