Transmission is slipping not getting power when gas is pressed down rpms are jumping not going into gear. Making a terrible sound in park. Passenger door not closing.
The wrench light and check engine light come on out of nowhere and the car isn't drivable. We keep repairing things but then it comes up with different codes.
We used the remote to unlock the door and the driver side mirror immediately caught on fire. Engine was not started and door was never opened. We blew the fire out. Does not appear to have harmed any other electrical parts except the mirror. Very strange. Odometer reading is only 63099 original miles.
My car surges and the rpms move without touching the gas. It tries to throw me into traffic when at stoplights and stop signs. It tries to throw me at people when driving slowly through parking lots. I have to put my car into neutral while at stops so that my family or other family's don't die because of a malfunction that Ford had with the car when they sold it. I was never told about the malfunction and they say I'm years past the warenty and 20000 miles past the warenty milage. So because my car is 20000 over I guess it's okay for my car to kill me and my children or other people?.
The driver side passenger door seal is faulty, letting water get into the door causing it to freeze and rust. The electrical for the driver heated seat keeps malfunctioning causing it to keep breaking. The levers that flip the second and third row seating have become faulty and will no longer work. Lastly, the all-wheel drive component on my vehicle stopped working while I was driving. It was during the winter and the roads were icy so it caused me to have less traction and fish tail.
Anytime it rains my vehicle fills with water. I have mold starting in my vehicle. I took it to Ford dealership for recall work but it still leaks horrible bad. This car is mostly stationary. We have had rain the last two days and it has been sitting in the drive way. I checked it today and it is full of water. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle in 2013.
Throttle body in car check engine and wrench lights come on , the vehicle will not move even when put in gear I have to let car warm up for at least 45 min then cut car off n on a couple times the rpm not moving speedometer not moving.
I was backing out of angle parking space. As I backed I bumped concrete pole. As I put car in drive to go forward the accelerator stuck wide open. I had no control of speed. I sped forward approximately 20 feet and crashed into the back of a parked pick-up. Police were called. I was only bruised and sore. I did see a dr. And will continue to do follow up. My insurance CO. Totaled the car. It was very damaged on the driver side. Someone could of been killed in this accident. My description does not adequately describe the seriousness of this incident. Police and others could not believe I was not severely hurt. If theses cars are not recalled it is only a matter of time until someone dies if they have not already .
Starting up truck thr wrench ligjt comes on while it idles. If I try driving it runs horrible. I have to shut it off and restart and quickly throw it into reverse or drive to avoid idling. By the number of complaints I have read about the same issue , Ford needs to deal with this and recall the Freestyles. What a shame as I love my truck. May never by a Ford product again if this is not resolved. Not holding my breath as it seems Ford doesn't care since there a lot of others with Freestyles with the exact problem.
Engine lost power while driving on the garden state pkwy. No engine lights came on it hesitated to accelerate after leaving a toll booth and kicked off. I was told the car had a cylinder that was not firing and I needed a new engine. Upon the dealership pulling the engine they verified the engine was well maintained by me and the cause of the cylinder blow out was due to the timing chain blowing apart. My son could have been killed . Their was no engine light warning no transmission light and he had to cross over 4 lanes of high speed traffic to get to the shoulder of the garden state pkwy. I had the engine replaced and 6 weeks later upon picking up the vehicle it now has a transmission problem the day I picked up the car it would not accelerate over 60mph for me to enter traffic. It still does not climb steep hills. The car revs in rpms to 5 and feels like it it now getting air or fuel. When driving on flat surfaces transmission shifts fine. Help.
We have a 2006 Ford Freestyle I was driving on the highway at 70 miles per hour and the car lost all power. I pulled over shut the car off and than say awhile and started back up and it started going again fine. A few miles down the road it did the same. Thank god I was near a auto body shop after pulling over 6 times anyway mechanic said that the throttle body is bad. I looked this up and noticed there was a major issues with Ford and this part. As far as I know there has not been a recall when we asked. But I have seen many complaints about this is many cars. This is very dangerous and lots have complained about the safety. As you have no idea that the car will randomly stop. I could have been killed on that highway. Somoene needs to do something about this!.
Car was parked for about 10 minutes after running without issue for 20 minutes. When starting again from the parked position, car lost all power steering. Within the 2. 1 mile/6 minute ride that followed, the power steering never returned. Checking under the hood revealed serpentine belt failed in a clean break. The car was not driven prior to replacing the belt the next day. Once the belt was installed, a quick run through the system functions included running the a/c. All systems seem functional until the a/c is activated. Within 3 seconds of starting a/c, observed audible motor sound followed by all power failed (full shut-down). Turned off engine, removed key, waited 60 seconds, all was good until again turning on the a/c, when symptom of system failure (audible motor sound change) occurred again, a/c was turned off right away, and engine and all other systems operated as expected.
