Under carriage is completely rotten floor boards ,shock mounts, rear frame. Garage on lunenburg st. In fitchburg,MA said that it was so rotten that he couldn't find a safe spot to put the car on the lift to do exhaust work. Put in a complaint in sept 2023 with NHTSA id number 11544728. I explained to them that I had contacted Ford motor CO. And Ford didn't want to hear it. This car is problematic. Transmission does not shift properly. This vehicle never had a recall. There is dozens of consumer complaints. This vehicle is a hazard on the road and is very expensive to repair. Under carriage is unrepairable making this vehicle junk.
I had an oil change for vehicle. Service technician listed on report of vehicle that the subframe has several holes in it and a long crack along the seam . It was serviced by the facility that does my servicing so I believe that qualifies as a dealer. I transport four children back and forth to school and am very concerned about the vehicle “ falling apart!” I understand that the taurus and the freestar have the same subframe and those have been recalled. I would think that the Freestyle should be recalled also. There were no warning lights or messages related to this problem. I have now reported this and am asking you to take action to repair this problem. Thank you!.
Front crossmember/subframe that supports the motor and transmission as well as connects controls arms for both front wheels rusted out almost causing an accident due to loss of vehicle control.
Well I noticed this issue a couple months ago, I bought the car back in July of 2019 with 123,000 miles. Whenever I go to park or reverse with the a/c on or anything my car lunges without me even touching the acceleration and I have to slam on the brakes not to hit anything. And today I reversed out of a parking spot and it lunges as usual and when I started driving down the road a wrench light flashed on and I wasn't getting as much acceleration as usual. I've been researching and this seems to be a problem a lot of people have had with this car. It just scares me with it lunging and speeding up on its own in drive thrus, parking lots/spots, and simply when I'm sitting and turn my wheel just a little bit it decides it wants to accelerate on its on! all this happened mostly when I just start driving, or pulling in somewhere or reversing, and sometimes when I'm stationary at a drive thru.
When the car is parked it likes to exhilarate and if you're on pressing on the break it wants to exhilarate.
My 2007 Ford Freestyle sel stalled out on me when I was on the interstate and a wrench light came on I put a new throttle body on it and also new transmission filters and changed the transmission fluid.
My Freestyle accelerators/ lunges forward for "no reason" when I'm pushing on brake to park. This has happened numerous times at grocery store, wal-mary etc. Last Tuesday was the scariest. I was with my mom driving to the bank and as I was parking it accelerated much more than it normally does. We hopped the curb and almost crashed into the bank wall. My foot was on the brake! I have seen several mechanics who have no clue and can't find anything wrong. I went immediately to seen another recommend seasoned mechanic who said he had no idea what it could be and saw nothing wrong. I'm scared to drive my cat or even park it. I only park away from other cars now. If someone would have been in front of my cat at the bank, they would have been seriously injured. I googled the problem and saw other people had reported the same thing and I'm hoping that you guys can tell me what the issue was since there were numerous other complaints. Thank you so much for your time.
The car is self accelerating!! it is very scary. It does it when I am on drive trying to slow down and stop or when I have been parked and try to backup slowly to move in reverse. It therefore, happens mostly at red lights, stop signs, and in parking lots. I am terrified the car will run over a person crossing the street or walking behind my car in a parking space. When the car self accelerates, it does it suddenly and forcefully. In that split second I slam on the brakes to avoid running over a crossing pedestrian or winding up at crossroads and cause an accident. When I step on the brakes, the car shakes and dies. I have to quickly restart the car again. This constant dying and restarting of the car at red lights and parking lots had drained my battery. This exact self accelerating problem happened in 2011. It was "fixed" at the maxwell Ford dealership in 5000 south I-35 78745. They said it was the throttle. I had a new ac compressor put in recently and suddenly the problem came back. The last four years the ac has not worked well. I wonder if there is a a connection between the proper functionality of both parts - the throttle and the ac. I am desperate to have it repaired again, and of course at no expense of mine since it has been obviously a continuous factory/design defect. Please help, I have less than $200 in my account and I depend on my car for my livelihood.
