Six problems related to suspension have been reported for the 2006 Ford Freestyle. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2006 Ford Freestyle based on all problems reported for the 2006 Freestyle.
2006 Ford Freestyle, 140,000 miles. Car is in good shape except for the front engine cradle/ subframe rusting out. I believe Ford issued a recall on the 2001-2004 escapes for the same issue, they should step up to remedy this issue on the Freestyle also.
Vehicle was discovered to have severe rust on front frame assembly drivers side during routine maintenance on today's date. It appears this has been an issue for some time and has just became painfully apparent. The corrosion/rust/deterioration occurs directly below an area where the air conditioning system dispenses later/condensation. Erosion to structural support is so bad it has eaten away bottom, sides and top of frame assembly. Sometimes known as an engine cradle. In order to replace, the engine must be moved and other front end components removed from vehicle. It is the opinion of complainant that this rust issue could result in a dangerous condition for the driver of the vehicle, the occupants of the vehicle as well as other motorists on the road and the general public. It is also the opinion of the complainant that this rust issue could result in the structural ability to suspend the engine. Possibly resulting in misalignment of key components or moving parts and could result in excessive wear and damage to other components of the automobile. It is also the opinion of the complainant that the rust issue and weakening of front end support members could possibly impact steering, tire life, tire pattern on roadway during hazardous conditions, etc. Ford motor company appears to have similar rust/chassis/frame issues on other models of vehicles after doing quick search online regarding this issue and comparing photographs. Ford motor company has issued recalls for other rust/frame/chassis issues, but not for the Ford Freestyle.
The subframe is rusted beyond repair. I am aware that between the years 2001 and 2004 Ford motors had the same issue and recalled the vehicles.
I was driving to work and the car just stopped. . It would not come back on, it would not turn over with the key, so I had to tow it home it will move 12 inches forward and backward.
Vehicle would not slow as exit off freeway, rpms increased against braking system. Very dangerous and would not slow. Almost lost control of vehicle. Also, continues to worsen, lungin forward and in reverse.
In 2006 we purchased a new Ford Freestyle. At three months I took it to have the oil checked and I was told my tires were bald,Ford gave us new tires. Since then I am getting ready to put my forth set of tires on the car. I have talked to several people who have the same car and they all have had the same problem. We took it to a Ford dealer and they told us there was no way to align it, we then took it to our personal mechanic and he checked it and said there was no way to align it then the other day I took it to a tire place and they said they do not even sell a kit to align it. What can I do ?.