I have had a few problems with the car lurching forward as I am coming to a stop. The most recent thing was as I was leaving a parking lot my rpms went up to 5 and the engine got really loud my car jumped forward 3 times almost hitting the car in front of me! I took it in where it has to sit at a dealer ship for a couple of days with no rental coverage. Also they said it is under a special extended warranty for rpm surge but if it will not do it for them I have to pay $100. 00! I dont understand how this car is not being recalled!! I read that someone hit a person because of this problem and their has been several accidents.
While backing out of a parking place, the car lunged and I had no control. This has also happened in the forward gear. Finally the brakes did work. This time the lurch was significant enough that the car actually stalled out on me. I restarted the car and started to drive it home and the car had no get up an go. Ran very sluggish with no power. Took the car to auto shop where I was told it would need a new transmission. Called Ford dealership was informed that a new transmission would cost $6200. 00. Can not afford this, but it is unsafe to drive as well as unsafe for my teenage daughters to drive for their leaner's permit. What are my options????.
I stopped at a stop light and my car would not function when I went to go, motor was running but vehicle wouldnt go.
As I was driving to take my children to school I was pulling forward on a parking spot and all of a sudden it started accelerating like if I was pushing the gas but I was not I was pushing on the brake. On a separate occasion I was going to the store with my children and the same thing happen I was about to pull into a parking spot and it started plunging forward I was pressing on the brake and it wouldn't do a thing. This issue has been happening for about a month. The wrench light comes on and when I turn of the car it disappears so when I take it to a mechanic they don't find anything wrong with it I did research with the Ford Freestyle and their is a lot of people with this same issue, they all say about the throttle. I'm very concern that one of this day something worst may happen and I'm with my children please do something about this before something worst happens to people.
May 16, 2014, Friday night, around 7:30 pm, lost consciousnesses while driving during very humid quick weather change period. Immediately put on a/c and recirc on high while driving vehicle to clear windows. I then picked up my son and friend, proceeded to drive them home from place and within 500 feet was into a telephone pole when I lost consciousness. My son tried to slap me in the face as he noticed I has drifting to the right. I did not regain consciousness until police/fire broke window to extract occupants. Policeman was hitting me in the face to wake me and finally did, once I did com to, I didn't really care that he was slapping me in the face ior that I was still in the vehicle. Within minutes of standing, I felt much better but chose to take ambulance on scene to hospital where they didn't find anything wrong in er. Accident occured while driving on main secondary road at less than 30 mph. I went to many doctors and they can not find anything with even mris, cat scans, sleep tests, etc. . .
As outlined in the class action lawsuit against Ford filed in California, our car experienced a "sudden and unexpected cvt transmissions failure". This resulted in a "sudden loss of forward propulsion and delayed acceleration" when merging onto a 40 mph street. The check engine light, the wrench light and the traction control dash lights came on and the engine experienced high rpm's with little forward movement. We took the problem to authorized Ford dealer who recommended repairs to the computer system costing us $2,000 even though it knew about the systemic transmission defect the Ford general manager stated in a phone call this morning (6 13 2014) his service department has had two other Ford Freestyles in their shop presenting the exact issues as our car. Following Ford protocol resulted in a "final" diagnosis of transmission failure. Point being, the local Ford dealership admittedly had prior knowledge of the cvt transmission failures yet did not relay that information to us at the onset of the systemic defect. The vehicle sits in our driveway. It is not safe to operate as we elected not to replace the defective cvt transmission at a quoted cost of $5,000 plus installation.
I recently purchased a 2006 Ford Freestyle. Shortly thereafter, my vehicle was diagnosed with a growing problem with the cvt transmission. As I started inquiring about repairs, I found that most places, including some Ford dealerships, could not or would not do this repair. This was due to everything from having tried to repair these and the repairs not working (even when done by Ford's guidelines), parts not being available from Ford, and the list goes on. In doing more research, I discovered this is a very common issue with these Ford cvt transmissions, even to the point of Ford acknowledging the issue through TSB's. However, in all of Ford's recognition of the issue, there has been no recall to actually fix the issue. This has put me in the position of countless other owners, facing a steep repair of many thousands of dollars for an issue that Ford knows about but will not take responsibility for.
As of this part Friday, I had the motor mount torque insert replaced. There was bad shifting, lunging & loss of gas mileage for the past few months. I have noticed that this was not happening in the cooler weather; just since it has gotten hotter & having to run the a/c on maximum. The car was lunging by itself in reverse & drive. Drove it home; did great. Ran alot of errands today & the emission/transmission light came on; vehicle stalled, no compression. A bit of whining (transmission issues) I will get it into the mechanic Monday a. M. , but from previous comments from other owners, this is a common problem. Again, definitely not a good thing w/a 2 1/2 year old in the vehicle almost all the time. Checked to see if any recalls & Ford says nothing. Looks as though the last update was in the end of 2012. Maybe Ford is going to pull this together & take care of business. This is a great car other than that.
The vehicle was idle while I was waiting to enter into traffic and it lunged forward multiple time. I shut the car off and when I started it again it did not respond when I placed it in drive or reversed. After that it seems to lunge forward whenever it wants to without any reason. I started to read about related issues on line and how owners were contact about this possible issue but I was not. This is a very big safety issue.