Our 2007 Ford Freestyle is lunging when it is idling or at low speeds, especially when you turn the steering wheel. This happens in forward and reverse. It has been happening increasingly for the past few months. There has not been an accident yet, but several close calls. It is difficult to control and not always predictable. We are very cautious where we park and try to avoid parking next to cars(nearly impossible) and especially expensive vehicles because it is likely this will cause us to hit another vehicle at some point.

My 2007 Ford Freestyle is at a local Ford dealer in need of another transmission the last one they put in was bad. So my car has been at the dealers and is still there. I took it in on 4/28/2015. Ford is giving me the run around.
I purchased this vechile 01/20/15 from a used lot in raleigh nc, ''something you should never do in the first place''. I had just got off maternity leave and I needed a car so I could be able to get to work. On the 4th of April 2015. I was driving the car on the highway when it started to jerk back and make a very loud roaring sound. The car started to slow down and jerk back and forth if you went over 20 miles per hour. I pulled over to check the car and I could not figure out what was wrong with it so I called my husband and he came. The car could still drive but very slowly while making the same sound so he drove very slowly behind me. Keep in mind I had my two month old in the back seat when all of this craziness was happening. Next day I couldnt even drive the car because of the poor condition it was in. When we took it to a specialized mechanic for this cvt transmission it has, they notified us after waiting four to five hours to replace this unique engine it would cost $4-$6,000 dollars. That is insane to have to replace the entire transmission after only having it for two months and to replace it because ''Ford'' is too cheap and inconsiderate to not recall this piece of crap of a car. How can Ford ignore this issue that it is causing world wide. It is not just one or two minor issues it is the entire transmission that needs to be replaced. Wake up Ford!! this is a terrible vehicle to sell to the american people!! I wouldn't even sale this vechile in foreign countries!! my advice to anyone is to never ever buy any Ford vehicles!! this was a nightmare!!.
Helicopter noise started in December 2014. You hear the whirling sound in park neutral and reverse- sounds fine in drive. Driving fine. No loss of power this vehicle gets driven about 100 miles a day. Last week had dealer look and tell me the torque converter about to break. Can only fix it with complete new tranny install. $6300!!! took it to independent transmission guy and tells me same thin with lower price. 2 hours later after I stopped car and went into store and started car up and the wrench was lit up on dash. No power. Revving really high. Bucking and undriveable. Got a code reader and code p042-hydraulic pressure unit came up let car sit for 30 mins then turned car on and wrench display gone! moved car out of road to safety and there it sits. Should I be fixing a car that cannot be guaranteed to never do this again as all cvt transmissions do this? how can Ford be ok with this? my vehicle is amazing and roomy and safe and I hate to think its ready for the junkyard at 140k. So disappointed with Ford. Please join me in hopes that Ford will step up to the plate and acknowledge this.
With the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle will lurch forward when putting in forward gear. Vehicle stalled while driving and also when making turns in residential area. Almost hit another vehicle because the power steering went out.
The vehicle surges forward or backward -- has done for a while. Noticed a marked increase when running the ac when researching this - I also became aware that this has been an issue for many years with this vehicle as per previous NHTSA complaints. I will reference one pe11018.
The car suddenly started making noise then a wrench light shortly after came on and motor/ transmission maybe reves very high and can't drive it.
My wife & I were visiting a friends house with my wife driving. She put the van into reverse to leave with her foot on the brake. It suddenly took off at a high rate of speed & would not stop even with both feet on the brake. We shot out the driveway at high speed & continued down the roadway until my wife lost control & crashed into a ditch; the only thing that stopped the van was hitting a large rock. This of course caused damage to the passenger side rear quarter panel. My wife suffered a small cut to her calf; I was uninjured. We were very lucky there were no other vehicles in the roadway at that time or it could have been very dangerous !! my wife is so shook up by this incident that she now refuses to drive her van.
