When temperature get below freezing car doors will not latch shut and come back open. Car doors work fine when temp are higher. There is a recall already for this NHTSA# 06v383000 Ford# 06545. I have a Ford case# xxx my car was not included in recall and either should be or needs to be further investigated. I don't want my kids falling out while I go down the highway and I can't wait 45 min for the car to warm up. This had done this all last winter and is doing it again and Ford refuses to do anything. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Under carriage is completely rotten floor boards ,shock mounts, rear frame. Garage on lunenburg st. In fitchburg,MA said that it was so rotten that he couldn't find a safe spot to put the car on the lift to do exhaust work. Put in a complaint in sept 2023 with NHTSA id number 11544728. I explained to them that I had contacted Ford motor CO. And Ford didn't want to hear it. This car is problematic. Transmission does not shift properly. This vehicle never had a recall. There is dozens of consumer complaints. This vehicle is a hazard on the road and is very expensive to repair. Under carriage is unrepairable making this vehicle junk.

Took the vehicle in to local Ford for 120000 mile service and was informed the subframe was rusted and starting to separate. The part is no longer available and maybe they could find a used one as they have had to do in other cases. Not sure why just the front subframe is bad and no other part of the frame structure also the car has had rustproofing done on it. Reading on the internet this seems to be a common problem with these subframes.

While driving on the highway, the Ford Freestyle had a sudden jolt/wiggle during a long sweeping turn to the left. Continued driving home for 200 miles without issues. The driver's rear wheel appeared crooked (splaying out) afterwards. Car was brought in for inspection and the rear subframe was broken. Mechanic noticed large amount of rust. Car has 161k miles.
Car doors will not relatch in freezing temps. The car was stationary but was unsafe to drive after the car door was initially opened. If I drive to work and the temp drops it will be unsafe to drive. I see that this model was recalled for this reason but my VIN was not. Obviously should have been. The dealership applied a lubricant (at my expense) but that did not work.
Door latches freeze open in cold weather as described in NHTSA campaign id 06v383000. The doors have failed to latch when entering the car as well as in motion at 50mph. A search of the cars VIN shows no open recalls however the car has not been serviced for this issue but clearly falls under the recall. Recall noticed was never received for this issue. This is a one owner car purchase and registered in ohio so it is unclear why it would not be covered by this recall. Ford has also stated that this car is not covered by the recall. This is extremely dangerous as the issue can occur when the car is in motion.
Anytime the weather drops below 40 degrees, which it most often does during the winter months in MA, my door locks freeze. It could be right when I start the car or while I'm driving, it's very sporadic. I can open the doors, but they will not close again, which is clearly very dangerous if you're driving and the door latches don't hold because of ice. It seems almost every other car that is my year, make and model have been recalled for the same problem, but for some reason mine has not! not sure what to do, it's my only transportation. Throw my kuds in & just hope for the best while we're out driving?.
Went for a state inspection in August. The car passed, however, the mechanic said the undercarriage had large amount of rust which could make passing in future years difficult. I finally had time to bring to body shop. On lift, mechanic showed me significant rust. Said he couldn't do anything and would be in thousands to fix. Car has approximately 59,900 miles and has been meticulously maintained. . Read more...