Ford Freestyle lunges when im off of park in both drive and reverse.
Affected part: throttle body. Two yrs ago we had our car repaired for a throttle body issue ¿ our car was lunging forward aggressively and sometimes stalled. It was a terrible safety issue, b/c it was also happening when my foot was on the brake. There was no recall at that time when we took the car to one Ford dealership. They repaired the throttle body and the car ran for 2 yrs without the same problem. Unfortunately, here we are 2 yrs later, & our car is at another Ford dealership ¿ the throttle body needs to be replaced. We have spent so much already, and now we have to pay $1700 to fix the throttle body & also the alternator. There are so many Ford Freestyle owners who have had this same issue ¿ why hasn't a recall been issued? I just found out today that there was a customer service satisfaction program for just a cleaning back in Nov 2012. I did not receive this letter, but it will not help us anyway since the throttle body is no longer usable.
The Freestyle cut out on the interstate. Luckily it was in the breakdown lane and no cars were coming. An 8 year old was in the car as well. After spending $1200 on repairs the Freestyle still leaks, and is having the same problems with cutting out, leaking into the car and all the lights coming on. We have spent over $1200 to fix, and the car still has the same problems. The dealership wants us to spend another $1000, and they can not guarantee that will fix the problem, as another Freestyle here in boone has had the same issues.
March of 2013 one of the 5 transmissions replaced . Lunging at low speeds , not shifting gears , dying, error codes wrench light comes on , this has occured with every incident which eventually lead to transmission failure everytime.
It was below freezing out and some of my passenger doors would not open and the one that did open would not close again. I see that there is a recall on this part for the 05 Freestyles but Ford will not perform the recall fix on my 06 Freestyle because the build date does not match the recall specifications. The recall I am referring to is 06s45. My car was built a week or two after the end of that specific recall event. I am experiencing the same door lock issues in cold climate. Ford refuses to fix this safety issue forcing my family into unsafe situations when it is cold.
Transmission went out at 50,000 miles apx. After googling I found this is common with this car. I also am currently dealing with what I think its a throttle body issue. I did a search on edmunds. Com and found a 12 page thread of people have similar issues. The car with revved up and lurched backwards and also forwards which is very scary and dangerous. I've had issues with getting the car to go above a certain speed as well. I will put the car into reverse and ease my foot off the brake and not even touch the gas pedal and fly backwards. I am terrified that one of these days I will not be able to stop the car. I am going to have it fixed but from reading others experiences it only solves the problem for a year or two and then they are back to the start again. It seems even this website has over 5 pages of complaints don't you think it is time to do something?.
On increasingly frequent occasions, my 2006 Ford Freestyle sel fwd vehicle has surged (or lunged) during very low/0 speed maneuvers, such as turning into, or backing out of a parking space/garage; queuing up in a right or left turn lane, or waiting at a stop light/sign for traffic to clear; or navigating tight passages, I. E. , parking garage exit lanes and drive-through lanes. The problem seems to be exacerbated by hot weather and/or a/c operation and/or steering wheel movement. This problem had occurred prior to 9/6/2011, but with very rare frequency. Now however, I am experiencing this problem on an almost daily basis. I am deeply concerned that there is a real safety issue developing with this model. If I don't have my foot firmly planted on the brake, the car can surge (fairly rapidly) forward or backward a good 10 - 20 feet.
Incidents of unexpected vehicle movement when the driver's foot is not on the accelerator.
Car was stopped at a red light, while releasing brake pedal, car surged forward on its own. This took place at three consecutive stoplights in one afternoon. One week later, backing car up in parking lot, when brake pedal was released, car surged backward on its own. When changing from reverse to forward, car engine died. Waited a few moments and car restarted. Wrench light on dash was then on. Took to dealership and they replaced etb electronic throttle body.
I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle that has recently started "lurching" forward, despite having the brake pedal depressed. This seems to occur at low speeds (I. E. - parking a car). The issue seems to appear more frequently when the car/temperature is hot.
When putting the vehicle in gear it accelerates on it's on. The car killed , when I started it back emissions light came on. Vehicle would not accelerate when I pressed the gas pedal, but it would gradually pickup speed if I held the pedal down.
Vehicle is lunging forward while in park and also the transmission. There has not been an accident involving this vehicle yet but the way it is going it is a matter of time.
2006 Fordfreestyle. Vehicle acts to stall and then jumps forward. Backing out and turning on my ac and lunges forward and backwards. Thought it was a gas issue and used cleaner for tank and still happened several times randomly. Would slow at a stop light and then jump forward. Pressed the brake pedal to stop it from moving. No mishaps. Just concerned what was making it do this.
My 2006 Ford Freestyle suffers from peeling paint on the aluminum hood. The paint issue is confined to the 3 - 4 inches of hood back from the leading edge, the leading edge, and the underside of the hood. Same issue as any Ford product with aluminum hoods/liftgates. Ford would not fix this issue under warranty even though their internal documents dating back to 2004 confirm the issue.
