Total power steering failure. Steering works but no assistance from the equipment. Problem presented itself when a loud bang occurred and vehicle made an abrupt lane change.
The power steering on my car failed today. On my way to work the steering became difficult. At lunch, the steering started to really be difficult and locked up as I pulled into the lot. We checked the power steering fluid and it was full. After work, I headed home. The car was okay to begin with but the longer I drove the harder the steering became- it became increasingly hard to turn corners. I started having to use two hands to turn the wheel. Finally, while turning right, the power steering failed. The steering wheel locked up wouldn't turn the wheels at all. I got very lucky and happened to be turning into my driveway when the steering locked for good. Once the car cooled, we were able to move my car completely into the driveway and park. Had I been on a street or the highway when making that turn, there would have been no way for me to complete the turn and a crash or accident would have been a very very good possibility.