The contact stated that it was not until the cabin temperature warmed up before the doors could be securely closed. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. My front driver side door does not shut in cold weather. The locks stick on, and the door bounces back open when I try to shut the door. I paid to have the door locks replaced, a few years ago. The issue still happened on almost every cold day. Around 15f to 32f. The Ford dealer who replacement the locks, got new locks covered under the lock warranty, but this issue still happens. It has been an ongoing problem for 4 years. I am forced to drive with a driver side door that does not close. I have to hold the door closed with my hand until the door locks decide to unstick and I can close the door. The Ford dealer cannot get this problem solved or fixed even after 4 years and many many many trips back to the dealer with this issue.
Last winter the door latches froze and would not stay shit. I had to bungee the 2 rear doors together. So I did research found there was a recall for that issues back in 2006. The number on the old letter was who I contacted. The lady went on to say they will not cover the recheck of issue or re-perform the recall. So I said so what your saying is since you are saying you cannot fix the issue and doors malfunction I could open a lawsuit! she said " yes "! I immdietaly went to my local Ford dealer and the advisor there said that the recall has never been performed in my vehicle. Winter is just around the corner and I would my children to be safe in the back seat and not have to worry about them. While I was at my local Ford dealer they had one kit left in stock but not exactly sure on how to perform it and will attempt if necessary but would rather have it done correctly and professionally.
Anytime it rains my vehicle fills with water. I have mold starting in my vehicle. I took it to Ford dealership for recall work but it still leaks horrible bad. This car is mostly stationary. We have had rain the last two days and it has been sitting in the drive way. I checked it today and it is full of water. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle in 2013.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that the front passenger and both rear doors fail to latch in cold weather. In cold weather the front driver side door will not close and latch. This was addressed in a recall (Ford recall no. 06s45) several years ago, but the problem still persists. I have taken this vehicle back to my local Ford dealer multiple times were an apparent "bandaid" fix is used because the door will not latch in cold weather. I believe the latch system is flawed. When it does latch I have no confidence it will remain latched while driving.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while at an independent mechanic for a routine park, the contact noticed that there was corossion on the front sub frame of the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed that the sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000. Oo.
Failed inspection due to rust and corrosion on sub frame. Engine light on consistent with recent recall of Ford edge due to rust and corrosion. Car has only 72,703 miles and is in very good condition. Other Freestyle owners have noted similar dangerous corrosion on sub frame due to "substandard steel and alloys. ".
Door latch is frozen closed and cannot get drivers side door to open. Dismantled entire car to fix issue.
I was backing out of angle parking space. As I backed I bumped concrete pole. As I put car in drive to go forward the accelerator stuck wide open. I had no control of speed. I sped forward approximately 20 feet and crashed into the back of a parked pick-up. Police were called. I was only bruised and sore. I did see a dr. And will continue to do follow up. My insurance CO. Totaled the car. It was very damaged on the driver side. Someone could of been killed in this accident. My description does not adequately describe the seriousness of this incident. Police and others could not believe I was not severely hurt. If theses cars are not recalled it is only a matter of time until someone dies if they have not already .

The doors on this vehicle have been freezing up and either dont close or pop open while driving. Sliding side doors and rear wheel wells have a significant amount of rust. I am worried about the structural integrity in a side-on crash. This is true for the windstar too.

My Freestyle surges and lunges forward and backwards. I hit a car while trying to back up and park because the car surged and accelerated into reverse. This is the second time that I have had this problem in 2 years and needed to replace the throttle body. I almost hit people in a parking lot because of the sudden surge and acceleration. This is extremely unsafe and unpredictable. Needs to be recalled! engine mount was also cracked and needed to be repaired as in many of the other cases in the class action lawsuit.

We were at a stand still in traffic leading to the off ramp, a vehicle came speeding down the on ramp and by his own addmission was not paying attention. He then rammed into the back of our vehicle and hit us so hard that it triggered a muti car crash, 6 vehicles in all. During repairs of the vehicle we were told that the engine was experiencing idle surge. It was also noted that this was not due to the vehicle accident. We paid out of pocket some 1,700. 00 and we continue to have the same issues. The Ford dealership has not and will not correct the problem. Ford is responsible for this repair and I would like to see some action taken on their part. I called Ford corporate office and was told dispite my vehicle being included in the 2005-2007 recall my particular VIN number is not included in that lot. Not good customer service.
Car stalls daily three times while driving, dealer cleaned the throttle body still stalls, another dealer cleaned the maf and changed the spark plugs and change cvt transmission fluid, still stalling. Need a new throttle body it is a common defect with Ford and very dangerous some one will get killed because of it. My cvt transmission start to slip and needs replacement.