Only when the ac is on does the car lung/accelerate when I brake and come to a stop. It has also stalled out on me when I have come to a stop in traffic (when ac is on). Luckily it has restarted but what about next time. Please help. Its expensive to repair. I bought it used from a used car dealer, now it makes sense why they were so quick on approving me for the loan for that vehicle. I am still paying it off ($300 monthly) so paying for repairs is out of my budget for sure. Is there a recall?.
Over the last couple of years, I've noticed that the vehicle would jump a little when shifted into gear. Occasionally, the same little lurch would happen at a stoplight. Today, while stopped at idle the engine repeatedly revved over the course of about 10 seconds causing the vehicle to jump forward even with the brakes applied. Shortly after, a similar problem occurred, but not as pronounced as the previous event. After the incident, the performance of the engine seemed to have degraded and the vehicle was only able to accelerate very slowly.
When I have the car in park and am ready to reverse or drive forward, it seems like it wants to take off on its own before I even let go of the brake or give it gas. This can cause an accident to occur without me having an control over it. This is not safe!!.
I just bought this car yesterday. It idles sporadically on park (often dies from surging) and lunges severely on drive and reverse. I have to avoid parking in front of other vehicles to prevent hitting them as my vehicle will shoot forward immediately even with my foot off the break. I have to hit the breaks firmly and quickly. It feels like the car has a mind of its own and revs hard at the most inconvenient times. I'm very afraid this will cause an accident!.
My 2007 Ford Freestyle has had idling problems since about 80,000 miles. It currently has 94,000 and the dealership would only clean the throttle body despite numerous complaints on this type of vehicle. I have also had replaced several break pads/ calipers/ tires as they seem to ware very easily. I've replace my right side caliper twice already. The last time my car started smoking on a highway out of no where as it seized up. Also after driving for 20-30 min my car starts making a whining noise as slowing down an turning. Steering fluid has been checked and is ok. Possibly the cvt which I have very recently found out I' m far from the only one with this problem. This vehicle appears to have defective parts which are causing safety issues and I want it addressed .
Everytime I have the a/c on in my vehicle (2007 Ford Freestyle) I put the car in drive or in reverse the vehicle lunges forwards or backwards. I almost hit a car while I was trying to park. If a child had been walking behind the vehicle I could of seriously hurt them. I do not want to be held accountable for an accident like this when this vehicle should be recalled for repairs before this happens if not to me someone else. This happens everytime I have the a/c on. Now the engine light and wrench is on and I am afraid to drive it.
When the car is running during warm weather it lurches forward while driving forward or backwards when in reverse. I have to keep my foot close to the brake to keep from hitting anyone or another car. The car often stalls when this happens. Ford did a recall on my vehicle and had the throttle cleaned for free. However that did absolutely nothing and the problem continues. I called customer service and was told they would not do anything about it.
The car is lunging when I initially put it in reverse and when put in drive, it usually happens when I have driven it for a while and mostly happens when it is hot outside. While sitting parked with the engine running for a few minutes, I put it in drive, the engine revved and it literally lunged forward about 5 ft. , I pressed the brake and it died. It took a few minutes to restart it. I did take it to the dealer in 2009 and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. In may of 2010, I took it to the dealer again and they repaired a harness they said may have been chaffed and possibly grounding out at the right side of firewall but also stated that it may still have problems and they were right. Last year, the lunging started again but not a lot and now, the problem has resurfaced once again. I have researched and have found numerous other Freestyle owners with the same problems. I am concerned that I might hit another car when in a parking lot or reverse into something or someone. It is hard to believe that Ford has not put a recall on whatever is wrong with the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The vehicle has continental touringcontact as tires, size 205/65r15. The contact stated that her tires became worn and the tread became bald very quickly. The tires only had 25,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and they stated that the dill valve stems were recalled. The vehicle has tech International, model tr413 valve stems. Air continued to leak from the tires due to the valve stems and the contact had to refill them with air each week. She purchased two rear tires for her vehicle. The two front tires have not yet been replaced. The manufacturer has not been notified. The valve stem equipment information was unavailable. The current mileage was 25,021 and failure mileage was 25,000.
